  • Submersible Marker Buoy deployment from a depth of 6mt/20ft whilst neutrally buoyant and horizontal, an essential fundamental skill for all recreational and technical divers. The divers stabilizes SMB with air from the BCD to offset buoyancy, then secures reel to SMB by looping line through handle and reducing slack to prevent entanglement. Diver checks above area is clear then holding reel slightly away from face and above, uses 2 exhaled breathes to deploy SMB. Once SMB reaches the surface the line is pulled in to reduce drag and keep SMB vertical at surface and then reel is locked off.

In case of emergency you will not have all the time to deploy your SMB, I would go for a reel which is
    ready to fire.

Ridiculous that one is expected to fiddle with a line before deploying.

Use a spool for SMB and a reel for penetration......prerig your spool and smb......this is an overly complicated, time consuming and potentially dangerous method.
