  • It's obvious that the updated Toyota Camry became more stylish but Toyota also aimed to improve handling and quietness. Engines remain the same, including the super-efficient hybrid.

    I drive a black on black 2015 Camry XSE V6 that I bought last year & I absolutely love it to death! It has 10k miles with no problems so far & still feels brand new & also still has the new car smell. My mom may buy a Camry today, but the XLE 4-cylinder in the predawn gray mica exterior with the gray leather interior.

    I just bought the 2015 Camry XSE. I had to buy one, because I was that impressed. I traded in my wife's 2012 Camry S.E.. I stayed with the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder, since it is quite fast. This new Camry still gets 38 mpg at 70 with A/C, but the car is more quiet, and while cornering hard, the car does not lean...I like that. This really is competition for the BMW 5 series on a road course, because it handles that well! While other manufacturers are using those cheap CVT/scooter belt-drive transmissions, Toyota uses the excellent 6-speed "real" automatic transmission. With that 6-speed, the car is always in its power band, just like a true sports-sedan should be. I can't say enough about this new Camry. My wife decided she wanted the Camry in red, ....women! I would've chosen silver or white. At least she got the black leather interior.

    The Camry is the best vehicle if comfort is your priority. It's like your parents, who never makes you exciting to think about, plan a trip to visit or be with, but who will always provide you with true caring and all the most natural and comfortable accommodations. For me, this is the perfect vehicle to own.

    • @mrolskul
      @mrolskul 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Perez That doesn't make them better than a Camry, it merely suggest your influence over their automotive tastes. In fact, Subaru's quality and reliability have never been their strong suit. But I do agree Toyota's aren't what they used to be.
      I still own the red 1985 Corolla GT-S my brother bought new and, after 276K miles, it still has the original engine with the original P/S pump and radiator. Even the original paint is still shiny and smooth, prompting most onlookers to ask if it's been repainted. Now that's something that can't be said of modern cars.

    • @johnperry3959
      @johnperry3959 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kids or rear passenger cars don't decide what makes a better car; however, you also need to consider the rear passengers' comfort on short and long drives; otherwise, these cars don't deserve the "family" sedan designation.
      1980s-1990s Toyota are known for their long term reliability and Spartan interior. I compared the water pump that I pulled from the 2007 Camry; the fins for the replacement water pump was thicker than the original Toyota. This is indicative of the cost and weight-saving measures (at the expense of quality).

  • @robertschneider3391

    Well, the main reason why the Camry 4 Cylinder lacks a little in fuel efficiency is that they actually use a real reliable 6 speed automatic. I'd rather give up some fuel economy for a much more reliable car with a smooth shifting transmission. I'm purchasing a Camry SE next year when my lease on my Focus is up with that GARBAGE Dual Clutch Automatic.

    The new styling is nice, however, I don't care for the gaping-hole-look of the front end.
    I would paint the black strip in the SE's grille the same color as the body to split the grille in half, making for a more traditional looking front end. Throw in Toyota's impeccable reliability and build quality along with the new updates and you have a winning combination.

    A 2015 Subaru Legacy with the 4 cylinder Boxer engine gets 26 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway with Lineartronic CVT and Symmetrical AWD. Since the Subaru Legacy is celebrating 25 years in the market, it made it a lot better than the previous generation. It also handles better thanks to the low center of gravity. On higher trim levels with leather, you can get heated rear seats, something the Camry or Accord can't brag about and second generation EyeSight system.

    • @holeong933
      @holeong933 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should I get a 2015 Legacy, or the 2015 Camry LE? I know that the Camry LE has a genuine 6-speed automatic transmission, but it only supports a 4-cylinder and front-wheel-drive. But I know that the Subaru has all-wheel-drive, and it pumps more horsepower than the Camry, but it is smaller and feels like a Toyota Yaris, uses a "fake" automatic transmission, and is more expensive than the Camry, so which one?

    • @TimJoseph08031990
      @TimJoseph08031990 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get the 2015 Legacy, because it has a smooth ride and handles like a Mazda6. The Lineartronic CVT isn't that slow, because after having a 2014 Forester, the transmission surges with power from 0 mph, so it doesn't feel slow. The interior is much better inside. The Camry is comfortable on all trim levels, except SE and XSE models, but the SE and XSE are not too sporty like Mazda6 or Legacy in driving dynamics.

    • @TimJoseph08031990
      @TimJoseph08031990 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean both are reliable vehicles because the engines are from Japan. The Camry is not a bad car, but when everyone else has one, it becomes boring. I do know a lot of people in my church and my friends who drive or own Camrys. I know Toyota made the Camry's styling as evolutionary. Both use 0W-20 synthetic oil, especially the Accord.

      Then go for either the XSE or XLE (The top trims) cause you get a lot more features for not much more money such as Dual Zone Auto Climate Control, Power Passenger Seat, Rear Seat Vents, HD Radio, Heated Front Seats, Premium JBL Audio, Standard Navigation App that you download from your phone, as well as a much nicer interior. None of those features are available on the LE & SE. I recommend just skipping the LE & SE. Sadly most people buy those versions. I have a 2015 XSE V6 & my parents have a 2017 XLE 4-cylinder. Much, much nicer than the LE & SE. Trust me it's worth it!

    The really worrying thing is that the fuel economy numbers haven't changed. For a long time that has been one of Toyota's main claims to fame but now they are 3-5 mpg behind the top competitors? That's really resting on your laurels.

    I bought a 2015 Camry LE, but it definately does not have as smooth and vibration free a ride as the 2015 Hyundai Sonata and it's 4 cyl engine makes unrefined whiney sounds at lower speeds. Also it's seats are harder than Sonatas. The Ford Fusion is the smoothest, quietest riding car in this segment and also had the most comfortable seats, but it's mechanical reliability is poor compared to the Asians.

    • @Modeltrainscarsstereos614
      @Modeltrainscarsstereos614 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That award for smoothest and quietest goes to the Chevy Malibu but most reliable and fuel efficient go to Camry and accord as far as most fuel efficient Altima Mazda 6 which is pretty reliable but noisy and not as smooth riding the Altima is not as reliable as it once was the Chrysler 200 efficient but troublesome and all around piece of crap Subaru Legacy is very very nice and will also run forever and fuel economy is not bad for an all wheel drive sedan the best mid sized sedans to get Camry legacy or accord if you don't care about resale value Hyundai Sonata the Kia Optima is nice too but it has a punishing ride and more road noise

  • @kennyinstockings

    Toyota has become the new "GM" car company. Cars that are styled by committee, engines and transmissions that aren't competitive. Case in point, the Honda Accords, have a torque converter in front of the CVT transmission. Therefore, it performs similar to a conventional transmission, and better gas mileage on the highway. The Altima, doesn't come close. I have a Accord Sport, w/6-spd. manual transmission. The CVT gets better gas mileage, but over a second slower that the manual. I'm sure that the Camry will sell tons of cars, but, the August car totals for the Accord, was the highest of all mid-size cars. If Toyota doesn't make changes to it's engines, and transmissions, the styling won't be enough to keep it is first place.

    • @cwqrpportable
      @cwqrpportable 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kenia Armstrong I contracted for GM during the 70s and 80s and I can tell you without a word of a lie, Toyota is NOT the new "GM" car company. Not by a long shot. This is a company that is managed in an excellent manner, with fantastic design teams and has a reputation in the business world that is second to none. Toyota did not become the world's largest auto manufacturer by accident. Ford Motor Company would die to be a shadow of Toyota. Their former boss actually admired Toyota.

      For the Camry (2002-2006 models), you could get an LE or SE with a V6. Now Toyota now only supports a 4-cylinder for the LE and SE trims, and an available V6 for XSE and XLE trims. Before, all the Camry XLE (1992, 2006), the XLE came standard with the V6. Actually, 1989 Toyota Camry(s) are still able to drive (guaranteed with rustproofing, may start up rarely without rustproofing).

    No thanks, I'm sticking to my 1996 camry, love my car! By far the 3rd gen is the best car toyota made along with the 1st & 2bd, but the 3rd is a dying breed. Then they flopped, money got to their egos & now they have crap. They don't make camrys like they used too.

      Camry is way better than a pasat. Camry's last long if you have the 4-cylinder which I have in mine. The v6 versions from I what I heard from other camry owners suck! Nothing against pasat, just camry's are built tough I guess.

      Chazz Kustomz I don't doubt that for a second. I know very well Japanese cars are the best around. I just mean id have more fun and happiness owning a Passat. It's more me and my personality. Sure it might cost more to maintain in the long haul but its worth it. Basically I'm saying its good enough. Better than a Ford or GM at least hehe. "better" is more how you look at it, to me the Passat is a better car than the Camry because I would be happy and excited about owning it, while a Camry is boring and basic transport. If I bought Japanese id go for the Accord first. On the car and driver 10 best list for over 25 years I think. Plus I believe Honda to be a more respectable company than Toyota in terms of recent recalls and safety issues. Nothing against Toyota though, I still think they are good they have just slipped up ad are having to rebuild their reputation. I wouldn't mind a Camry or an Avalon.

    I bought many Toyota cars and they always reliable (no complain there)...however, when I bought the Venza in 2010 I found the interior is so cheaply made that it changes my whole perspective on Toyota as a quality car. I traded it in without two years of ownership because I cannot stand the rattles and squeaks emitted from the interior of the Venza. No longer looking at Toyota the same way gain. So sad, Toyota is not what they used to be...

      The rattles could have been fixed and cost you a lot less than taking the loss on trading the car especially if they knew you hated it, the Venza along with all crossovers are ugly and unless you got the XLE Venza you got what you paid for

The 2007-2011 camry looks like the 2003 - 2008 tsx, the 2012 -2014 camry looks like a 2009 - 2014 tsx even the rims looked the same camry se and tsx sport models. Now they are copying the TLX in the front lights and the 2011 sonata in the back lights. WTH Toyota?

      I agree. I bought new back in 2007. Figured it will save me lots of money since many of my friends have Camry's from 90's and early 00's, still running, in good shape. I still have the car, it's using more oil than gas! If it wasn't for this issue, which is pretty major, it would have been a good since nothing else ever went wrong with it. They used Ok materials on the inside, but the way it was put together is just awful. Gaps everywhere, stuff sticking out, front pillars all loose, rattling, etc. I don't know. If i was to buy another car, it would be Honda, most likely Accord. Toyota did same thing GM, they got too big, cocky and money hungry. Started making shitty cars, lost trust from smart people who moved on to better quality products. Now they are trying to come back. I guess it's in human nature to not learns from mistakes, our own or others.

      Sanic I don't think Honda's a joke. Sure, they're having issues with their infotainment systems, and does many carmakers.
      I refuse to let go of my 2003 Honda Pilot (which was driven for over 45,000 miles on the European autobahns) plus my wife and I love our 2012 CR-V.
      I sold my 2007 Camry a few weeks ago. Sure, it was "reliable," but I had to replace the alternator and water pump at 52,000 miles. My brother still has his Toyota 2WD pickup with its original water pump, and it has at least 225,000 miles!

    The 2015 -2017 Toyota Camry is by far one of the worse designs I have EVER seen on a Camry. What were thwy thinking? Yes, its a reliable car but is certainly NOT attractive at all. I dont mind driving a reliable car, however, it ALSO have to look great too. I had an option to purchase a 2015 Toyota Camry, with NO miles, and a 2012 Toyota Venza with 26k miles, and even though the Camry was cheaper, I STILL chose the Venza. Had NO regrets!!

      +DevPack How do you know that Camry drivers aren't interested in looks or driving dynamics. It could very well be, and actually is a fact, that a lot of people really like the design of the Camry and enjoy it's ride. Perhaps one of the reasons it sells in such huge numbers.

    • @DevPack

      Binder Dundat yes cause its not sporty...its floaty and comfortable which many people like.

    • @cwqrpportable
      @cwqrpportable 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would you look for "sporty" characteristics in this type of car? This is a family car and a car designed for people who desire a well made vehicle that works flawlessly and has an enviable track record. With regards to looks...........I think it looks miles better than the Mazda 6 and every bit as good as the Fusion.

    • @DevPack

      Someone people enjoy having a car that is fun to drive without having to pay a lot of money

    • @cwqrpportable
      @cwqrpportable 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but you're missing the point. More people desire a comfortable, smooth and reliable vehicle and that's what the Camry is and what is was designed to be. So why dump on the Camry because it doesn't have the characteristics you're looking for. There are cheaper cars with more sporty characteristics. For example........the Mazda 3, the Mazda CX-3 and some models of the Civic. Why is that such a hard concept to grasp?
