2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid SE - Redline: Review

  • Often criticized as being the automotive equivalent of a toaster, Toyota looks to add a bit more flavor to its best-selling Camry line-up by offering its boldest design yet. Taking styling cues from its upscale Lexus division, this thoroughly refreshed 2015 model looks to add a bit more passion to an otherwise vanilla sedan, has Toyota succeeded?

    what irks me about certain enthusiasts is that they forget, most buyers of family sedans want a reliable, affordable, fuel efficient car to get around in and thats it.

  • @EAS573182

    I bought the I4 XSE and I love it. Sometimes I feel as though a lot of people commenting online just bash the Camry because it's the cool thing to do. I challenge you to get behind the wheel of an I4 or V6 Camry XSE and tell me it's floaty, bland, or that it has bad driving dynamics. For what it is, a midsize sedan, the XSE does a great job. Is it on the level of the Mazda 6 in terms of driving dynamics? No. But it still does a damn good job of providing a fun drive and it keeps its composure through tight turns, especially with the rev-matching downshifts.
    That being said, I can't wait to see what your take is on this Hybrid version.

    • @EAS573182
      @EAS573182 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      chuck Norris Agreed 100%. I LOVE the ride in my XSE and the handling is superb as I mentioned earlier. I'm convinced that most people who bash it haven't actually driven a new one. This is coming from a guy who considers himself a car enthusiast. Hell, I'm already saving up to buy a Focus RS in a few years if it launches without problems in the US. But I'm not idiotic enough to say the Camry XSE is a bad car or that it has a "floaty" feel. That's downright idiotic.

      TH-cam Aneesh tbh this camry is the only camry that looks good on their website but not as good in real person. i personally own a 2007 camry asian market, and that i think is the boldest looking of all. anything before and after that is a bit old looking.

    Hello Sofyan I hope you can answer some other inquiries I made about the Camry Vs Mazda 6 for long term reliability and handling in snow. I also want to comment about my 20 year old car. I own a 97 Prizm LSI. I want to make it last longer but it's very squeminsh on corners and runs slow in winter. Can't find the horse and torque on that model. My question is if you have a car like mine, how do you increase its performance? Higher octane gas? spark plus? Since you have great knowledge and experience, perhaps many of your viewers and fans might have the same question with their current cars, as we're all researching your channels and picking out our new vehicle. Sincerely, Paul.

    The differentiations you pointed out about Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura made the most sense of any I've heard. You hit the nail on the head when you said that Honda typically are so well equipped it takes away from what's suppose to be special about an Acura. Whereas Toyota does a better job at keeping most of its best features exclusive to its Lexus brand. With that being said I prefer Honda/Acura's approach vs Toyota/Lexus. I will never buy into a brand such as Lexus that has its entire history built of a "me too" image. Lexus has yet to innovate anything revolutionary, and continues to imitate Mercedes and now BMW. I don't care how many cars Lexus sales I feel there's no soul in its brand. Acura has at least gone its own way whether profitable or not they don't want to be a me too brand, and I appreciate that.

    • @christopherwaits7852
      @christopherwaits7852 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      BS. Lexus revolutionized how cars are built and absolutely sent chills down the spines of the Germans when they started making cars. They also revolutionized dealership experience. Mercedes & GM when they tore apart an LS400 flat out said they could not replicate how well it was built. Lexus has had for more of an impact and has innovated more than Acura ever has. First 8 speed transmission, first luxury utility vehicle, first luxury crossover, first to win JD power award 5 years in a row.

    • @christopherwaits7852
      @christopherwaits7852 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      And Acura would sell their supposed "soul" you claim they have to be in Lexus' "me too" position. Let me know when Acura builds a car as nice and well built as the LS.

    • @Fastboy108
      @Fastboy108 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    For starters, a driving "enthusiast" wouldn't nut over an accord or camry. The "helper" screen, as you called it, is absolutely not standard on the LE trim, the gauges on the LE are actually the same as found in the previous gen models. The dash is the same as before, the center console, same, the height of the vehicle is the same, the MPG, yup, thats the same too. To tout this as the "Boldest" camry ever is laughable.

    4:55 , sounds like a shit microwave oven. There's something so middle of the road, middle-America, Walmart-esque about the Camry of the last decade. Toyota couldn't sell this thing in Europe, only Americans are wiling to fork over money for what is essentially a full-size car with compact-car level build quality and technology. Harsh statement until you realize what VW and Ford are offering in this segment in the EU and China. Toyota Camry Is an American phenomenon that I don't miss when I travel abroad.

    Geez, the electric mode has a really low speed. Very low in fact, compared to other electric cars or hybrids like the Kia Soul EV, the Nissan Leaf and the BMW i3. Like 20 mph, get outta here, just get the gas model or always drive in hybrid mode.

    I would still keep my fusion hybrid over this car, nothing about makes me wanna go trade in mine. Especially considering I have a lead foot and my car returns 43 mpg, and its a 5 year old design. We have had several fords in our family and nobody has had any major problems typical wear and tear. Our latest is a '13 Lincoln MKZ 3.7 it already has 45k miles, nothing besides getting rid of the shitty Michelin tires it came with now it's even better.

      The only strange thing we've had go out on our last '11 fusion sel v6 that was unfortunately totaled at 85k due to a deer, was the electronic gas pedal went out at 39k.

      The 2010's were notorious for having various problems, but ford resolved most of the problems by 2011-12.

    If you want luxury on a budget and reliability, get honda. If you want just reliability and some nick nacks in a car without caring soo much on luxury buy a toyota lol. Pay a lil more for the honda if u dont want to pay premium gas vs on an acura.
