So good to hear from another Buchter. I had the privilege to go and vote in the german hostel today 27 Nov. 2024. Was so awed ! The hostel have the most beutifull view of the whole bay and the most wonderfull argitecture. Please come and visit if you can. My son is in Germany but he his inlaws and close friends is planing to come back to Namibia because the political climate in Europe is not favorable. Namibia is save, come back all children of Namibia.
The service to your country made you ou manne my heroes. Thank you for doing what I was unable to because I was still to young, but I would have loved to do military service in defence of my country and it's people. You troepies had the real honor to perform your duties but it was our leaders that betrayed the Volk and made you fine upstanding soldiers into villains. THANKS and best wishes for your future.
I will never forget this phrase one night doing loopas "ja jys moeg maar jy moet!" Stayed with me to this day when I see youngsters of today can't hack it.thank you s a d f!
Beautiful song, nice singer! I would like to have a translation in english, unfortunately I do not understand afrikaans. I am italian and I know that many italians emigrated to South Africa in the past two centuries giving their tribute to make it a beautiful and civilized Country. In the nineteenth century Italy sent to South Africa the "Italian Volunteer Legion" that was an expatriate military unit which took part in the Anglo-Boer War, raised and led by soldier and adventurer Camillo Ricchiardi on behalf of General Louis Botha. We are so proud! God Bless south Africa and Boers! Dio benedica il Sud Africa ed i Boeri!
The song is written by a woman begging her soldier lover to come home safely....very moving and great memories for nearly all young South African men that had to do compulsary National Service and border duty.
I was one of them all those years ago. It was a strange time. And now down the passage of time I have all those memories left. Some vivid and clear but most of it like it was only a dream. It truly saddens me so much that so many sacrifices were made by so many and today honoured by so very few. Not that my generation deserve a special mention. We fought and died for our country like so many before us. I was lucky to step through it alive but sometimes when it creeps up on me and I take stock I'm completely surprised by how much it affected me. And barely a day go by that I don't remember someone fallen in that mess of a war! Sometimes my heart says it doesn't want to remember no more...
@@jasonward2303 Is right. It is indeed about a young girl in South Africa who remembers, upon the blooming of the Jakaranda trees in Pretoria that signals spring after winter, how she yearned for her soldier to come home from war but he never did. And yes, all those years ago it was a bit of a silly song to us but now after all this time and being one of those soldiers it brings tears to my eyes.
@@thegulagarchipelago5921 God bless you Sir, for your service to your country. The SADF was an inspiration to all who believed in South Africa's fight for survival. Respect from the USA.
Waar was my oom. As iemand dalk vir Charlie Loxton (Bantom) geken het sal ek terug voer waardeer. Dankie aan almal wat ons beskerm het daai jare. God seën julle tot in ewigheid.

1 out of a 100 qualify😂😂😂what a crock of sh1t! I got my wings in 1983 and qualified with about 70 other blokes. There certainly weren't 7000 blokes on our course. It's really more like a qualifying rate of about 1 out of 4/5
