I also passed my CompTIA A+ test, but I only studied two weeks for each part. I took each exam exactly 1 day apart and passed. I don't recommend doing this unless you have the time to really, really study. I studied on average 8-10 hours daily. But I was determined to get my certification. I'm now working on my Network + . My recommendation is study hard and use any and every resource you can get your hands on. Also, they types of study techniques you use also play a big role in your being prepared for the test. Use metacognition in helping you recall the information you study. Recall is the key idea here. Don't fall into the trap of familiarity, where you think you know something just because you looked over your notes ......test yourself daily.

I was in a 6-8 hour lecture 4 days a week from February-April, but it actually didn't need to take that long. We were also working through Coursera's Google IT course and learning job developmental skills. Essentially, we went through 2 chapters in the textbook every week, then spent one week reviewing for the 1001, took that exam, spent another week reviewing for the 1002, took that exam, then the course was over.
Ive had a long career in tech got my certs way back in high school (2002). Never thought the exam was worthwhile and I generally assume people with the cert don’t know anything about computers based on experience hiring. However it seems to open a lot of doors especially at the beginning of your career so it is hard to not recommend.
@@luciushunt2882 personally I learn by doing experience goes a long way but I'm also young so I understand that doesn't work for getting first jobs. What I recommend for getting those first jobs is value not only yourself but what a job can give you I had 3 years help desk experience before my certification because I worked a job that didn't pay that well because I could learn and now that experience follows with me to the next job where I can try to get a higher position because I already have my certification

Thanks for the great advice! In preparing for the A+ 1001, do you need practical experience in a lab? If so, how would you obtain that? I didn't find any practice labs for the 1001, only for 1002. Would appreciate your help!
Hey I think I missed the part where you said you were part of an alumni program, can you go a little in depth. Thanks very much for this video 🙂😌 it is very helpful
Hey! Yeah it's called Per Scholas. Here is the exact course that I took perscholas.org/courses/it-support/it-support-new-york/
Bro , did you ever struggle like with procastinating ? and if so how did you over come it?kinda feel stuck.
Im a major procrastinator but I enrolled in a program with a teacher and other students so I knew I had a deadline and people holding me accountable and it made a world of difference.
Get rid of distractions it helps alot
Everyday, friend! Accountability: telling someone else about how I'm feeling usually helps me get out of my head. A lot of the stress comes from uncertainty about the future. Sometimes we need someone else to tell us to Snap out of it and get started
You snapped
I looked at locations for Per Scholas but is it an East Coast only site/schooling?

@@GERALDT I’m looking at Per Scholas now, which course did you take? They have several such as IT, Cyber Security etc?? Also is Per Scholas something I can do if I currently work a 9-5 job?
Is the Google Certificate accepted right now in the industry?
My professor mentioned that it has more of a name-drop effect, but after the amount of work you put in to receive it you will value it as much as any other cert out there
great vid 👍
Just started as my learning last week as 38 from working in retail for seven years. So nervous and excited at same time, I am t bag from prison break. Always looking for respectable identify and profession that reflects my mind. Put i am up for the challenge. Any advice ?
can you get into IT with certifications, but no degree?
How many hours a day or per-week did you study for the A+?
Any tips on a young guy like me on the proper way to gain knowledge?

@@luciushunt2882 personally I learn by doing experience goes a long way but I'm also young so I understand that doesn't work for getting first jobs. What I recommend for getting those first jobs is value not only yourself but what a job can give you I had 3 years help desk experience before my certification because I worked a job that didn't pay that well because I could learn and now that experience follows with me to the next job where I can try to get a higher position because I already have my certification
I LIVE IN NEW YORK! PLEASE LINK PESCOLIS!!! Or whatever the spelling is, I am not spelling it correctly.
