Undoubtedly one of the greatest bandleaders and leaders of men GOD has ever endowed. This man was up there with the greats, e.g. Barry White, Duke Ellington, Lawrence Welk, Quincy Jones, Count Basie, Van McCoy, James Brown, etc. His skills in organizing and managing a band one hundred plus young men on a given day was absolutely extraordinary. It did it with style, grace, and humor. He was a philosopher who often incorporated a daily proverb to keep us mentally focused on the task at hand. A mentor especially of thousands of young African American men who stressing discipline, education, focus, hard work, perfectionism, and perseverance. A shout out to his children Colette, Dedra, Mark, and His late Queen, i.e. Mrs. Greggs; We say Thank You for making the selfless sacrifices. You allowed Him to be an integral element of not only my life (as a former Bandmember), but many, many, many, others who were granted the opportunity to learn basic life's lessons. These were related to commitment, focus, attention to detail, and excellence - extending far beyond the music, performances, and late night rehearsals. " Its gon be right " ! --- doc greggs
That is one man will be truely miss. Yes he was a trip, but that how he was; there will be no more of him. With the master mind he had of marching band. I still love it today, on how all black marching bands through out the swac still be copying off of southern marching. Dr Gregg and the history of southern band will forever be acknowledged as one of the greatest band in the world. I am so happy that my brother Donald is apart of that history
