I was 15, in 1978 and was working in the cash office as a Thursday, Friday and all day Saturday job. It was hand written ledgers and counting money by hand... everything was precise and not a computer in sight. The first 'screen' of any kind arrive to the misgivings of the general office staff in 1982 .... fab trading for life !!!!

The good old days of free brown paper bags!.....what went wrong?

Apparently plastic bags were introduced because paper ones were considered bad for the environment as it meant forests were cut down to produce them.

Shame they didnt capture Iceland in the Car Park shot. Make syou realise it's good to capture these everyday events. Things change and it's good to see how things were.

I think this is between 1977 -79 as I'm pretty sure I am on this at 00:13 walking behind the trolly and then packing my shopping away a bit later. Brings back memories of how Bretton centre used to be. 👍.

Iceland didn't exist in the 70's there. It used to be the community boiler house heating the local homes.

All the housewives, as they used to call them, old fashioned, outdated term now. Why do these videos which I find fascinating, have no sound on them.
