    Beautiful demonstration of the top five. Will be waiting for the different load test on each one of them. Each one is very similar to each other. But with still features of there own. At the end I think it might come down to different preferences on each individual buyer. 👍All really good generator. Thanks buddy again for the comparison.

      @@GeneratorReviews I was looking at the champion for a while because they are everywhere and easy to find. So I figured it would be easy to get parts. I just didn’t like what it offered for the price. So I looked at the Westinghouse, WoW did it offer a lot that others did not. I almost didn’t get it because nobody carried it at their store, so it would be hard to find parts. Sense Cummins came out with their inverter I have been seeing more and more do to the name brand. After I researched the Cummins that’s when I found out that Westinghouse built it for Cummins. I do see all kind of parts on the shelf for Cummins. So when you look at what those parts fit it actually says for Cummings and Westinghouse inverters. How nice is that!!!! So now I have the inverter I want, it’s around $300 -$350 less than the Cummins and Champion, and I can find parts readily available. Awesome!!! Win win.

    Thank you sir for a great presentation of those inverter generators. I recently purchased a 4375 Champion generator as a back up for home use and for use as a contractor. I'm grateful to you for the way you delivered need-to-know information about those generators. Today, it is vital for most homeowners to have a back up energy source during storms, hurricanes (we live in Louisiana), tornadoes, and just plain old grid failures. Please continue to give more indepth reports and presentations of more ( weedeaters, lawnmowers, trimmers, etc.) equipment and tools that most homeowners will find extremely useful. Again, thanks.

      @@mikegoettina Great feedback, Mike! I am in the market for a portable, inverter generator to power our 1 15k btu ac (not that one has to run the a/c often at that altitude, but this summer was certainly warmer up at altitude than normal) and other travel trailer accessories. We live at 8000 feet and will camp higher than that, at times.
      I have been absorbing Gavin's videos on the various models--- currently trying to determine which size to focus on ---- 1) get a 2500w suitcase version and be prepared to have to get a second one for parallelling if I find the altitude too great for those or 2) get either a 3000-3800w or 3) get a 4500w and just have 1 generator vice 2 in parallel.
      I will be installing a solar set up also that will include a 3k watt inverter. So, in essence, I guess all that I would be doing is charging the lithium batteries with the generator vice running electrical components with the generator.

    Gavin, your videos are very informative. When possible can you test in the Genkins open frame 4500W inverter. There’s also an enclosed frame generator like you tested in this video. Genkins has the cheapest of all the 4500w inverters & produce more power than all of them. Thx

    I’ve been reviewing generators for weeks, on top of watching all your videos. I really want the Honda eu2200i, but my problem is I live in northern NM at an elevation of 7,200’. I leaning toward a suitcase inverter generator to run my 13.5 BTU A/C in my travel trailer along with using it for power outages. All I’m looking to run during power outages is the refrigerator, microwave and maybe a small heater or A/C in the house. Of course I wouldn’t run them all at the same time other than running the refrigerator all the time. What generator would you recommend?

    • @GeneratorReviews
      @GeneratorReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wouldn’t recommend a 2k+ Gen. I know you’re looking for a top brand and something you can easily carry so I would recommend at least a 3k I personally use the Generac gp3000

      @campingalan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I am in the same boat. Our travel trailer will arrive in a couple of weeks; so it is time to get a generator. I will install a solar system. So the generator would only be for cloudy days, shady sites, or maybe just to turn on when we have a known large energy session such as microwaving and such. We live at 8000ft, just north of you in CO. We will primarily boondock in CO and the immediate surrounding states. Since it will be October when our trailer arrives and I can get the solar system in, we very well could be boondocking down in your parts as our forest roads and jeep trails will start closing down due to snow in mid October. Oh…land I will put a soft start on our 15k btu a/c.
      My current choices are a nice Honda 2200w and hope that can run the a/c up at altitude (or have to get a second one for paralleling), get an off model 2200-2500w for half the price and get a second if we need to (those would be the price of 1 Honda), or quit trying to cut corners and go straight for a 3000-4000w off model. Or…really quit cutting corners and get the Honda 3000w.
      Lots of things to think about. I would love to not have a 100lb generator. But I also don’t like counting amps every hour of the day. I have seen folks that carry ramps to help put their heavy generators in the truck. And, I have also seen wive’s set up 1 2500w generator because that satisfies 90% of their needs.
      I am reasonably handy, so can maintain any of these brands. I get the feeling that with good maintenance and proper fuel management, any of these models should work for most of our needs.
      Gavin’s videos are awesome! I really appreciate them in the decision making process!

    I have the champion and spent 819 bucks on it. On eco it is crazy quiet and it will run my fifth wheel with single AC, fridge and microwave perfectly. Tank of fuel will be around 10hrs depending on load and outside temperature. I have a family member who has dual Cummins of the smaller version and those combined are louder than the single champion. I know we are comparing apples to oranges here but for the price point you can’t beat the champion

    Do any of these have 120/240vac voltage? Without. 240 vac you cannot use these inverters with a home transfer switch. Can only use 120vac extension cables.

      @@GeneratorReviews thanks for the reply....regarding use of an adapter....yes certainly can be used but it means that only ONE side of a 240vac transfer switch will have 120vac. In zCanada its not legal to jumper inside the transfer panel to have 120vac appear on both sides or phases of the panel. Hence you can only use half the breaker positions in the panel. I can't comment on whether its possible to draw 30amp @ 120vav through the transfer panel with the wiring that way. Thanks for the rebiewd

    Gavin - Fantastic videos! Keep up the good work. Quick question, if a guy just wants a backup/emergency generator to run two refrigerators, a vertical deep freeze, and a few household lights (at the same time preferably), what size inverter would you recommend? And would you drop the money for a name brand (Honda or Yamaha) or would you go with one of these knock-off brands?

    • @GeneratorReviews
      @GeneratorReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Adam!
      When it comes to the backup generators if you have the money to buy the Honda and the Yamaha go for it as far as wattage I would start around the 4500w give yourself a little legroom if in case your needs grow in the future. There’s nothing wrong with the cheap inverter generator as long as you maintain them and keep them properly stored

    I can never get my Westinghouse iGen4500df to start with the pull rope. I’ve changed the spark plug to an NGK and confirmed the choke is working at least when using the battery start. Does anyone else have a problem starting manually with pull rope?

    • @GeneratorReviews
      @GeneratorReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I just verified that it will start with pull start switch on, Eco mode off, fuel on and a really hard pull it should start if that doesn’t work get your side panel off turn on your manual choke and try it that way.
      If your generator starts with the Manuel choke you may have to adjust the automatic choke cable.

      Sadly, finding a smaller generator that handles 240v is difficult. I have an older Yamaha (EF4600a non-inverter) that I've had over 20 years now. It's LOUD which is the only negative I can give it. That said, it's a 4600 watt unit, starts in one pull, and runs all the critical home systems like well pump, heat, hot water, refrigeration, and washing machine. Using a reasonable duty cycle, I can go a week comfortably on just 15 gallons of fuel in the middle of winter.
      Only thing I've seen that would be a nice quiet replacement is the GenMax GM5500i. Combined with a ProTran 31406CRK Transfer Switch (or maybe one a little larger like 31410CRK) and you have a very good and efficient home backup.

    Most of these are made by the same factory in china which is why they are almost identical. The Onan is definitely not made by onan/cummins. Just the badge. I've been searching for a quiet one for a while and I'm trying to settle on the champion,predator or westinghouse. The westinghouse is bottom due to the terrible customer service I keep reading about. Predator is in the running because there is a horrible freight somewhere close to wherever you go pretty much. I'd assume the Briggs engine is made in the usa still but does it matter much? The honda clones are really good engines and if the engine is holding you back there is only 1 option, go honda..
