My grandparents, both lifelong outdoor people and mountaineers, climbed up to Mt. Everest base camp for my grandmother's 75th birthday. They went with The Sierra Club of whom they'd been lifelong members. My grandfather, a Yale-educated Professor Emeritus, was so impressed with the sherpas!! And, my estimable grandfather had seen a lot of impressive people in his life by the time they went part-way up Everest. My grandfather could not praise the Sherpas highly enough!

Hi Gabe, in the end where you were guessing the gods on the yellow wall, they all are female gods. The wall is depicting the 9 avatars of Durga, as you are aware Hinduism has 33 million gods so its hard to know who is who, the goddess with the bull is a Mahagauri, the eighth avatar of Goddess Durga. The other one is Kaalratri also an avatar of Durga and she rides donkey. Bull is predominently assoicated with Shiva but there are times when other gods/goddess have been associated with bull or any other animal for that matter. Darjeeling has a temple where a stupa and a hindu temple are located in the same place and worshipped equally. This shows how similiar yet different these two religions are and don't forget Bodh Gaya is also not way too far from Darjeeing. Its like 500 kms only.

Mount Everest can be seen only from Tiger Hill if the weather is very clear, Kanchenjunga is visible from View Point near the Mall Road, if Kanchenjunga is not clear enough from the view point I will advice you to skip Tiger Hill because it will be foggy up there also, you can visit Sandakphu, it will take around 3 hours from Darjeeling to rach Maneybhanjan and from there another 3 hours ride to Sandakphu, from there you can see Everest and Kanchenjugna range from even near, it is around 11k feet altitude so changes of fog around this time is rare, you will get great views of the mountains, I will suggest you to stay at Sandakphu for the night and enjoy the sunrise from there, if you stay at Hotel Sunrise at Sandakphu you will be able to get best view from there, I will highly recommend you to visit there, it is like heaven up there

Hi. I think there are some parts of India which are safe for solo female travellers, like the Northeastern states & maybe the south. However, there are also some parts which are a bit shady. I've seen several vids of women being SH in India during their travels. Two of them were with their (male) partners at the time. I remember the vids of the girls from Jumping Places & Travel Beans.

Hi Gabriel, that was quite a hike up to Tiger Hill, which has a very scenic view, there must be a time of year to view the mountains during the spring or summer months when there is a mist, or the air quality is better. You have been traveling for over thirty years you have to start teaching a Master Class on your travels I'm sure you can compose videos with a compilation of your traveling experiences. I'm sure that there would be an extensive list of topics to discuss. Many people would relish those experiences and applied some of those experiences themselves.

Just a suggestion, since you're off to Sikkim maybe you could stay one night in a homestay in Peshoke Tea Estate or in Tista bazar which is a small town located on the Tista river. The town is very basic and simple but I'm sure it will be an experience. Peshoke Tea Estate is located on a hill and is also very basic but you're surrounded by nature and you get a taste of what the locals experience. Both these places are in West Bengal and on the way to Sikkim. There are plenty of homestays to choose from as seen on google maps and I only recommend a one night stay in either one of those places.
