I dont know as much about AI as Calli, but from what i understand though her name is stylistically written in caps, it is not pronounced A.I., but rather like the word 'eye'. Ai is a common name for girls in Japan and also a word for love. Always love seeing new people react to Calli's music. She's a very atypical artist in a lot of ways. She's American, but moved to Japan after falling in love with a very particular niche of Japanese internet rap. She built herself up as a musician in the underground scene there (under a different name) while also working as an English teacher to stay in Japan. When the pandemic hit, it shut down the music scene she was a part of, so as a new creative outlet she applied to join Hololive, a company that produces and manages vtubers, was accepted and debuted as the vtuber Mori Calliope in late 2020 where she was immediately greeted with great success, her first song going pretty viral. She was pretty quickly able to quit her teaching job and has had a lot of success as one of the leading and most prolific vtubers Hololive manages. If youre unaware of vtubers, its a contraction of 'virtual youtuber' and basically it means you never see her true, human appearance. Instead, the designed character you saw in the video is her 'face'. She does live streams on youtube via an animated rig of the character, and concerts are done via a 3D model she controls theough motion capture. Vtubers often also have fantastical lore of some sort; in Calli's case, her character lore is that she is grim reaper. Calli's company, Hololive, is unique in the vtuber scene as it doubles as an idol group, so there in an expectation for its members to release music (a lot of vtubers with other groups just do streams or videos), though some only do so rarely. Hololive has more than sixty vtuber talents to its name, and while Calli is one of the most prolific and celebrated, many of their other talents are equally worth discovering. Some of their other artists of note are Hoshimachi Suisei, Moona Hoshinova, Tsunomaki Watame and Houshou Marine. As for Calli, as said she's quite prolific, with four EPs and two full albums (a third in its way), in less than four years. And shes explored a lot if different styles. When she first started at Hololive, she lacked confidence and experiece singing and mostly rapped. She's generally trended in a more rock direction over time, but seems to like changing it up quite a bit. My personal favorite song of hers is End of a Life, one of her most personal songs. As a metal fan, the lead single from the upcoming album, Overkill is also a pretty safe pick (it was made with Megmetal, one of the core arrangers for Babymetal). Its hard to go too wrong with her music though.
Thank you, my friend! Great info right here! I really appreciate that and helping me pronounce AI correctly 😁I'm learning new things about the scene and culture in Japan although mostly through metal/hard rock bands like Babymetal, Lovebites, Band-Maid and Ninjen Iso so this side is all new to me! Once again, big thanks! 🤘❤️🤘
Glad you enjoyed it will end up recommending more in the future from hololive(the company cali works for. Imo genius always has the best lyrics sadly though they dont have every song on there website Lol. Highly relatable to all of cali's songs she pften makes music about the struggle to push forward but also does other music as any good artist. If you have the time tomorrow(Wednesday) @7pm PDT shes doing a live karaoke session with cowboy songs(cause she recently beat red dead redemption. Cali has 2 albums currently and is working on releasing her 3rd. This was her intro song to her 3rd album
I really enjoyed it! So did Nancy who said her voice has a soulfulness that reminds her of early R&B and gospel songs. I'm going to try to catch that live session! I love cowboy songs! Thank you so much, my friend!

From Mori I'd like to recommend checking out her songs "Wanted Wasted", "Six feet Under" and "End of a life".
Thank you, my friend! I appreciate the recommendations! 🤘❤️🤘
Great recommendations. Someone suggested Overkill; that might be a good one as well.
@@BlakeRavenArt Yup, I've added that one as well.
Metal musician? Then "Overkill" from Mori Calliope would be a nice treat for u to check it out
Sounds good to me! Thank you, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘
Great video; if you decide to make more Calli reactions, I'll definitely check them out.

Loved the vocals.
I really did as well. Nancy said Calliope has a very soulful voice. Reminds her of old R&B.
Cool! Thank you! ❤❤
Thank you, my dear friend! ❤️❤️
