Ford Transit Cooling Fan Diagnostic. FANS NOT WORKING OVERHEATING!!! (FIXED)

  • If your engine is running hot, there are a few potential culprits. First, check the coolant. Make sure the coolant is full and the mixture is correct. Next, check for any leaks in the radiator and cooling system. Any leaks will cause your engine to run hotter than usual. Finally, make sure that the fan is working correctly and that the fan belt if you do not have electric fans is in good condition.
If all of these things check out, then it may be time to take a look at the thermostat. The thermostat could be stuck open or closed and this would cause the engine to run hotter than normal.
In this video it was the electric cooling fan circuit that was faulty. Follow along as we trace through the circuit and test to determine which component is defective.
The electrical diagnostic process was challenging But with the right knowledge and tools, it's possible to work through the process and find a solution. I'm glad I was able to work through it and find a successful outcome. #ford #transition

Nice and thorough approach, loved it. I however would go further test and change every fuse & relay which relates to those fans to ensure everything proper.

So informative and such a treat to watch. The way that you broke down the relay system and how it works in relations to the fans was really impressive and expertly done. I really enjoyed this and I would love to watch more of your stuff

love your videos Rasta. but this one did not make sense to me. why when you swapped the relays they stoped working? that tells me that one of the relays is no good. second while looking at the video again i see that when you swapped the relays that blue fuse was already missing. can you clarify that for me?

This is basically the same system that GM uses on some of their vehicles as well now with the same three relays setup, however as far as I know GM is detecting whether or not the fans are running with some current sensing in some cases and so the BCM can tell when the fans are not running in low speed and can force it in to high speed even before the temperature gets too hot.
It can also detect a failed fan sometimes, and then force the working fan to high speed to try and compensate.

You did better than I could have done. I would have walked dung dis rabbit hole different. Would have chased why the gauge reading normal and the MaxSys reading 224F. Would have sed to myself the temp sensor is in a gas bubble caused by head gasket gases… and just changed the head gasket, skim block and head and probably overhauled the engine. I would have been WRONG…

The reason for the three relays and the extra fuse, is that the AC turns on the low speed on its own.

    Wag1 G,
My Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue Diesel (UK Version), when I turn the AC on, the high speed fan kicks in intervals, and this never use to happen before. I use to hear the low speed fans, however, for the last 2 weeks the high speed fans keep on coming on each time I turn the AC on, what can be the symptoms of this problems ?
    Thank you big man

So i have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt 2.2L LT. The high speed fan runs constant and the car wont get up to operating temp.
I changed the temp sensor, thermostat water pump & coolant reservoir cap. I pulled relays and low speed works as well as high speed.
Temp sensor only reads wen CEL is erased, fans not on wen temp sensor is reading.
Car wont pass 150 degrees, then CEL comes back on (P0128) now high speed fan is on constantly again.
What do i check now? Please help

Then the wire from ecu to relay must be checked for continuity

    • @tulta3631
      @tulta3631 ปีที่แล้ว

Always check the voltage at fan pwr connector as well. Theses fans are wired in series for low speed and parallel in high speed. also check for GND continuity. The GND It is a double wired (one for each fan) blue with black stripe.
