I also want to move to Finland. I traveled last year for around four months through Scandinavia and stayed two months in Finland. (Finally, I wanted to go to Finland since my childhood) I had the same feeling like you as I arrived in Turku. The feeling of coming home immediately. I fell in love with the country, it's people and it's nature. Back home I'm in the same job as before. And every day I'm thinking why I didn't quit before travel... so now, I really want to move to Finland and drop everything here. But I also have a big respect of doing this and afraid of having not enough money (I literally have nothing). I'm really happy to see your videos and that there is someone out there who feels/felt the same. And it inspires me to just do it. Thank you Luke!

@@LukeBland I still live in switzerland. But my goal is to move abroad at latest next year in autumn. I'd love to move already this year... but yeah, maybe I should just do it. I would strand in Finland like you, just 1000.-, but I'm afraid of that. So, I'm really impressed what you did.

6:05 I was born in 1960 in Kallio, Helsinki. I was raised here and I learned to love this city. I've learned to love it so much that I'm not going to move anywhere from here even though I hate winters in Finland. I used to think that I'd move somewhere on northern sea coast being it Holland, Belgium or Brittain. But even when I do love belgian beers I've found out that this is my home. Now that I have the possibility to move back to my rearing areas of this city it is more than given that I will die in this city.

Amazing videos Luke! I have been to Finland 4 times myself. I feel lucky knowing that it would be extremely easy for me to move to Finland one day, thanks to my citizenship through mom! Not sure when I’d move there though, but I do know I want to get into the aviation industry… most likely at Helsinki International… or even Vaasa since I have family there. Still learning Finnish though. I love Finland so much, Suomi on todella Kaunas maa! Continue to enjoy Finland!

Great story Luke. Inspirational for me. Especially since I am contemplating a move there within a year, possibly sooner, from the US (Connecticut). I have met an unbelievable Finnish woman a couple years ago. We have been great friends & we have both decided we want to be more. I love the country (been there twice). Time to sell my belongings too and jump right in, feet first. My biggest fear is finding good work, but that will not stop me. Thanks for sharing your story and wish me luck as I wish the same for you and yours.

Hey again. Not sure if you’ll even see this post or not, but I have an update. I am currently doing the waiting game on my Residence Permit. It’s been 3 1/2 months since I applied. Could be anywhere from 1-3 1/2 months longer before I get the ok. You know how excruciating the wait can be. Lol. Anyways, just wanted to say hi again and I will look you up when I am there and settled in. Be well.

unrelated to the video but in middle school, my science teacher had a drone and we would use it for projects but the other science teacher was begging to use it. after a couple days of him constantly sending kids into our room our science teacher said yes. the day he returned it was broken because he wrecked it into a hill. moral of the story, he sucked. but my science teacher, Mr. Little, holy crap. he was awesome. during winter he had a whole cupboard of hot chocolate packets and if you were clearly having a bad day he would give you one. during fall it was a lot of different teas and in spring he would give out kool-aid. i just say the drone and it reminded me of him. one of my favourite teachers to this day.

I do share the best parts of my life on social media but don’t be fooled! We all have struggles. My family has also gone through some very hard things this year.. I don’t share those in the videos because they are private. I think it’s important, though, to have dreams and actually take the steps needed to achieve them. I’m still trying to achieve some of mine. Maybe I should make a separate video about this comment 😅
Anyway, thanks for your comment and I hope this answer brings a little perspective. 🙏🏼

    Hi Luke,
Perhaps you have already demonstrated it in other videos...i am wondering why did you speak English with the waitress in the coffee house?...what is your level of Finnish by now? do you speak the spoken Finnish? can you also read easy articles in the newspaper? i visited Finland 10 years, i loved the place. I would have moved there, had language been easier to learn. Anyway, i admire your guts to move there.
