Your sock project is so timely for me, because I had just returned to knitting socks recently after a hiatus of at least several months. I can't even remember how many different heels I tried, and there was something wrong with every one of them, including the shadow wrap (I have a vague memory of having to knit three stitches together, an absolute nightmare for a tight knitter). I'm very sure it was a commenter on your last episode who suggested Chilly Dog's tutorial for a modified shadow wrap heel, and I am now a happy sock knitter for the first time ever with this heel. I can't recommend it enough for someone like me, who has been through the heel knitting trenches and emerged defeated and disappointed. And whoever recommended that tutorial is an angel. Certified angel. 😇
I dislike picking up stitches and have watched a lot (way too many) of short-row heel videos. But, in my search, I came across the EarthtonesGirl podcast that was straight to the point and easy to follow. ** Kudos on the release of your first pattern. I look forward to the official release of your LBT** 👏🏼
Congratulations on the pattern release! I also want to put in a good word for the fish lips kiss heel as it’s been a lifesaver for me. I live thousands of miles away from my loved ones, but I have created templates of their feet according to Patty’s instructions and the socks fit EVERY TIME. The heel instructions are about a page and a half out of those 16 pages, and honestly, I don’t even need to look at them anymore.
Completely agree with you on the fish lip heel, I purchased the pattern last year and I am so overwhelmed by it that I haven’t even bothered to attempt it …. one day I might but feel I’ll need to be in the right frame of mind! 😂
❤❤❤ way to go Taylor! Very inspired by your journey. (And I too have a guitar that I have been pining to play on). Knitting and reading have been the priorities of late but its a 2024 intention.
Well, now I have the sock bug. So now I have to learn how to do socks. I’m a little afraid of a sweater but socks might be a good place to start making something to be warm again. I am binging your entire catalog and trying to remember to leave a statement periodically here and there as I work on finishing up a scarf.
100% agree about the flk heel. I rewrote it for my personal project binder (not posted or shared anywhere) to get rid of all the cruft. I'll try the shadow wrap heel next time though. Congrats on launching Frankie! Added to my queue. ♥️
The temptation to try a little black sweater on my very large size is tickling my fancy a bit. I haven't successfully knit a sweater in a long time. I might like to try one. You have 2 very good options here. Guitars are wonderful things. Enjoy.
Love this episode so much! Congrats on launching your pattern - can't wait to knit one soon! You have a lovely voice!! I think we'd like some more of that - a lot more 😊
Yeah! I’m so very happy for you Tayler!! Congratulations on releasing your first sweater pattern! 🎉 Whether it’s a hobby or the start of a new adventure, enjoy it and celebrate, you deserve it! I love your energy and enthusiasm for what you do. ❤
Thank you for waering your handknit sweaters. They are lovely. Of course you are a knitwear designer. We've known it all along. It may not be your primary purpose in wool arts, but it is definitely up there.🎉
I think it is great that you are able to create your own patterns. I crochet and knit and have been doing it for over 40 years now and I still have never done that. I think it takes a lot of patience and talent. I am currently addicted to tunisian crochet at the moment, but watching your channel is making me want to get back into knitting as well. I have never knitted anything for myself but want to. Music is a great way to relax. I play the piano, but I haven't played in over 20 years because it is hard to come up with and excuse to spend that much money just for a Piano. I have a keyboard but that is just not the same.
I’m so overwhelmed by the fish lips kiss heel pattern I have not been able to figure out. Especially since I wanted to use it on a sock for a gift where I was not going to ask them to do all those measurements. Thank you for sharing the shadow wrap heel because id like to get the same result!
So excited that you released the Frankensweater!!!! I have been wanting to knit it! Also I’m excited for the little black tee, but take your time! The more time you take the better the pattern will be ❤
I followed the creation of the Frankensweater and appreciate you writing up the pattern. Also - THANKS for letting us know about theLion Brand Fisherman yarn. Love it!
Well to be fair, the FLK heel pattern includes pages of sock fitting information, the heel instructions itself is only one page for each iteration (toe up or cuff down). I printed it as a PDF with just that page so I can quickly reference it when needed. The rest of the information included is so good, but if you don’t need it you can disregard it.
Can’t believe Frankie is alive!! 😂. I’m heading straight to Ravelry to put it in my favourites. Thank you Tayler PS: keep those Breakfast at Tiffany’s vibes going on the gee-tar. 😊❤
Congratulations on the Frankensweater pattern release! It looks so cozy! Loving the progress on Little Black Tee Too. You're a wizard...uh, Pattern Designer, Tayler! Thanks for sharing your insight on the shadow wrap heel, too.
Congratulations on the Frankensweater pattern release! About the Fish Lips Kiss Heel, it is one of my favourite heels to knit, and I did feel a bit disencouraged the first time I siffed through the pattern instructions. But it didn't take me long to realize that the juice of it, the part that matters is only 1 page long, if that. So, whenever I want to knit it, I go straight for that third or second to last page. I go straight to the point!
I am a new follower! Just found you about a week ago! Love your content and I find my self knitting and watching past episodes like you are the daily news for me 😂! I have your new sweater in my cart at Ravelry! I am more of a cardigan wearer and hoping you will design a nice cardigan one day (hint! Hint!) Also, I will try my first set of socks because of your inspiration. Maybe your favorite sock pattern is in the future? I will join your Patreon group if I can find it. You amaze me how far you have come in your knitting journey! I would like to buy some of your yarn also. Just have to figure out how. Little slow on getting around in this social media stuff. Keep up the good work. I very much enjoy your videos. ❤❤❤
oh my goodness, i've been so so excited about your Frankensweater pattern! congratulations on the release, i'm adding this to my collection right away ^_^
Definitely grabbing the Frankie pattern, even just to read through all the construction info and notes. I don’t need another sweater on my needles rn 😅 thank you ❤
I have tried every heel technique, lots and lots of them and I always go back to the standard heel flap, turn and gusset method. It just fits my foot the best. And you are absolutely right about the fish lip kiss heel, it took me forever to even try it because I was overwhelmed by all the information. It’s my second best fit but I don’t love it. Since hand knit socks tend to stretch with wear I find the heels that are worked without a flap and gusset tend to slip forward on me and bunch up in my shoes.
See, I think I will always fall back on the HF&G heel for the same reason..it fits perfectly and doesn't cause that forward slip that you mention. And it's just the better heel for wearing with shoes. ❤
Congratulations Tayler!! Frankie is a very lovely sweater. I especially like the neckband and how it lays at the base of your neck. I'm going to "favorite" the sweater on Ravelry for a future project. Great choice of yarn too. I've never been drawn to tweeds but I do like the way it looks on that sweater.
Love that you’re relearning guitar!! I have an acoustic Alvarez that my dad lent me. ❤. I also couldn’t resist buying a semi hollow body Gretsch electromatic for my birthday two years ago.
Congrats on your new pattern release! I've just purchased it, I'm itching to make one for my 'Miss 20 & I don't like knitwear' as she pointed out on one of your previous episodes, 'If you knit that, I'll so wear it', but she wants it in black, of course it's black
I have never knit a sweater, I have never knit anything for myself. That is about to change! On my way to raverly to purchase your pattern and cast on.
Will you be adding the inst for the cap sleeves from the initial "little black tee" with the one you are doing now? Have a great week! Enjoy your new guitar!❤
Welcome to the shadow wrap heel club! That is now my favorite heel, and hooray for the shoutout to the tutorial by Denise on EarthTones Girl which is super clear if anyone wants to learn it. I find this technique far easier than the straight German short row, the heel toe and gusset and the Gudrun heel...and faster to complete than the forethought and afterthought heels. It also fits so nicely and looks beautiful. Interesting that you thought it was taking time as it seems far faster than the others I have tried. (I also have the fish lips heel pattern and I agree that there is A LOT of text to wade through and that has stopped me from doing it. This SWH works just fine for me and I hope others give it a chance.
It really is a great heel. I look forward to trying it on a pair of my own socks. And Denise is such a lovely person with fantastic videos. It's my pleasure to spread the good word. 😊 Thank you Noelle!
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS you are most welcome! 😊 I am doing a heel toe and gusset on some Hibernal socks (Summer Lee again; I love the pattern) and I like it fine. But not as much as the shadow wrap! 😏
That sweater would be perfect for our -25 celcius with the wind chill day we’re having! I don’t see the links for the modified shadow wrap heel or Karen Templer’s raglan blog post…..could you please add those?
Hallo Taylor. Acht Arme! Was ich da alles machen könnte....❤
I am so excited. I bought the pattern and dangled if I don’t have a question already! The beginning of round is at the shoulder edge, correct? So when I begin the short row shaping, am I going across the shoulders the back, the shoulders and back?
Hi. One of your last year’s video you went to a Wool Festival. Where was that WF? A few of us are thinking of attending and just need to know more information about it for 2024. Thanks
Hi Rhoda! I actually never made it to a wool festival last year. We made some other plans for a family trip to Virginia to see good friends. The one I was considering was Trailing of the Sheep in Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho.
Am I missing the link to the Shadow Wrap Heel blog post? I looked in the notes for this episode, as well as the other two where you mention the method, and am not seeing it. Whose heel tutorial was it? I can google that. Thanks!
Please do not use distracting background music when you're talking. It's extremely distracting and I'm looking around thinking where's music coming from and all I want to do is listen to you, I don't want to have to listen to you and music. You are what I came for not the music, please, we want to focus on you. You're the important one, don't distract us with music. Thank you! :-)))))
That is funny. I started looking around thinking the music was coming from an open window or someplace. I would agree that the music does not add anything, that Taylor is enough.
I appreciate that you find value in my videos, however just to provide some insight and an additional perspective: the purpose of the music is to provide a bright mood and keep up the pace and momentum during a more promotional portion of the video. You may have noticed that the music is only present in a small portion of the video where I am essentially providing updates and promoting my sweater pattern (roughy 3 minutes of the video). As soon as that portion of the video is finished and I move on to the main content, the music is gone. This is intentional. Thank you for watching!
You can change the speed of the video if you click the gear icon under the progress bar. Personally I think Tayler has a good speaking cadence, but sometimes I will speed her up if I'm short on time.

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you enjoy this new episode. ❤
Check out The Frankensweater here:

And I am so glad you kept the Frankensweater name. Marketing gold.
Per the title- yes! You are! I may be a new fan, but I've respectfully disagreed every time I've heard you say "I'm not a designer" 😊
Tayler, you and Denise are my two favorite podcasters. Makes my day when either of you post.😊
Ah, I love that! I love Denise. She is truly such a wonderful person.❤

Those stand-out ribs make your basic sweater special! Nice. “Franken-saga.” 😂😂😂

What about that beautiful singing? I love the soft and yet clear sound of your voice ❤
Agree with your comments about FLK heel. Shadow wrap is also symmetrical, which my brain loves!
❤❤❤ way to go Taylor! Very inspired by your journey. (And I too have a guitar that I have been pining to play on). Knitting and reading have been the priorities of late but its a 2024 intention.

Wow, thank you! It always is such a special thing to read comments from folks in other corners of the world. I'm honored!
Such a beautiful sweater🩷
Thank you SO much!
unrelated to the shadow wrap heel - I love that Patons yarn for the socks!!
Oh for sure! It's great!
I would love to be a tester for you on your little black Tee, when you are ready for that. Thanks for considering me

MORE GUITAR !!! What did you get ?! I wonder how many of us knitter-crafter-art makers play ?! Would love to see THAT acquisition !!!
Ooo thank you for asking! I'll definitely show it on the next one. It's a Seagull S6 Cedar Slim. It's a great guitar!

Any chance of a discount coupon code on Ravelry for the Frankensweater?
Did you use short rows in the Frankensweater?
I did! And I'm using them in the tee as well. However my next sweater will use the staggered start method. 👍
💫
What app are you using to show your pattern?
Hi Amanda! This is is the Ravit app. 👍
Where did you get your mannequin?
I got Gladys from Amazon. Here's the link: amzn.to/3wsHoBA

@@amarisjoseph I didn't think the comments were disrespectful at all. I think people want to get feedback on what is included on their channels.
I think your guitar needs tuning. No offense.
Nope. That's just me that needs tuning. But thanks anyway.
You talk so incredibly fast - I find it difficult to understand all that you are saying.
You can change the speed of the video if you click the gear icon under the progress bar. Personally I think Tayler has a good speaking cadence, but sometimes I will speed her up if I'm short on time.
Yay, on your guitar!! My guitars eat into my knitting time too, but then they're an addiction all their own. lol
Enjoy, it's so relaxing to just sit and play.
