The opposite can also be the case: A German TV show called "Halligalli" (basically two comedians fooling around doing random stuff) once proved this rather impressively: They wanted to win a "Goldene Kamera" ("golden camera"), a German TV/movie award. So, they called the agency organizing the award show and were told that everything was already finalized and no additional awards were planned. However, when they registered a fake star agency, made a convincing website and assured the awards agency that Ryan Gosling was going to appear to accept a prize, all of a sudden they were able to make it work and awarded a prize to La La Land which Gosling was supposed to accept, representing the studio. They then came onto the award show with a guy who looked somewhat similar to Gosling dressed up nicely and actually got away with the award after uncovering his identity right before leaving the stage. Later, the award company assured the press that they had already planned to award La La Land, but couldn't convince anyone to come to Germany to accept the award, and that was the only reason why they were immediately ready to include Ryan Gosling in the show, not because having an A list celebrity there would raise the prestige of the golden camera...

And I mean EVERY movie, I pictured these people sitting in movie theaters for hours on end watching movies or something. So uuuhhhh, apparently not how it works.
One of the reasons anime movies basically never wins or gets nominated. A lot of academy voters even refuse to watch the few Ghibli movies that sometimes gets nominated (and that that would only be possible with the help of John Lasseter). No other anime movie except Ghibli (at least recently) has even gotten nominated. There was even a voter who called it: “...Obscure freakin' Chinese f***ing' things that nobody ever freakin' saw”. The fact that Japanese studios can't campaign as much in the US and that anime is viewed as "for nerds" makes it so that many amazing anime movies don't even get considered. Even Your Name, a film that broke so many records, barely got considered as a nominee.

+greyson rhodes I'd have to disagree, I understand it's your opinion but bare with me. The reason Leo's performance in The Revenant is so amazing is because he spends most of the movie barely even speaking. All of his emotions are brought to life through his various physical and facial expressions along with his grunting, etc. As you sat in the theater Leo made you feel exactly what his character was feeling at every moment of the film. It takes incredible acting to immerse a viewer into a film without many words being spoken. Now I myself love The Wolf of Wallstreet and also believe Leo should've won an oscar for that, but The Revenant was just a different beast.
speaking of Hollywoo, every time I hear Adam Conover's voice now I just hear "A Ryan Seacrest Type" or the red headed kid on Horsin Around. he does so many voices now it's weird but cool hearing him in bigger budget projects now. also Bojack Horseman is life.

The Netflix dude was played by Ray Wise, who has a gift for playing oily executive or skeevy lawyer types. Needless to say, this particular role was the perfect fit for him! However, I most fondly remember him as Leon Nash in the original RoboCop. His best moment there was an ill-advised kick to RoboCop's groin at the dance club, and then getting dragged out of the club by his hair. Also, his expression and reaction to his toxified partner-in-crime near the big climax was downright priceless.
***** It can't be impossible to find better writers. I find it actually difficult to laugh at their videos, like a skill. They have these huge production values, but _all_ their jokes just _suck_.
Imagine CollegeHumor as the Star Wars movies. The difference, is instead of them sitting on your shelf, they randomly end up in your feed in any possible order. If watching collegehumor meant watching all the videos I like in succession, it would be fine, but the quality is so spotty, I often have to avoid the channel completely to avoid absolutely traumatizing levels of not good, and unfunny.
+Pine Straker: Actually subjectivity means a lot along with bias. The definition of subjective is kind of contradictory. Subjective is the judgement of something based on experiences and feelings without outside influence. Doesn't outside influence create your judgements and feelings? Unless you are getting directly paid or the anticipation of compensation, it can influence your judgement due to prior experiences. It basically says Judges, Congress, Mayors, a Prime Ministers, and Presidents possible lack integrity. How can your truly trust the world when all you need to do is slide them a few thousands or possibly millions to sway the vote in their favor. It takes a strong person to turn down thousands and millions of their currency and maybe the threat of death.
You don't need to choose movies based on the Oscars, the reason people respect them so much over other awards is because they're so well known and constantly marketed.

People are just figuring this out. I was shocked when I found out a lot of people still watch the Grammys
A lot of people are delayed reaction.
Remember 2014 when people were like "ethics in gaming jurnalizm" and I was like "You learned in 2014 what I learned in 2002. Do none of you people remember the whole Kane and Lynch Fiasco or the Driv3r scandal? Or even noticed a pattern?"
Pull up then there's nothing to "figure out" because it's not true. Those sources don't even exist.
Grammy’s might be a worse offender cause not only you pay to win you have to do perform music too in front of the Grammy voters.

So... couldn't Leo have just bought the oscar years ago?
he doesn't decide what the movie producers spend the budget on
if were being honest this is probably why it took so long in the first place, in fact he most likely only got the one he did because people made such a big deal over it
+tumatauenga the revenant certainly wasn't his best performance. in my opinion he should've won for both Django unchained and the wolf of wall Street.
Yes, but it was cheaper to become the running gag of the Oscars and then to finally get an Oscar out of pity.
It WAS him on BoJack Horseman!!
He does the kid in the trench coat? Awesome! He works at the office factory.
No that's Alison Brie(who voices Diane). He also voices Bradley Hitler-Smith.
+NotVeryAmusing it's funny cause sometimes when Diane starts nerding out or talking awkwardly and gutturally you can totally hear Vincent Adultman in her voice lol.
I can't tell you how much I love that show
I see, no wonder I always think "why is this movie I don't even know exist won?" This explain a lot.

The guy talking about Netflix played Robins dad on How I Met Your Mother
Robin Charles Scherbatsky Sr. I love HIMYM.
This is the best thing by collegehumor in years.

+Callie Sullivan You know that Adam Ruins Everything was a CollegeHumor show until TruTV got it, right?
Imagine CollegeHumor as the Star Wars movies. The difference, is instead of them sitting on your shelf, they randomly end up in your feed in any possible order. If watching collegehumor meant watching all the videos I like in succession, it would be fine, but the quality is so spotty, I often have to avoid the channel completely to avoid absolutely traumatizing levels of not good, and unfunny.

Soo question... Why the hell those ''voters'' decide what is a ''great movie'' ? Last I saw, entertainment like movies were quite..subjective.
there are always both subjective and objective criteria for what makes good art.
Preference and determined quality both have a place in art.
I actually happen to have a blog post on that very topic where I attempt (I think successfully) to contest the common ideas about how to judge films- please check it out if ur interested, if not dw...
