    The Sony MDR 7506 is the export/global version of the MDR-CD900ST according to the Sony pro audio website. Blessings!

    I've have a pair of sony MDRV6'S and I love them. I use my LG smartphone with a built-in DAC and they play very loud...loud enough. I went to Best Buy and plugged in about eight different pairs of open back and much more expensive headphones and im telling you these Sony MDR v6s sounded way better than everything else I tried. I'm not a sound professional by any means but I do appreciate good quality sound.

    I just read at headfonia that this headphone and the Shure SRH840 original sound almost exactly alike. The writer of the review wonders if maybe the same guy who used to work at Sony went over to Shure years later and made a similar sounding headphone

    Hi! I’m very new to this, but I’m going to college for a music program and we need to get studio headphones. I was wondering what you recommend (I’m going to go through your videos to see, but would also appreciate hearing to current opinion!). After the program, I plan to keep making music of course, and I am very rap and hip-hop centered.

    How much does the sound signature change with yaxi pads? Compare to the stock pads.

  • @IrOnCuRtAiN61
    @IrOnCuRtAiN61 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have both the MDR-CD900ST and the YAXI stPad2, and for some reason I'm not satisfied about the result both with no EQ and using an EQ preset specifically for this combo on AutoEQ. 🤔
    The sweetspot for me is to use the similar stock pads of audio-technica ATH-M40x to my CD900ST with crinacle's EQ preset (ears-711) from AutoEQ using Peace Equalizer, and to me the sound signature is almost the same as the latter's stock pads, minus the slightly warm mid-bass of my M40x!

  • @AlKohaiMusic
    @AlKohaiMusic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Good review. Replacement pads are for sure better but stock pads I wouldn't say are Painful. Naturally this is all subjective stuff. But since it's a review a customer might look at i thought I'd voice my perception. Yaxis are an improvement but not requirement if you dont want to spend 20% of what the headphones cost on pads

  • @tfries72
    @tfries72 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    How does it compare to the 7506 in your opinion. I love the 7506 with upgraded ear pads but eventually would love to upgrade this seems like the obvious answer when that time comes.
    Also what DAC/amp are you using?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't heard the 7506 in a very long time, like 5 years ago. I don't think the difference is much at all. Sorry I can't give a fair comparison.
      I used all sorts of gear, I don't recall what I had on my desk at the time of the review. I did try it on a Allen & Heath QU-24 board at church several weeks. I also have a Mytek Liberty DAC. If anything else was mentioned in the review then I used that as well. Sorry been awhile since this review.

    • @tfries72
      @tfries72 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheHonestAudiophile all good thanks for the fast reply. Maybe later down the line I’ll upgrade but I’ll probably just keep using the 7506 with upgraded pads for now. If anything I’ll upgrade my DAC/amp I’m using a D1 and it’s definitely outdated at this point.

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With the Japanese Yen as weak as it is currently (and conversely the USD as strong as it is at the moment), it is a relatively easy decision. You can get an MDR-CD900ST from Japanese Amazon for about $100 excluding shipping and taxes, while I paid $100 for my MDR-7506 at Guitar Center (too many fake 7506s on Amazon) in 2018. Of course, there is the little warranty thing but there is only three months labor warranty on the MDR-7506s anyway. So if you were thinking of getting another MDR-7506 in the near future, it makes sense to just get an MDR-CD900ST now instead (they are Made in Japan as well).

    • @7894-q4g
      @7894-q4g 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, I am not the channel owner/OP but I am using a JDS Labs Atom amp with my MDR-7506 and it is great. It is basically the ultimate/perfect amp (as reviewed by audiosciencereview) for just $100 and made in the US as well (yes, you read that right!) It can easily power headphones with much higher impedances than the 63 ohms of the MDR-7506/CD900ST and has no color/distortion (if you want color then why not just use a software equalizer? But then I must admit I am in the objectivist camp. On the other hand, if I were a subjectivist then I would probably not be the slightest bit interested in the MDR-7506 or MDR-CD900ST in the first place...)

  • @Elazarko
    @Elazarko 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey! Would you recommend these Sony CD900ST specifically to use with a digital piano for acoustic pianos, Rhodes and other classic instruments? I'm not producing or mixing so I don't want a boring flat sound but I still want to have a balanced, detailed, roomy and great imaging headphone. are the Rode NTH-100 a better choice? Sennheiser 6xx/650? Possibly one of the AKG models? Any suggestions? Thank you!

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't heard the Sony since I reviewed them. They do sound better after a pad change as mentioned in the video.
      The Rode NTH-100 in my opinion is the best reproduction of sound I have heard from a monitor. Our Roland piano is accurately reproduced by it. But I have no way of doing a side by side comparison.

      @@TheHonestAudiophile I understand the following are different headphones but I'm still in-between with my decision. The Røde nth100 seems great though I'm still considering the Sennheiser 560S as well as the Fostex t50rp mkiii blue from drop.. Do you have any experience with them and how they sound and feel different from the røde nth100 when listening to instrumental music like blues Jazz and orchestra concerts..? Thank you so much!

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't heard the Drop Dekoni Blue but I've heard other T50 variants. The Rode has more accurate, natural tone and timbre.
      As for the Sennheiser 560s, they have a wider stage and a more airy presentation since they are open back. The Rode is more neutral, slightly better tone and timbre and aren't as aggressive in presentation.

    Hi, recently i’ve purchase jade ea1, i think they sound very good, but the eartips is pretty weird, small ones are really small, and medium ones are little bit large. I did try to offer “rha dual density” but my country is not available to shipping. I got some questions,
    1. What size of “rha” should i buy, if i will find them. If ea1 tips medium is bigger than i need, and small is smaller.
    2. What else ear tips can i try to find. Is the spinfits are good? And what size compared to jade audio sizes.
    3. Should i take moondrop ssr for my jade audio ea1 or i need better to buy something more expensive? What do you think is the next step of jade audio ea1? Mention please few of your favorites 50-100$

    • @TheHonestAudiophile
      @TheHonestAudiophile  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no idea what size RHA tip would fit your ears as all ears are different. I use medium tips from RHA. I do not know about Spinfit and what size to use with EA1.
      I recommend the following IEM in the $50-100:
      Etymotic ER2XR
      Moondrop SSR
      Tin Hifi T3
      Moondrop Aria 2021
      CCA CKX
      KZ ZSX
      I am glad you enjoy the Jade Audio EA1, they are a great value and sound fantastic.

    I found CD900ST too bright, harsh, and sterile. Occasionally nasal. Nope. I tried Brainwavz pads to see how they change, and it brought some improvements but the sound is still too bright, harsh, and sterile. Nope. I didn't like all that about 7506 and V6. I've also tried 7520 and SA3000, and I think I'm done with Sony. I thought 7510 was alright, just not my cup of tea. MDR-1R is very nice with the right tweaks, but I didn't like it enough to want to keep it in my collection. I was hoping to like CD900ST based on what I've been told about it, but ultimately no.
