Glad that people really enjoy this song, when I saw him on his solo D&D tour,he always said this a band song,so keep hoping he'll play it with the E St band, one day!!
opening night of the devils & dust tour at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. What a show! Maria's Bed was great performance but I loved when he played for you & the real world on Piano. That was awesome.
I love love this acoustic version of this song. I wish he would've have recorded it this way on the album. What a great song writer and musician that man is. The Boss.
I miss my horses and the Bruce that was. Perhaps my salvation will come to light in the arms of another. I'll bet he will believe it is his Lucky Day. Enjoy Maria's Bed. Your True Blue is Leaving You.
The song isn't about a woman. It's a very cleaver play on words. Maria's bed is actually the Santa Maria river bed. Now listen to the song again with this in mind..Oh and this is from Bruce himself.
I was fortunate enough to see both the Ghost of Tom Joan tour and the Devils & Dust tour here in Toronto. The D&D show blew the Joad tour away. I don't think it had anything to do with the crowd or the venue, it was all about the setlist. As much as I love this song (I agree, best song on D&D) I'd LOVE to hear Maria's Bed played with the full band, though. Maybe without the falsetto?
@PhillyAnnie Sorry Annie. I can't disagree with you more. I too am a long time fan. When it comes to acoustic albums, Nebraska and The Ghost are so much better.
Best ever Bruce album. Closely followed by magic. Which was magic.
Took a while but that album really grew on me and I especially like this song. And a far underrated guitar player!!
One of the most underated cds of all time !
Long Long Long time Bruce fan...still think this is one of his best albumns ever!

Saw Bruce in concert years and years ago. Love the raw music and great lyrics. No dancers or special effects necessary. Just good music.

A helluva underrated song. I want this to get the E Street so bad.
+carty43 Alot of their post 2000s stuff is underrated.
What makes this so disarming is that he's not performing in the E Street style here.
Man, i LOVE this song!!!

it reminds me of Kim Larsons music, Sadly Kim Larson passed away not long ago
ANYTHING bruce is more rocking and energetic than most bands are...shedding dead skin cells, breathing, fingernails growing...just BEING! ha
@PhillyAnnie sure but there will always be a darkness on the edge of town.
SWEET!
makes me want to change my name to Maria...Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce
Does anyone know what internal mic Bruce uses to get this percussive acoustic sound?
Thanks
The guitar tuning is CGDGBD capo 5 = C key
@mikesirony that it is) don't know how this got by me..
Epic, tune guitar to CGDGBD capo 5 and groove on with a bit of delay
Thank you for that. Just the info I needed!
@tourmalinehunter yeah would have been worth it!!
Now, if that aint the business:-)
This album never received it's due . I think it was better than Nebraska .
