If you've been around the 40K hobby for a while, you probably have seen the Praetorian Guard at some point. They were OOP when I started collecting Imperial Guard, so it was a hard fought battle to collect my own. Now...‪@AnvilindustryTV‬ have come up with this own awesome British Space Force to help us all out-either by filling in the gaps in large armies, or to start from scratch! There'll also be a physical release in future if you don't have access to a 3D printer!

I've still got the original Praetorian metal army box around somewhere. I just moved, so no telling exactly where they are. Hopefully somewhere in the garage.

Nice sculpts. Don't think I need any more projects currently but it's always good to see the 3d printing community stepping up to fill in spaces that are missing out there. There also normally incredibly good value too so it's making gaming accessible to more people.

Ah gamesday, I miss them so much they were so good. And I remember the praetorian board and also loved them so much as soon as I saw them. On a side note I also loved Zulu remember watching it with my grandad one of the movie that first fuelled my love of history, which we should not shy away from, history is there to be learned from people trying to pretend things never happened and ignore history don’t learn anything.
Anyways tangents aside great video Andy and well done Anvil for bringing back an amazing guard regiment.

Great vid. I always wanted to paint them with karki uniforms and white piffle helmets, like the "great game" regiments

I was lucky to buy an army deal for the preatorian guard in Canada. About 200 minis back in the mid 1990s. Still have the majority including about 9 metal sentinels

I have tried doing Praetorian conversions on Cadians and Kasrk. I have done 3 test schemes and I swear, that color scheme is my kryptonite. Fell in love watching your video from last year. After i finish my spearheads I guess i will give it a 4th try.

I'm one of the rare few who got the whole box back then, i've been able to get them painted up at last just this year. It seems GW reeeeeeally doesn't want to talk about them any more and i cannot fathom why. They even had Peachy make a whole new regiment (and granted it is an awesome one) to avoid mentioning them. It's just a historical era like any other, they literally had Steel Legion up for MTO and they're based on the bloody Wehrmacht/Blackshirts! Hell they have White Scars everywhere with the Mongol Horde vibe to them.

That commissar on horse is such a gorgeous model!!! I’ve got lots and lots of Brittan’s Zulu and British soldier metal models, including 1 of 250 limited edition houses from Rawks drift that they made

Great video! I once had a very large Praetorian army which I was incredibly proud of, given I'd scraped it together working twice a week at a supermarket. Unfortunately, I allowed it to be 'borrowed' by my brother's friend when I fell out of the hobby for a while. They had a falling out, and I lost virtually everything! I'm fighting folks on eBay to reclaim part of that force (only 7 models so far), so i might consider this 3D option - looks so good with your painting scheme. Looking forward to more of these videos!

9k, i'm sold. I have the 2 example minis. I find the female a bit too small so will enlarge her to a better size. I really like the range and thanks to you i'm buying in lol.

How could you do this Andy? Showing off these models of the only guards regiment I’d ever be interested in buying, painting and playing. Fortunately my pile of shame is currently such that I can for now resist, but that maxim team is sooooo tempting! You should also check out Victoria Miniatures, Victorian Guard, they also do the Cavalry models for these guys too!

Amazing. I'm more of a Vostroyan fan myself. But these guys are still pretty cool, we have someone locally who collects and even cosplays them.
I miss Games Day, the first one I went to they had an awesome Assault on the Imperial Palace board with a lovely converted Sanguinius model.
The last one I went to they had the life size Drop Pod at the entrance that was awesome.

I grabbed the early bird kickstarter for these and can’t wait for the stls to be released. I plan on printing out both a Praetorian and a Mordian army from these.
Love the paint job as usual Andy👍🏻

I think the Praetorians never came out as they're too hard to trademark. They're 19th century British infantry men with laser rifles.
It's a shame because they're great models (still holding out for plastic Mordians one day)

Zulu is a great wargaming movie, I mean, with the possible exception of Laurence of Arabia, it has provided more tabletop quotes for my wargames than any other movie I can think of! Really looking forward to that mounted commisar though!

You know, I found that I had fallen into the trap of thinking of weapons that could kill heavy stuff. So my weapons teams were Missile Launchers and Las Cannon. Then I realised there were squishy things to deal with, that if they got into the right place could hide and claim an objective. So mortars became far more interesting to me and I expanded my arsenal of weapons to deal with all targets.

I've been dodging the acquiring of a printer for a long time, i don't want my pile to grow even larger...yes... i admit i'm a miniature addict, but with each passing day the minis become more awsome and it gets harder to resist...
As always cool video, that mounted commissair looks awsome, would love to see that painted.

Point 1. While the Zulu wars were colonial in nature, the movie was not racially sensitive. In fact it portrayed the Zulu as a disciplined and honourable foe. Just technologically disadvantaged. So producing the Veterans of the Big Toof River, is not, in my opinion, politically incorrect.
Point 2. Just as an afterthought, you could always paint the cuffs and collars of the lads, dark blue. These were the facings that the Welsh Borderers wore while on campaign in Africa.

    • @ThisNameWasntUs3d
      @ThisNameWasntUs3d 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

Welsh Borderer's facings are Green, not dark blue 👍
