I had a 2009 SL63 oh my God what a car, I bought it second-hand from the original owner you had a little bit of an accident damaging the suspension and underbody so I was able to pick the car up for pennies on the dollar and being a mechanic I was able to repair the car back to pristine condition with the addition of the SL65 black Fender Flares and rear spoiler but I did not weld the roof like a SL65 black so the rear spoiler just in a fixed position. Beautiful it was a beautiful car but they do require more maintenance than your average car and the parts and labor is not cheap. But I really enjoyed the car for the six years I had it until I sold it and got a Porsche 991 Turbo.

Best SL R230 Facelift! Beats the new ones, love the R230 SL63/65!! The R230 are the best looking SL's compare to the new ones!
Sorry, but some things are better left alone....the original design of the SL500 R230 is the standalone best designed SL since the 1950's gulwing, should not be face lifted.
Totally agree with your comment on the new ones (2016-2018) what the hell ?? they're going to age quicker than a bad Beverley hills facelift surgery with their ultra aggressive front ends !! sooooooo ordinary looking !
Summary: Its a close run thing between this R230 & next-level-up 2012/13. HOWEVER, the latest 2018/19 models have lost their elegance externally... oooff a bit ugly.
MAIN: Salivating on the silver SL 350, just dropped a deposit on a 2009 /33K SL305 silver classic. (Sans AMG body kit . Yep I think it R230 is a Merc TIMELESS CLASSIC look, but I love also the hornet eye look of the model up front end Classy yet aggressive. However, & maaan!... 737 cockpit beauty interior aside WTF was Mercedes thinking with the Rear & detailing of the 2018+ models ? They've lost class for me, too much Drama ... just brute aggression.. Would not buy 2018/19 SL.. when time comes Ill skip that.. probably for a Vantage or AMG-R230 business willing and Mrs (at that time) accepting..
Nah... My R231 interior is light years better than the dated R230's interior. R231 is aluminum and not a rust bucket, like the R230s. R231 is definitely more masculine looking than the R230... they seem more like a woman's car, but not the R231. The R231 is faster, lighter, gets much better gas mileage, I could go on. Yes, I'm offended, but you started it. Lol
own a 2011, IMO, greatest car EVER made, serious, in the history of the automobile it's an updated R230!!!!!

Wir hatten vor kurzem einen SL R230 bei uns zur Aufbereitung.
Die Lackierung mit dem sehr harten Nano Lack ist top bei Mercedes.
Der Lackzustand war leider durch wöchentliche Wäsche mehr als Katastrophal ☹️
Sehr viele tiefe Kratzer die gerade bei Schwarz Lack den gesamten Eindruck schmälern.
Wir haben den Mercedes SL mehrstufig poliert und sind zum Abschluss eine High Finish Politur gefahren.
Zum Schutz des Lacks wurde eine der besten Keramik verwendet .
Absoluter Blickfang nach der Aufbereitung.

At this time my dream was to own a wine red Sl600 R230 Facelift with beige seats and wood trim.
It was a really god dream, but now i prefer other cars...

Nah... the interior of the R231 is light years better and more modern. The R231 is not a rust bucket, like many R230. And the R231 is more masculine looking. My 2 cents.
The 01>07 is a much nicer looking car. Especially the front. The “facelift” looks too boxy in the front. The shark nose is gone. Still nice, but the 01>07 is nicer.

Yes, but prettier and looks feminine, like a woman's car. The R231 is the most masculine looking between the two, for sure.

I'll have the fire mist red with the tan interior... don't bother raping it , I'll take it as it is!!.😎
