Purpose of rope: to hang someone upside down or just hang them by the neck or hang like an animal or anything in the world
Purpose of nails: that way you don’t have to hold the rope down and you can just nail it in and keep the rope still

If I remember correctly you pull on the R2. You can let go slightly and pull it back and your character will yank on it. Or you could just hold the r2
