Satya, lonely, abandoned somewhere by his parents, hurting, grows up alone, a lone wolf, understands the ways of this unfair world, knows his only chance is his inner will. Ultimately becomes the Ice to Bhiku Mhatre's Fire. It was only going to take an unhinged outsider like him to eliminate the evils of Jagga, Guru & Bhau. Hats off to Chakravarthy for how he played this.

So many great actors were seen in Satya before they became well-known. Manoj Pahwa in this scene. Sanjay Misra in the road-side murder sequence. In the lock-up scene after the sequence Misra just brings agony to life - his leg is broken and just his portrayal of anticipatory agony as the cop approaches him makes the viewer start feeling his pain of being tortured by the cop with that broken leg. One of the finest piece of acting in Hindi cinema. Sad that Chakravarti did not have much of a career after this stellar debut.

Movies like Shiva and Satya changed the face of Bollywood, the movies were very realistic to the point of being scary. These movies created a new genre of Indian cinema. I think after the fight, Bhikkhu realises that Satya is the guy who is not afraid of him.. it might have hurt his pride because he (Satya) is the only one who will not bow to him and will surely fight back). it's better to befriend him than have an enmity with him ....
