You probably download obs-midi-mg, not obs-midi. The first one will only "work" with obs 28 (just tried and could´t set it up); the latter will only work with obs27 or earlier version (lots of problems but at least I was able to hook it up with my midi keyboard). Confusing I know.
Learned the basics of OBS and streaming this weekend and this video helped me to map my AKAI LPD8 midi controller to OBS. Thanks for this video as it was really helpful and simple to do.

Do I need a special pre-config for the X-Touch Mini buttons? When I want to configure and add some buttons in OBS MIDI Settings it doesn't work. If I press a button, normally it should show the Channel and Note/ control of the button like in the video. But when I press a button, nothing happens. What can I do? A lot of my buttons are used for VoiceMeeter, is this a Problem that it is not possible to use the other buttons for OBS?
hello, but is it possible to check both obs and the rest of the pc? example if I use the midimixer program, I can control app, volume and everything I want, but if I use it then the midi plugins on obs doesn't go and vice versa. so either I use the midimixer program or I use the plugins on obs, do you have solutions to make the keyboard go to both obs and external software?

great vide. I have been trying to assign multiple sounds tracks to the same volume slider but it wont let me. I get a message saying that its already in use. is there a way to assign multiple tracks to the one slider?
You could let the developers know. However, at the moment the development is relatively slow. I think that the ability to change two volume sliders at the same time may only be coming with the integration of macros which is in development based on the information on the projects GitHub Repository.

Thanks for the video. Im using my softube console 1 and it works great. you just need to shut down the softube software.. Also do you have any idea how to config it to say turn off a web cam in a source. I cant find out how to trigger hotkeys... Thanks again... This is so nice...

@@ChrisSpiegl the programming of the midi was still the same thankfully. Used it today to record a tutorial, only for changing scenes and starting and stopping record. It’s pretty handy to have that functionality rather than using keyboard shortcuts 👍🏻
Great video! I do not own a midi controller yet, but your videos really make me want to get one! With Makros working it would be very close to the stream decks by elgato, for a fraction of the price.
Hi, I would say you are correct. However, I now have to say that the price is just one aspect. Functionally, the Stream Deck is far superior to the Midi Controller. Mainly because there is software to customize things and there are more compatibilities. So if I'd choose again… I'd go with the Stream Deck and the Companion app for example.
why is the midi interface i have with the same software so completely different than what is here on this presentation. nowhere near as intuitive and certainly nothing at all with macros..also 0.9.3 3.66?
I have the same setup as you, the xtouch mini but I am running Windows 10. I looked at the other video you have mentioned and set everything up, however, both Protokol and OBS MIDI doesn't seem to be reading anything when i play the dials, fader or buttons. I tried a different application called MIDI OX and that is able to read the xtouch mini. Would you know what the fix may be?
Hi, great to see more people using this great device. Since I do not use Windows, I can't really say much about what may be going on for you but I hope you can figure it out. Maybe you have to do some setup with MIDI devices system wide? Maybe it's about selecting the right one? Making sure it's driver is recognized?
Welp..this is gonna need a whole lot more coverage in order to even get it working on mac. I don't even see 'obs midi tools' in the 29.1.x release. Tons of folks having the same issue as seen in the 'issues' page for the plug. Big meh on the dev side of things unfortunately. Had super potential, but if people are trying to use this and rely on it and there's no dev support for quicker releases, it's a bust.
Sadly, sometimes open source means that things don't get supported or further developed at some point. That's the reality of using something "free". I can't fault the developer either since I have stopped working on things in the past / covering topics simply because I no longer was interested in the thing. That's how life goes sometimes. Though, I do agree: the potential for MiDi and OBS was (and still is) huge.

I love such solution but as like Linux only for lovers and masochists 😂 dint get me wrong I like to see all the efforts not buying expensive solutions that can do this out of the box the

It should be possible to use the controller for both at the same time. Maybe somehow the device names are not linked up correctly?

As mentioned in the video, macros sadly are not yet implemented. But the creator has plans to support macros in the future.

Probably. But why not do auto transitions with plugins for OBS that do auto transitions?

We need to update the lesson. Because of updates in OBS it doesn't work anymore
been wondering why OBS has no MIDI support since 2016. Voice meeter banana has had it forever.
