Paul Zink....I agree completely with your assessment....I've always thought of her as the quintessential soprano. I've always been a proud old schooler, hanging on to the likes of Caballe, Tebaldi, Sutherland, Horne, but this stunning performer has earned a special place in that roster. She has it all, and we should consider ourselves lucky to have heard her in our lifetimes.
Her voice was ideal at that point having more weight and power than it did in the 70’s. Yet retaining its silkiness. The voice catapulted through the MET in the mid 1990’s.
A wonderful voice and dramatic performance. Kiri really does portray an elegant, dignified woman scorned by a scoundrel for whom she still has feelings. This performance is much more dramatic than her performance in the movie by Losey.
Bless all the teachers of Dame Kiri, including Dame Sister Mary Leo R.I.P., and all those she taught, more famous or less, for they can all remind us fervently of why we so often wish to live to a great age and hear beauty, down here, on earth also. I'd say that was Sutherland; but I agree that Dame Kiri has the most beautiful voice in Mozart operas I've EVER heard. It was her Countess that first lit my opera fuse, so I feel forever indebted to her.

Learn to speak English! Dame Kiri went onto sing another 20 years after this performance singing her final Marschallin in 2010 and her final recital in 2016. She was one of the greatest singers of the 20th/21st century and her Donna Elvira has few rivals. The only thing that is a joke is you trying to use google translate to speak English and making a fool out of yourself.

But I’m with the majority who don’t like her sound even her self... about my English, is sad for you to whom just speak one language and have to do this poorly... I can communicate in 7 others languages and I have 3 as mother languages .... I don’t go to your low level ...

I've never liked her as Donna Elvira, her voice hasn't got the right "weight" for this role. Elvira is not Zerlina...
