In the summer of 1969 this song was released. At that time I was in a US Army helicopter unit, stationed at the Nha Trang Airbase. Whenever our Hueys were up in the air, if a good song came on our AFVN (Armed Forces Viet Nam) radio, the pilot would "plug" us into the sound and we'd all sing to the song, especially this one. It was the wildest time of my life, flying at tree top level so that the bad guys couldn't shoot us (we'd fly past them so fast they could not aim and shoot). We flew in the Central Highlands region from the coastal regions by the South China Sea, all the way up to the border of Cambodia and Laos. We partied hard and sang loud with all that our hearts could bare. We never knew if we had another day of life, so we celebrated the one day we were living. Now I'm 73, and I'm looking back and wondering how I survived that war. Thanks to musical groups like Steppenwolf for entertaining us back then and giving us hope for the chance to see another day...!!

Easy Rider might have been a good move, but I still say Fonda was an a$$hole, acting all tough on his twitter account and bullying Barron Trump... just to get a rise out of President Trump.

Peter Fonda noted it was Dennis Hopper who selected the Easy Rider Soundtrack. And Dennis modeled his Billy characterization after The Byrds David Crosby who was the epitome of Hippydom of the time, I shared that with David when he was on Facebook from time to time before he sadly recently passed on, I read his books as well when he was still with us.

I remember seeing this movie as a kid on ABC on a Thursday, the next day I was cutting the forks on my schwinn bicycle and extending the forks and adding a longer sissy bar on the banana seat, that movie changed my life, now(at 58) I'm a bicycle mechanic and still build and ride chopper style bicycles.😊
I remember, as a DJ, going through a stack of new 45s in a production booth with my program director. When we auditioned this song, we just looked at each other. We instantly agreed that it would be the start of something big.
The first song I think I remember hearing, like ever, I remember my dad sing along to it in a winniebago, it’s like one of my first memories, it was outside my house where my garage is now, I always like paired the memory with it and my dad, like my dad sung it to me I think and I remember it making me happy! I sure miss him….I still have his motorcycle, I always will
These sceneries from 1960s amaze me. Knowing that even if I get one of these bikes, take a vacation and go wild and running like them, I will never get to feel and experience the same exotic environment that was there once. Now we have got people setting forests on fire just because of some stupid party and what not. The wilderness is just getting destroyed :(
this is true, but I've done some trips by motorcycle and I can recommend you to go to West Africa but u have to plan your trip and try not to go to known places (its the worst that u can experience because they are usually changed for tourists)
Yes but climate change is part of the reason for forest fires and previous generations caused that unwittingly by having fun driving around for no reason.
This is the first song I learned to play on the eletric guitar, first time I tried the distortion... Years later I totally forgot, so long ago... But right now, I still can feel the awe when I press play.
This song kinda helped me and my uncle get along. I used to kinda dislike the fact that he was so rough on me and my family in the past. But one day I helped him fix his Harley, while fixing it, this song was playing in the background and we started jamming out to it. It was a good time.

The quintessential counterculture biker anthem immortalized in Easy Rider. I’ll always imagine Wyatt (Peter Fonda) and Billy (Dennis Hopper) riding their choppers into eternity after meeting a tragic end in the classic film -finally free from the intolerance and violence they encountered as depicted in the movie. I remember, as a DJ, going through a stack of new 45s in a production booth with my program director. When we auditioned this song, we just looked at each other. We instantly agreed that it would be the start of something big.
2023 Y SIGUE SIENDO LA CANCIÓN MÁS SALVAJE DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS!
The first song I think I remember hearing, like ever, I remember my dad sing along to it in a winniebago, it’s like one of my first memories, it was outside my house where my garage is now, I always like paired the memory with it and my dad, like my dad sung it to me I think and I remember it making me happy! I sure miss him….I still have his motorcycle, I always will
Esta canção é o símbolo da liberdade sobre duas rodas!! Hoje aos 54 anos vivi intensamente esta emoção
Ok, boomer
Midlife crisis, huh?
I got to see them in concert. It was fantastic. I was 19 yrs old. I am 61 now.
Awesome group
These sceneries from 1960s amaze me. Knowing that even if I get one of these bikes, take a vacation and go wild and running like them, I will never get to feel and experience the same exotic environment that was there once. Now we have got people setting forests on fire just because of some stupid party and what not. The wilderness is just getting destroyed :(
Actually kinda true..in name of safety..they're actually spoiling the experience.. instead they could have stopped us
Patriots will PREVAIL
this is true, but I've done some trips by motorcycle and I can recommend you to go to West Africa but u have to plan your trip and try not to go to known places (its the worst that u can experience because they are usually changed for tourists)
@@pietroalleva155 thanks for the suggestion mate! I really hope i will visit those places one day
Yes but climate change is part of the reason for forest fires and previous generations caused that unwittingly by having fun driving around for no reason.
I remember seeing this movie in 1969. When it came out. Use to drive 18 wheelers over some of the roads in this video and the movie.
This is the first song I learned to play on the eletric guitar, first time I tried the distortion...
Years later I totally forgot, so long ago...
But right now, I still can feel the awe when I press play.
...and the last time you had a roof over your head. :D
It´s 2020 and this SONG still ROCKS .....R.I.P Peter
2023 and still rocking!
Mythos von Freiheit und Abenteuer. Sowohl der Film als der Song .Immer wieder schöne Erinnerung.
This song kinda helped me and my uncle get along. I used to kinda dislike the fact that he was so rough on me and my family in the past. But one day I helped him fix his Harley, while fixing it, this song was playing in the background and we started jamming out to it. It was a good time.
Your uncle is probably just a hardass. Ain't nothing bad. How old is he?
@@Amoogus pretty old, he was DEFINITELY a hard ass though. Nice guy tho
this song live and it still gonna live for centuries
I wish
that's a fact bro ;) cheer up
Great song for taking long road trips!
Great song in general . . .
perfect song to play when you're having a load road trip across a desert without a care, worry targeted destination.
That's exactly what we are doing.

XoneSpecials ~ Or a GTO from the '60s ... Top down!
Susanne Bender - Constantino it was a supernatural reference, if i really was to choose, i'd say an r34 skyline or a 240z datsun
Das ist das Lied meiner Jugend aber immer noch toll trotz meiner fast 70 Jahre 🍺👍🤫
Then it was the best of times! I know, your age also.
I remember this song being the "adventure theme song' of choice back in the 90's, when 60's nostalgia was at an all-time high.
2020 I salute you! Never is too late to enjoy the magnificent art contained inside the music.
1968: Steppenwolf Born to be Wild
2002: Slayer Born to be Wild.
RIP Goldy McJohn as well
Hope there might be some fans out there of Born to Be Wild to give a lending ear to this version as well.

The few good things from growing older! Still can find them memories.
To me, a non-north american, this song sounds like the most American song out there
By a Canadian rock band...lol!
They were Canadian fam 🤣
It's funny because it's a Canadian band...
@ yeah this song not only is fucking awesome, but the lyrics are incredible, its gives such a good vibe
Pretty sure he means North American. We do share some culture. Not all of it but most of it.
Jam on it! Best tune ever! What a time to be alive!
the type of music that will never die or be forgotten
As long as I live my kid will never forget this masterpiece.

Born To Be Wild
Steppenwolf
lyrics
Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space
I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space
Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die
Born to be wild
Born to be wild
Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space
Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die
Born to be wild
Born to be wild
GREAT DRIVING SONG THEN?
A GREATER SONG NOW TOO DRIVE TO.
I'M RETIRED FROM BORN TOO BE WILD
HAS A DOWNSIDE NO ONE'S TELLS YOU ABOUTTHE SIDE EFFECT OF IT.
F @#$%ING ARTHRITIS !!!!!
💕🎶🎐🎈
This song ROCKS
I saw one of Steppenwolf's last concerts in Detroit a year ago they were so amazing !!!!!!
RIP to both free spirits.
RIP Peter Fonda. I want to ride with you in Heaven one day.
George Vreeland Hill Do you ride here on Earth?
