How can wood be ugly? :D It just is.
I know what youre saying, some pieces of wood are just closer to a finished project than others, or more obvious in its direction for a project. But I guess that too comes down to the beholder.

I would just add an option - to be able to pull out the cable with the lamp completely without digging through the plastic, just in case it needs a replacement for some reason or you maybe want to change the colour of the light if it isn't already changeable. The air bubbles are an amazing idea! Well done!

haha! You have to understand the Russian culture my friend. It is frowned upon if you use safety gear like glasses, hearing protection or guards on the planer. I have Russian parents, uncles and cousins who laugh at even the suggestion of safety. Emphasis on safety is deemed as a weakness of sorts. Take it for what it is but that's my 2 cents on that topic.

    Very nice! Love light effect!
I would prefer bubbles eliminated from epoxy - seal wood surface with brushed on epoxy first and let harden and stirring liquid against wood surface and use torch to eliminate bubbles. Power cord directed through channel in base rather than hole in side might give cleaner look. Could also add fish suspended in middle of epoxy by letting partial pour harden enough to support fish and then adding more epoxy. May need to change mold orientation to pour from top
