    This speaks to me on a molecular level. This man has crafted the finest film of the year and his work also yielded Newman's best score in years and Deakins' crowning achievement

    The Road To Perdition score is so haunting you cannot speak.

      We definitely love him and his work as well! But we're SO interested in hearing what Trent Reznor and Attitus Ross comes up with in "Empire of Light" - a bit surprised that Mendes didn't go with Newman again, but they are an amazing composer duo as well.

    The best interview from this films entire press junket. Some genuinely interesting and original questions being asked that didn't mention the cliche; 'how did you guys manage to pull off the continuous take look?' Or 'was the part where the character gets tackled near the end planned at all?'. So refreshing. You can tell that Sam appreciated the questioning as well. Keep up the good work.

      Thank you SO much for very kind words, TC! :-) I always try to watch and read as many interviews as humanly possible with the people I'm going to interview - both in order to avoid the clichéd questions that everyone asks (why ask something which people can find the answer to a thousand other places?) and to avoid boring the interviewees, who may be big stars and have fairly luxurious lives, but still have to listen to hundreds (if not thousands) of journalists every year, and definitely hundreds of the same questions. And besides, I'm a bit of a nerd, so I gravitate towards more nerdy questions. I will try to keep up the good work! :-)

      Moovy TV Much respect and appreciation to you for approaching you work like this. It’s a wonderful thought to know there are interviewers out there as thoughtful and considerate as you, in the sea of repetitive and superficial questions. Thank you for bringing out these truly fascinating and inspirational conversations with these filmmakers for fellow nerds like me to indulge in :) it’s a real treat.

    Thomas Newman is the natural successor to James Horner.

    • @MoovyTV
      @MoovyTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, personally I'd like to think that Newman is a bit more artistically diverse and brave than Horner was, even though Horner did some great work (especially earlier in his career or when he was pushed out of his comfort zone like by Terrence Malick). Newman is also only two years younger than Horner. I'd say Jerry Goldsmith instead, perhaps :-)
