    "It won't kill you if you're late getting home"
    if you are a child, it actually would

    I remember the 'Sounds Like' advert on radio and i used to turn it off! I didn't turn the volume up for any of these.Just reading the transcript was enough,especially on the second one which actually brought tears to my eyes.

    Low-key surprised these ads didn't make anyone jump or slightly swerve at the sudden loud noises lmao. I feel like I'd be in the zone of driving and forget my radio was on and accidentally hit the brakes as soon as I heard those loud crashes 😂 probably just me tho

    "you know" freaked me out, and haunted me. It's quite hard to listen to these with the volume lowered.

    Congratulations on graduating!
    A few of the ??? from subtitles:
    0:42 - "Hi, it's Simon"
    5:15 - "Oh, where did I put that ticket? I'm sure -"
    5:20 "It's a grate, er, thing" (they often put these near the railway so that cows, sheep, etc. don't go near it)

      Clearer transcription of the last PIF:
      (Man) "They threw this cable over the overhead wires"
      (Girl): "There was blood everywhere. The buzz was actually still eating its way through my skin."
      (Boy): "It's glanced off the train roof, (?) all along the tops and lights"
      (Man) "... Body had been cut into several pieces"
      (Girl): "The train driver saw Terry on the tracks but he couldn't ..."
      (Another girl): "Crushed the lower part of my back"
      (Boy): "Next minute, me mate falls off ..."
      (Man) "The limbs, they were taken away from the body ..."
      (Another man): "Subsequently, he was blown off the metal ..."
      (Boy): "I had a leather coat and it was all stuck to me, and I couldn't get it off or anything, I screamed for help for ages."
      (Girl): "... and I was just really, really scared."
      (Man): "It was very, very difficult to try and explain to them that there was nothing at all that they would recognise as being their son, he was so badly injured."
      VO: There are over 300 deaths a year on Britain's railways, so use your head."

    the sound of the impact of a train hitting a car dos not make any sense. what do they mean by its not just your life on the line?

    • @class_31clag
      @class_31clag 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well 2 things, one passengers in the vehicle or in case of just people a group could be killed. Second as with Ufton nervet the car caused the train to derail killing people on board. "Not your life on the line" could represent "There's other people there" like the passengers on the train. Just a thought but to me and most it makes perfect sense. [Edit] it could also relate to your death effecting others like your kids and family if your the bread winner for them.

      I am always constantly surprised at how many clever ideas in adverts simply wooooosh over the head of educated adults.
      Analogies. Allegories. Simple story-telling devices.

      Adding my voice to this, what on earth did you mean?

    • @Jaxson-q3d
      @Jaxson-q3d หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am pretty sure that they are referring to how there are a lot of railroad crossing incidents in the United States all too many of which result in severe injury or death. All too often those incidents are caused when impatient drivers either attempt to beat a train, go past flashing red lights or around crossing gates, or at crossings with multiple tracks go across soon after one train passes but before the gates go all the way up and the lights stop flashing which then results in them being struck by a another train coming on one of the other tracks.
