Playing pretty much this, as another layer of def you can put blind on shattering palm and it will blind every mob on the first aoe hit and every one with the explosions
It does not blind every mob on the first aoe, only the one mob you hit is initially blinded. The explosions blind in an aoe though, but at that point the pack is dead.
Just a personal tip: If you don’t want to try and build up rage first before using bell, there’s a support gem, forget the name, which gives 40% more damage at the cost of adding a 10 sec cooldown to the skill. Considering how little you use the bell, and that the cooldown starts after you place it, it’s negligible
Definitely recommend "and protect me from harm" ascendancy. I went from 80% evasion to 72 and gained 61% phys dmg reduction which was just night and day difference
Hopefully this remains viable in some form, I can’t imagine GGG intends for bosses to be perma frozen so it will be interesting to see if they change that without killing the build.
@@geagle7154 I mean they have to, if not there's no sense in dodge-rolling boss as i can keep them perma-frozen/stunned/whatever. I like the game speed i see wich was my concern in the early stage but this build gave me hope
If you can find the spirit for it and get high crit, CoC Snipers Mark. You could probably drop combat frenzy. Ideally Cast On Freeze will be changed to Cast On Chill but hey ho. High crit also means you can take the Ascendancy that ignores resistances on crit which means no need for pen on the tree and both your lightning and cold damage will ignore resistance on crit.
Doing something very similar. Try out cast on freeze with Frost Wall. And link that to mana font. Gives you a lot of crystals to dash to and also blocks enemies from attack you and pulls aggro.
do you have a maxroll link for it? I would love to try. Crit always feels too bursty for my tastes, def a skill issue cause in between bursts I can end up dying if something unexpected appears.

This literally kills rares in act 3 with one hit, with some investment into lightning on the tree. I'll respec later, but this works insanely good for now. Im doing a similar build. but with a bit different pathing and with elemental expression. Also using a second staff using the weapon set passive skill points to go full shock, so bosses go like Flurry strike with shock set > bell > ice strike with main weap, the bell keeps using the shock weapon tree, so even when swapping the shock that the bell applies is huge, currently 44 on crit, while still doing the full dmg of ice strike. It’s good to see that class with an OP build. Of all the classes that was the one I was the most skeptical of in terms of damage from the reveal footage. Well doesn’t look like a concern anymore 😊.
Wow this is the build I was making all along and now I’m in act 3 and so good to have a guide path with success. I wanted flicker monk but I noticed with ice strike the dash is just the same style. I love it and want to progress this build to the moon it’s very good and makes monk worth leveling
Great build! Stealing most of it for myself. FYI though, Herald of Ice can't freeze, so it won't work with Ice Bite. You can use Ice Bite as a regular 35% dmg support on Ice Strike (for clearing), or link to another secondary skill for a temporary buff / 7th link. It seems best on Shattering Palm, because you have to use it and freeze every 3 seconds to keep up the buff
Herald of Ice is an Attack it says so in the tags of the skill, herald of ice 'uses' your main hand weapon to cause the damage of the explosions. So Ice Bite does actually work with it.
Honestly - This video alone is why i think you are one of the best and most down to earth content creators there is.. What a sweet build and great to see you feature your editors video like that.. Thanks for sharing!! ps whats with the Tom Selleck worm on your upper lip :)
I'm using a very similar build as frost monk from level 1 up until level 47, but since I'm new to PoE I don't really understand what all the buffs, spells etc. does. So this was actually very helpful in terms of adjusting a few things to make it so much more fun and easy to play. I've managed to clear all the boss's up until viper napuatzi last night (before patch), which I spent roughly 4 hours on + 60-70 deaths. Today I logged in and 1 shottet the boss .. So I can only imagine how much easier it would have been if I knew all this upfront.
That moustache is amazing Ziz! Suits you well. Also Offtopic, i rerolled monk to play this build. Looks amazing! As a changen I want to try out Flicker as a charge spender. because is
on a quick note, frost bite ONLY applies after the enemy is fully frozen, otherwise is a waste of gem on herald of ice, as u can see in the gameplay i doesn't gain the 35% attack bonus buff in anytime during the gameplay, cuz the enemies just implode with the aoe dmg, I think is best used in glacial strike once you get more links.
Personal tip for pre 14: falling thunder for aoe and glacial cascade for bosses. Just spam GC from a distance, its very good. Also more attack speed support gem on basic quarterstaff hit, and AoE on falling thunder.
If you dont want to use the frenzy buff skill because you dont have enough spirit or you dont want to spend points on it, there is another way how you can super easily get power charges in a more manual way. You could just cast Profane Ritual on corpses. That is how I do it. But against bosses it sometimes is stupid to use. Most of the time there are trash mobs in front of the boss door, so you can at least always start the fight with power charges.
Upon looking at this, I see where went wrong with my current build. Although I won't be following through with what's going on here, I will definitely be inspired by it.
I gave the frenzy idea to neversink live btw, i would recommend taking the evasion to phys red node in the ascendancy tree 1st, it is op. For leveling you can do siphon strike + falling thunder and it works like a charm
To the editor who made this build I’m thinking of doing this build but with Acolyte of Chayula ascendancy. What ascendancy points do I take and what changes in terms of skills and passive points etc? PS. This build looks sick! Nice work 🫡
So I almost gave up playing monk. It was so slow start....This video made me stick it out to 14 and boy were you right about ice strike feeling good compared to the others. I will modify the skill tree a bit but this build has amazing bones!
cant believe i was using the build so wrong, very glad to have seen this, only took minor adjustments and im like 2x more powerful now lmfao. i was using the sdtaff's base hit lmao
Great video! I'm running something very similar that I cooked myself (and is sub-optimal, but working). Now I'm at the point where I want to see what tech and skills people have come up with. It would be nice to get a link to the skill setup so we can know exactly what is slotted where.
ive played poe for about a month knowing nothing about how to build and my build was everywhere i played a few reruns of campaign and was figuring out threw others is builds and now to see i play poe2 and someone has the same build I've thought about my self is very very cool to me specially cause its u i feel every good about my self lol
My main is pretty much this build. The main problems are these: - high attack speed means very high mana expenditure. Mana regen won't cut it, Mana per kill is nice but it still means chugging mana potions nonstop on bosses - ice strike is literally Flicker Strike, which basically means you can, and will die from teleporting into attacks occasionally when your evasion fails you Now if only I managed to get to 130 spirit... Right now I have 60 from campaing (not in cruel yet) and 31 from chest piece so I can run heralds of ice and thunder and the frenzy charge generator, which I convert with a keystone to power charges, to feed Charged Staff. Ideally I'd want the Ghost back too so I can regen my energy shield while fighting every like 2 seconds.
I don’t think Ice bite works on herald. I put cold infusion on the herald which still buffs ice strike a bit and have ice bite on ice strike which gives it near permanent uptime while mobbing. On bosses it’s probably a damage loss but I notice I tend to freeze around the same time I get a heavy stun so I have the damage buff during that window anyway. Cool build. Way better than the electric variant I’ve been trying to get working.
dont know if i missed this, but how do you generate the 10 rage for rageforged before putting a bell down, when our only way to generate rage is with the bell itself? i generally lose all my rage before i can put the next bell down
Oh boy, I would love to have a proper leveling/progression path for this. The one Monk guide on Maxroll is focused on endgame, and the ones on Mobalytics feel half-baked.
First, for early leveling, frozen locus is very slept on. Glacial cascade causes it to instantly explode. (Concentrated might be a bait early, because without it, you get easier coverage, proper distancing, and the cascade can multi hit your bell, magnified is also pretty good). Anyway, Frozen locus and a roll gives just the right distancing for GC. You can spam this combo through early areas. And it’s surprisingly fast if you’re trailing and kiting monsters through the zones as you run, leap, and roll past them. Second, Hand of chayula is a good way to apply both frost mark and a curse of your choice early on, early on. (Probably dropping this later to include in other automations). Frost bomb will also be something that can be dropped once you can place exposure on another gem. “Just crit”.
Yeah I used frozen locus to level too. Even 1-2 default attack is enough to break the locus and freeze mobs, which makes it a lot safer and faster to craw through the zones.
Wow this looks incredible! I should’ve trusted my gut and went with Monk first it looks so fun. I started with warrior which has been strong but it’s just got old fast, having to wait for slams to blow up or the extremely long animation of sunder just doesn’t feel good in maps when the mob density is very high.
Once you have charge infusion, do you reckon if you did some shenanigans you could have the keystone which swaps different charge types for gen as part of a weapon set so you occasionally kill mobs and get frenzy + power for crit + skill speed?
oh, this is actually what im playing. Skill Tree is slightly different. Didnt see that Herald Node, fk missing on big damage there. Build is super nice, freeze explosions feels soo good
Had a similar build but really didn't like the normal way to gain power charges, so thanks a ton for frency charge tip make the gameplay feel so much better.
Ah crap, I've been following the passive tree that you had up a couple of days ago which is totally different since it focused on evasion/ES nodes to start. Going to need to reroll but at least I'm only level 7. Feels kind of wonky to start (using the Glacial Cascade ranged thing) but I'm sure gets better with Ice Strike.
I just finished leveling as this build also. Felt super safe relative to friends who I have been playing with and the tools the game gives allows you to solve all but one boss :( had to go ranged bow for the boss that vanishes into her poison but with ranged she is super easy, didn't even need 1 potion.
Since I never saw the Ice Bite buff icon nor in your video, nor in my personal experiments, I conclude that it does not work on Herald of Ice. It should be linked into the main skill (or maybe Charged Staff) if you want that buff to be consistent.
Infernal Cry also works on bell, seems to work to increase the dmg of whole thing with shockwave too, but seems hard to confirm... + was able to ignite with shockwave, no other sources of fire dmg.
tho, when using with Mantra, killing with shockwave of bell does give stacks of flames, so i am inclined to believe extra dmg would apply to shockwaves.
@Milkybk_ is also playing this build and he is using cast on shock path of the ascendency to cast Profane ritual to generate more powercharges and its a lot faster than combat frenzy and basically allows for permanent up time on charged staff!
I'm level 52 and I didn't realize I needed to be 58 to use all of the Skill gems. Plus some require Sup Level 3 which I do not have. It is still an improvement over my Flurry build, but I'm definitely lacking due to the level reqs.
i feel good about myself. i rarely come up with decent builds but i tried ice strike and charged staff and just went nuts with it. combat frenzy spirit and resonance passive are basically free power charges.
New sub here thanks to POE2. I do have a question about the passive skills. I didn't hear anything about what should be the primary attributes used. In the video I noticed various ones used and I am guessing that's to get gear requirements. What should be used in general? Would love to see more monk videos as well :)

So I can only imagine how much easier it would have been if I knew all this upfront.
from the skill tree alone, you can basically run any of the skills from QS. That's really nice. thanks for the build :)
That moustache is amazing Ziz! Suits you well.
Also Offtopic, i rerolled monk to play this build. Looks amazing! As a changen I want to try out Flicker as a charge spender. because is
I was desperately looking for a good guide for Monk's build and here we go. This build is sick and I luv it. Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
So awesome to see the build ive been blasting finally get some attention!
on a quick note, frost bite ONLY applies after the enemy is fully frozen, otherwise is a waste of gem on herald of ice, as u can see in the gameplay i doesn't gain the 35% attack bonus buff in anytime during the gameplay, cuz the enemies just implode with the aoe dmg, I think is best used in glacial strike once you get more links.
Personal tip for pre 14: falling thunder for aoe and glacial cascade for bosses. Just spam GC from a distance, its very good. Also more attack speed support gem on basic quarterstaff hit, and AoE on falling thunder.
If you dont want to use the frenzy buff skill because you dont have enough spirit or you dont want to spend points on it,
there is another way how you can super easily get power charges in a more manual way.
You could just cast Profane Ritual on corpses. That is how I do it. But against bosses it sometimes is stupid to use. Most of the time there are trash mobs in front of the boss door, so you can at least always start the fight with power charges.
Amazing format
Upon looking at this, I see where went wrong with my current build. Although I won't be following through with what's going on here, I will definitely be inspired by it.
Also went for this build, and its kinda insane, fast map clear, fast bosses and enemies are frozen :-) amazing
Your editor is mad smart Ziz, he should make more content
Thank goodness for you sharing this build I was in dire need of some survivability
I gave the frenzy idea to neversink live btw, i would recommend taking the evasion to phys red node in the ascendancy tree 1st, it is op. For leveling you can do siphon strike + falling thunder and it works like a charm
Dang looks even better than I expected..well I'm happy this is the exact build I'm working towards rn :)
Streams for 440+ days straight and still makes time to create build videos. What a gamer
Such a great video! More of this please 🙏
cant believe i was using the build so wrong, very glad to have seen this, only took minor adjustments and im like 2x more powerful now lmfao. i was using the sdtaff's base hit lmao
Keep 'em coming, Ziz :D Your Totem-Bonk is already a winner in my book
Looks so fun to play. Thanks Skryah! Thanks Zizaran!
Awesome Video really enjoyed this and the build just looks so fun to play. ✌🏾
Just what I was looking for. Thanks Ziz
My main is pretty much this build.
The main problems are these:
- high attack speed means very high mana expenditure. Mana regen won't cut it, Mana per kill is nice but it still means chugging mana potions nonstop on bosses
- ice strike is literally Flicker Strike, which basically means you can, and will die from teleporting into attacks occasionally when your evasion fails you
Now if only I managed to get to 130 spirit...
I'm happy to hear this. After playing Cold on my Sorc this is what i wanted to do next anyway 😁
Amazing build good job
Life saver of a build monk feels awesome now
Sick build. Looks fun
dont know if i missed this, but how do you generate the 10 rage for rageforged before putting a bell down, when our only way to generate rage is with the bell itself? i generally lose all my rage before i can put the next bell down
He has a jewel that generates rage (2:26)
@@RinaldoRodrigues-f9x aaaaah tysm must have missed it
been followig this build, and it rocks.
its a cool early guide, i wouldnt mind more videos even if more showcase than build guide
I’m switching my monk to this build. This looks absolutely sick.
if you enjoy getting one shotted by every mob go for it
@ lmao. You play this build and get one shot?
Can you have a curse and a mark at the same time now?
This looks so damn cool, was planning on trying out an Invoker soon
Love it! Love the invoker content
HOLY MONK!!!! badass build
oh wow, this looks sick! I'm building my invoker with Lightning damage and electrecute, but this seems way safer, nice job!
whats crazy is im playing this and didnt even realize anyone else was doing this lol pretty cool!
This looks fun. Did any of the recent patch nerfs affect this build in general?
I'm playing without the cast on crit thing, and it hasnt changed at all. Still perfectly fine. I think they nerfed all trigger gems.
wow! can't believe he managed to make this build with zero deaths! congrats!
I started playing a monk right after this video. Good job
Is there a build planner for this to look at aside from video build ..??? I love this setup very smooth ! And what about adding shock to it ?
Build is cool! Ty a lot
I just finished leveling as this build also. Felt super safe relative to friends who I have been playing with and the tools the game gives allows you to solve all but one boss :( had to go ranged bow for the boss that vanishes into her poison but with ranged she is super easy, didn't even need 1 potion.
this build looks super awesome
I founds many answers in this vid, thank you so much
@Milkybk_ is also playing this build and he is using cast on shock path of the ascendency to cast Profane ritual to generate more powercharges and its a lot faster than combat frenzy and basically allows for permanent up time on charged staff!
I'm level 52 and I didn't realize I needed to be 58 to use all of the Skill gems. Plus some require Sup Level 3 which I do not have. It is still an improvement over my Flurry build, but I'm definitely lacking due to the level reqs.
Holy shit this the coolest build I've seen so far!
i feel good about myself. i rarely come up with decent builds but i tried ice strike and charged staff and just went nuts with it. combat frenzy spirit and resonance passive are basically free power charges.
I am giving this a try. Cost me over 150k to respec and a dozen uncuts, I can't seem to figure out how to get charges.
@@Taiylim Combat Frenzy with Resonance on the tree
Nerfed or still good?
Still good playin it
New sub here thanks to POE2. I do have a question about the passive skills. I didn't hear anything about what should be the primary attributes used. In the video I noticed various ones used and I am guessing that's to get gear requirements. What should be used in general? Would love to see more monk videos as well :)
