What is your favorite cage accessories!? These are some of the most common you will find most chinchilla owners using; however, my favorite accessories are swings! Let me know yours in the comments!
Greetings from Latin America. I have a question. Many of the wooden accessories are made with kiln-dried pine boards which are approximately 2cm thick. How do you do it when you need a thinner board of approximately 1cm to build thinner things like houses or hiding places? Since stores do not sell thinner boards. They only sell approximately 2cm wooden boards. What wood do you recommend for thinner arrangements and finer, more detailed work?
Great video!! As always 😃 I have been meaning to email me however all the usps delays has meant that my younger sister has needed help with her business .. but I will get on that hopefully sooner rather than later. So glad you brought up the wheel braces... they really do help!
Hi!! Great video with lots of information 🥰 My chins chewed their wooden hut so much so now I ordered a new one with the little chinchilla form as a window like you showed in the vid, so cute 😍 One tip from personal experience (I didn’t know this either until it happened) I also had those marble slabs on a higher ledge just like you, and with how heavy they are it never even crossed my mind it would be a danger. Well, 5 months later they PUSHED one of them off together and it fell all the way down. I can’t even imagine the damage if there was a chin sitting there and it fell on it, maybe even death and I was so shocked I immediately put it in their house where it has no possibility of moving/falling anymore. I don’t even know if 1 chin can push one down because they are SO heavy but I still would not risk it I was almost crying imagining one getting crushed. So long story short, for their safety best to put the cooling stones on the lowest level or in a hut where it’s safe and steady!
Oh that's frightening! The chinchiller on this shelf is glued to the shelf it is sitting on and I used longer hanger bolts to support the weight. This is one of my diy shelves.
@@ChinVillain That’s so smart! Maybe I can do the same because they really liked the ledge it was on, they don’t like it that much in the house! Thanks for the tip ☺️
@@ChinVillain It doesn’t come as a suprise you already thought of this, since you take very good care of them 😊 Right after it happened I put a warning in the chinchilla facebook group I’m in and a few people immediately changed it too because they had them higher up too, just trying to keep all the floofs safe 😊
@@kd7553 Yea I definitely would not think about those falling off of shelves! So it is great information to share! However, this was one of my shelves i made for my diy video! So we should be good! Thank you so much for bringing it up! I will pass on the info!
Great content and video, but with a two minor suggestions (just my personal opinion): 1)You spent half the video on shelves...you need to space out your "Top 5" equally. 2) keep the list in your video at the side or bottom so that we know what section you're talking about. This especially helps for people who want the List fast without having to watch the "why"s
Hi! I have a Syrian hamster and I was wandering if chinchillas could have ceramic huts? my hamster has a ceramic strawberry hut and he loves it to pieces! But are they safe for Chinchillas?
Yes, chinchillas can have ceramic huts. They are not as common because they need to be much larger than the ones they make for hamsters but here is a common one that usually is used as a dust bath! www.etsy.com/listing/756262602/fat-chinny-ceramic-house-with
i have a sand bad and a toilette out of plastic but it doesn't look like they are chewing it. Can I still use it? I only have them since two weeks and doesn't have much money left because i already bought so much for them since i have them.
You can use a plastic bin as a dust bath as you should not be leaving it in your cage. Also, they need to be using chinchilla dust instead of sand. For the litter pan, you can use just a glass baking dish but I would not keep plastic in your cage.
@@jasminnagel1900 I am not sure what you mean by a colour for wood. The wood should not be treated. if they do pee on a wooden shelf you can just use sandpaper to remove the damage.
I have a video all about wheels for chinchillas that you can check out here: th-cam.com/video/_MX0QbG-EsM/w-d-xo.html However, you must get a wheel that is at least 14" or larger in diameter.
Get the biggest wheel you can find. Honestly, there's only 1-2 wheels that are made for chinchillas and they are the ~$100 metal/wood ones on Amazon. I bought all types of plastic wheels that were not big enough or were too loud before I broke down and spent $100 for a good one. Best decision I've ever made for pets. You will buy one and won't ever have to buy another one. Trust me, get the best wheel and never buy again..your chin will thank you.
