    Known Error:
    I cover the Harris - Benedict Equation briefly. The women's formula should begin with 655.0955 not 665. The full formula for men without any rounding and from the original paper is:
    Harris - Benedict Equation (Men)
    Resting Energy Expenditure in kcal/day = 66.4730 + 13.7516 x [weight in kg] + 5.0033 x [height in cm] - 6.7550 x [age in yrs]
    Harris - Benedict Equation (Women)
    Resting Energy Expenditure in kcal/day = 655.0955 + 9.5634 x [weight in kg] + 1.8496 x [height in cm] - 4.6756 x [age in yrs]

      @@VivoPhys this demonstrates that your information is credible. Im trying to find lean mass of holocaust survivors and sufferers of anorexia nervosa. What is the extreme lack of muscle mass which allows for survival? On the other hand I managed to find a study demonstrating maximum lean muscle percentage for extreme bodybuilders like strongman. It came to 77% of lean body mass of overall body mass. Would you happen to know the answear?

      Sorry. I do not know.

      @@VivoPhys its allright. No one seems to really know. Cant find any publications. Plenty of military research on body composition from different angles but not even one looking at the extreme of really low muscle mass. There are few things about anorexia but ai have no access to these papers... paid.

    Describe how to interpret information gained from methods used to assess body composition and health risk in relation to weight? can you help me answer this please

      Hi _MiaDoesFitness. There are multiple ways to assess body composition and weight. Looking up normative charts with percentile rank or categorical ranks or examining their scores based on established thresholds for various tests are the most common.

    Hi sir, may i ask what is the difference between 40k counting and BIA method?

    • @VivoPhys
      @VivoPhys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I quickly looked up 40k counting because it is a new technique to me. That technique attempts to count the radioactive potassium in the body to determine lean body mass because potassium collects in lean tissue. BIA measures an electrical signal going into and out of the body. It is primarily conducted by lean tissue because it contains a large amount of electrolytes that can conduct electricity. Fat impedes the electrical current. This allows for estimation of body fat but is not dependent on potassium specifically or radioactivity.
