  • The mission of the 34SC is to be a performance-based center console that can handle nasty weather while still maintaining high speeds, safety and performance. Of course, it also helps that she can look good while doing all of this.

    Another great review by Captain Steve. And very impressed that he managed to get one "fit and finish" in there.

    Would love to see those rear seat backs flip down into a platform if I was actually going to use this boat to fish.
    True to Fountain tradition, top speed & control are the game. Can't imagine what trip 450Rs would do.

    Sounds minor and is minor but I love how the rear seating pulls out to store down. Kudos to whoever thought of that as it's so much easier to deploy and clean as well as opposed to using simple fold up hinge type systems. Definitely something worth noting if your working in this the most competitive class in the US Offshore Bayfisher category.

    That magnetic catch appears to stick out further than necessary. Looks like something I would slam my ankle on.

    You guys do great reviews. It would be nice to see a price "as tested" listed in the specs.

    Why just the port and center engine tied together and not the starboard? What am I missing?

    • @alanploetz7100
      @alanploetz7100 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ability to turn at least one engine in the opposite direction for joystick control.

    • @alanploetz7100
      @alanploetz7100 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SquireJethro not sure if that was very clear. Multiple engines allow pivoting a boat by running one engine(s) in forward and another in reverse - I always thought of it as being like how caterpillar tractors turn. If you can then steer the direction of that thrust it significantly shortens the turning radius with the engine on the inside pulling while the one(s) on the outside of the arc is pushing.

    • @patfife911
      @patfife911 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alanploetz7100 Wonder if the tie bar limits some of the joystick docking capabilities. I have seen in other videos where the center engine moves independently with the port and/or starboard engine under joystick.

    • @alanploetz7100
      @alanploetz7100 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patfife911 yes, it would. Joystick (digital) steering controls have separate steering rams or electric steering motors so that each engine turns independent of the other. Otherwise a tie bar set up would only be controlling forward or reverse thrust which may be a function of older systems, I'm not sure.

      Fountain changed the game back in the 90s when they started to show up to tournaments with large twin engine center consoles.

    • @Bubbles99718
      @Bubbles99718 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@smannee Really? They musta kept that a nice secret in a tight little fishing world. No word of mouth got out. I know they transformed their platform to center consoles then but it all sprang from racing and speed. Fishing was an offshoot. All marketing and engineering is and has been speed.
      Simply an outta left field comment to me. Been in the boating world my whole life and Fountain and fishing are not peanut butter and chocolate

    • @smannee
      @smannee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bubbles99718 i agree that they didn’t become a household name for their center console fishing platforms, i never said that, the comment doesn’t imply that. I am also aware that fountain racing team boats lead to the hulls they use for their luxury off-shore hulls and their fishing boats as well. The fact is that when they started bringing those 30ft plus centre consoles to fishing tournaments when every one else was using boats 24 ft or less they changed they game. They other manufacturers started to build bigger, faster hulls with at least twin engines. They changed the game.
