AAAAAAAND this is why you don't marry anyone like this. Notice how they dated first and got married but he already knew how she was as a person. Most and I do mean most, of the time people get married for the wrong reasons, they date for the wrong reasons but for the right conclusion. You want a husband or wife that is supportive and will cherish you and so on but people display opposing behaviour in the dating phase and due to emotional connection through feelings and even lust and sex people ignore the red flags and get married anyway. Men and women do this and I have experience first-hand and or talking to people who have done this.
The most tragic part is that instead of learning this, they get stuck in a cycle of doing this repeatedly with different people. Nobody should compromise what they NEED for what they desire because our desires are not always correct. We need a moral, good, understanding etc partner, but we may desire the one in front of us who is not that but we would have never got that attached if we had specific and defined dating standards and probed to make sure they fit those, to begin with, and when they didn't, bailout.
My Ex told me to leave the job I was at because it's going nowhere, here I am 4 years later making $25 vs when I was making $11 and getting a raise pretty much every year and a half, she also said, don't start a business as I didn't have enough money, here I am selling things online making money 5 years later on top of that same job and now I'm engaged to a much better woman that supports me. Men and women need to focus on the person they want to dates moral character.

@@suzygirl1843 we're talking about ex-married people here. You don't marry a property, a financial revenue, a good future or whatever you have in mind, since you can be successful and rich right now, but unwillingly lose everything in a second instantly. You marry a human being. Humans have no deadlines at all, except death. And you marry them because you love them *the way they are.* If you're not satisfied with a person, don't marry them in the first place.
Your comment sounds like a justification for Susan's obviously horrible life choices. People are not toys to play with their lives like that, marriage is all about commitment.
Edward had his own faults, and one of them is being too sensitive to people who probably don't deserve that. But he's not guilty in his marriage with Susan, she was the one who didn't commit, and the movie clearly hints at that - she was the one who destroyed her own life and scarred another.

@mahakamado1234 ah yes but if it was the woman getting revenge on the man then he "had it coming" or "deserved" it, of course this depends on your perspective but the way me and likely most people see it it was the woman being in the wrong this time, the man has been established as weak willed and emotional, her mother warned her to marry him, and she dropped him just like her mother warned her she would and ended up acting like her mother towards him, strict and disillusioning him where he was soft and encouraging her, did you actually watch the recap?
And the way he finds out about her aborting his child she refused to tell him about? By watching her be with another man right after the fact, she should have told him that she planned to abort it, as the father he had a right to know and voice his opinion. This might very well have been a deeply traumatising event for a soft and already sad person like him, and the way he "visualized" it is by writing his book and sending it to her to make her understand how he felt about everything that happened, helpless and weak because she kept the child secret from him and aborts it and goes to be with another man
Is it petty? Yes. Is it understandable? 100%. Is the man the bad one here? No. Is the woman in the wrong here? Yes.
I hate myself for writing this whole paragraph it makes me look stupid for getting worked up over this, but how you felt like making the man look so bad even tho all he did was write a petty story vs the pain she made him go through just reeks of you being unreasonably overprotective of women

Had he tried to fight the junkies, they probably would have killed him first and did what they did to her family anyway. So I believe he was trying to evade any bad situation, by speaking in a way that did not provoke them as he knew he was outnumbered.

Sorry but I am not connecting these two stories. A man being outnumbered by a gang of sociopaths who kidnapp his wife and child is hell in itself. To rape and murder your entire family is NOT a weak man. He was a victim of sociopaths.
A man married to a selfish woman..... he has a choice to leave. She "murdered" his child? She had an abortion. There is a BIG difference between raping and killing your adult child versus an abortion.
Look, people are NOT your property. If someone decides that they don't want to be married to you, they have EVERY right to leave. If a woman doesn't want to give birth and have a child, she has a right to decide over her own body. This guy needs to take ownership over his shitty decisions in choosing a horrible partner. I agree that her cheating SUCKS. She should have been honest with him and shared with her husband that she wasn't happy anymore. She made a big mistake, which shows us her lack of character.
He needs to move on and pick better partners. But to compare his grief to someone whose family was raped and murdered is ridiculous.

And you say that you would like to give all people the opportunity for life as you’ve had if it doesn’t endanger the mother, well I have some news for you, vast majority of abortions are due to the parents simply not wanting the responsibility of having children. So with that in mind we should just kill babies just because they may be an inconvenience? You people always try to bring outliers into these discussions like “what if she was raped” or “what if she dies from giving birth” as if those aren’t rare occurrence

The movie was amazing, your favorite character was the one who never showed up. That's art.

Okay, this was awesome. Your roasts just made this one of my favorite recap channels, right up there with the Release Hormones guy. :D

The explanation of the way the book correlates to the movie was great. 👍🏻

Very good recap. I felt as immersed into the plot as I believe i would have been had I watched the full length film entirely. Honestly, I still may. Such an interesting story with thought provoking layers and really good actors. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together.

I watch this movie more than once because it didn't understand it but now that I watch it with details it makes a lot of sense

There's really nothing like dramatic men thinking that a woman deciding not to go through with a relationship or parenthood with them is akin to rape and murder.

    • @RavenPendragon14

@Live from the boot Still not rape or murder. She is actually free to make those choices for herself and her life if she wants. She didn't make him do anything with his life. Forcing your body into someone else's without consent or taking THEIR life without their permission is not the same thing at all

I so much hate thrillers especially like this... Who tf have so sick minds to actually make a film about this... Disgusting.

The theme of losing something you care about is similar but yeah the actual stakes are drastically different.

I don't know, I like the framing device. It reminds me of other movies like Never-ending story and the princess bride who are about a meta narrative relating back to us and the importance of stories. It's kind of beautiful honestly.
