Really like the way the last setup works. No annoying pops and bangs. Those get annoying after a while. Sounds clean and deep. And I don't even own any BMW 🤣

@@A29Cepeda most of the rattling will only happen on cold starts. It seems to be a common occurrence even with other men pipes. It's really not that bad. You'll definitely enjoy the sound when you change the mid pipe. The stock midsection of the car has two resonators which keeps the car very quiet
You shouldn't have any drone. I would take it one step at a time to see how you like things. So you're not wasting any money that you don't need to spend. I personally like the equal length. But you have to decide yourself I can't make that decision

I honestly think the awe setup is a great setup if you didn't want to go the unique route I went. There was no drone, with that setup. I will be getting a valve controller to help open the entire setup even more. You'll have one of the deepest tones with AWE since it's a 3" pipe

I would recommend mid pipes. Specifically, imo ActiveAuto works. In general, as long as you do not mess with the primary catalytic converters modifying your exhaust will not affect warranty (at least in America). I have an equal length activeauto work’s mid pipe equipped to my G87. It has drastically improved the engine’s exhaust note and volume. The mid pipe is connected to the stock catalytic converters and the stock muffler. So the stock valves are still used, which means the exhaust will get subtle in efficient mode. The mid pipe is the most cost effective exhaust modification available😃👍🏻
I had the rattle on cold start on mine too after switching to ApexBuilt HFC DPs and ER 3' midpipe. Instead of buying a new axle-back, I just had my exhaust tech weld the valves fully open and tuck everything under the heat shield. Its a little too aggressive, so Im actually going to put the OEM midpipe back on. Or find a resonated midpipe. The cold start rattle was extremely loud and the level of vibration it caused could not have been healthy for the car. It was beyond annoying and aggravating. I wish you could use Bimmerlink or bimmercode to code out cold start, but until Im formally tuned, I resolved the manner. The issue with S58 is if you go to aggressive with the exhuast you get some extremely annoying drone at low rpms(highway rpms). Evolution Racewerks dual 3' midpipe with their 3' crosspipe, ApexBuilt HFC DPs with OEM Axleback with valves fully open is extremely loud. I initially wanted to free up flow to maximize performance, but a little resonation I think is needed on the exhaust when you upgrade the DPs. At least thats my personal opinion. Perhaps aftermarket axle-backs wont have the cold start rattle, but as far as performance gains I didnt see a cost/benefit justification. So Ill switch back to OEM midpipe, until I find a resonated midpipe, or perhaps consider AA midpipe with the high flow secondaries. Maybe thats enough to reduce the drone a bit. Finding that perfect balance between, performance, sound, and driveability is a bit challenging with the S58.

Love all of the new gen M cars even though I currently own AMGs. My only issue with tge M3s/M4s is that they always sound like a buzzy six banger. It just doesnt matter what exhaust is installed, it will never sound like a V8. The M5s/M8s sound tremendous regardless of exhaust. Every car enthusiast knows whats coming around the corner from the sound, and 6 bangers just dont have it.
What would you recommend for someone who wants to keep the warranty (bought extended warranty) and hates loud pops and bangs and raspiness of a lot of G80s I hear but also wants better than stock sound? I just want a little better than stock sound and don't want to be annoying to anyone.
Most dealerships will look past exhaust modifications. I say most lightly since there's always that one or two that would. I would start off by getting the midpipe swapped. If you hate the rasp, I would high reccomend the equal length midpipe from Active Autowerke. It can be paired up to your stock axleback and stock downpipes.

It's definitely a nice addition to any S58 platform. I definitely think when it comes to modding. Take your time and enjoy the process. No need to go full send right away.
love my f82 but came to the conclusion that these new bmw engines just dont sound good anymore lol.. the active autowerk setup in the black one at the end was dope tho

One of the biggest difference that you were here with an exhaust upgrade would be the mid pipe whether it's the single mid pipe or the equal length.

Cold start delete via bootmod3 was a game changer for my F82

The F8x (F80,F82,F83) platform sounded even worse. In my opinion, the equal length midpipe transforms the tone to a respectable tone.
