Back in 2014, I went to Warped Tour in Toronto and got to see and meet Less Than Jake. Most of the band was at their tent and had about a 5 minute conversation with them. I asked them about the Digimon movie and all their faces lit up and we all had a nerdy moment together about the movie. They felt bad that they didn't have anything to give me so they have me a little American flag. Best reaction that I never expected. Great video as always!
All my best friends are metal heads is maybe my second favorite from that soundtrack of pure bangers. First is the impression that I get but genuinely not a bad song on that list, not even a b tier song
"Your total comes to one-million, one-hundred--HUH? Yeah, that's what it says. That must be really good chocolate! Paper or plastic?" has been one of my favorite lines, from any movie, for almost two decades.
I remember watching this movie in theaters (as an 8yo) and jamming out to the music because it was what I was already listening to. Look over and see my mom also getting into the music. If nothing else, that made this movie awesome. She passed away in 2003, but ska will always remind me of her.
I got to meet Less Than Jake at a meet-and-greet before a concert a few years ago (at a pot shop down the street from my house funny enough) and told them the first time I heard them was the Digimon movie, and I remember one of the band members (I think it was Chris or Vinnie, it's been a while) said they remember the movie, and that a lot of their fans born in the 90's got tell them that. They seemed pretty stoked to hear another fan get added to the list of people that Digimon introduced to Ska. I even have a poster signed from the entire band from that night.
I can't stress enough how good this soundtrack is. Regularly listen to it to this day. The movie, in general, is one of the strongest pieces of nostalgia for me. Really cool he replied.
Want more Digimon Movie discussion? I just put out a video talking the Angela Anaconda short! th-cam.com/video/Qyim16E2zBY/w-d-xo.html Hope you enjoyed! I actually shared this story in video from back in 2020 but my voiceover and video editing was so bad that I was super embarrassed. Loved the story though so “remaking” the video with my 2023 voiceover and editing ability (plus the epilogue) was really fun!
I couldn’t even begin to tell you how much this movie was for me as a child 😂 The soundtrack solidified my taste in music for years to come and I still never go a summer without blasting One Week on the open roads driving down the highway. I know the movie is has its flaws, but good lord this still brings back fond memories for me
got some of those tracks on my Iphone and i listen to then on a few car rides and walks myself, props to my man Mr. Page for including such an iconic song in the Digimon dub movie! (though i'd prefer to see the original 3 Japanese movies back-to-back-to-back in a triple feature)
THE MOST PLAYED CD in my childhood collection. Literally straight bangers, all of them. Wore my Sony Walkman out playing it thousands of times. And the fact that the 5 or 6 bonus songs tacked onto the end were only accessible if you hit the next track button twice? That is one crazy Easter egg!
This soundtrack was a huge part of my childhood. I heard Mighty Mighty Bosstones in the grocery store recently and hummed along like a crazy person while purchasing baby food.
I’ve had similar experiences interviewing folks who worked on the…other monster video game franchise. They’ve had some interesting interactions with their kids regarding it as well. Last year I interviewed James “D Train” Williams (singing voice on the PokeRap), and his kids didn’t care much about his other music, but having dad on the PokeRap was pretty cool for them. Similar story with Eliot Sloan from Blessid Union of Souls, and I suspect Cindy Wilson of the B-52’s would also have such a story.
Yo! You did a fantastic job with this. Been thinking about doing a similar video but daamn, you killed it. Love the Digimon Movie and the soundtrack is great. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
Haha thanks! It was a short online interaction but I love what Steven said. It would be great if someone was able to conduct a real interview with him and / or other musicians to get more info out of them.
I also only discovered BNL through Digimon. Everyone knew All Star from Shrek and I may have heard it then too, but I only really became a fan of the song through the soundtrack. Digimon was also my true introduction to Japanese music and I was obsessed with all their original songs too. Thus on my Jmusic blog, I have a few Digimon-centered articles as the show has changed my life in so many ways, even an article visiting real life locations in Odaiba 😄 I haven't thought about messaging English dub artists for interviews, but since Japanese bands have ignored my emails, it may be something to look into 😄 Chromatic Dreamers is the blog if anyone is curious ❤ And thanks for making this video!
I knew most of the music before the movie but loved bare naked ladies. Also can’t forget the mighty mighty bostones part. I remember bowling for soup did a cover of “i ran” for knights of the zodiac/saint seiya
I remember when i first saw this movie, I was waking up on some break or a weekend I just didn't have school. My dad just installed satellite dish and I just woke up to get breakfast as my mom tells me "Hey you wanna watch the digimon movie" like This movie, the art, the animation, every time I watch this I just feel like I'm 7 or something.
I like how simple and concise this video is. It's literally just "I asked Steven Page, former member of Barenaked Ladies, about the Digimon Movie and he replied." Just straight to the point.
This movie is so important to me - I listen to the music and will just watch the movie for my own nostalgic joy all the time - your video awakens those beautiful feelings in me, so thank you ❤
I dont know which came first. The Digimon movie or when BNL performed Falling for the First Time on Kids WB, but it was around then when i discovered them
"BUT YOUR DRIVING" but i found one week through digimon, and it is still one of my favorite songs, also all my best friends are metalheads, and kids in america, AND THE IMPRESSION THAT I GET
I heard The Impression That I Get on the work truck's radio "Dam I loved this song, where do I know it from?" Cue childhood memories flashing in my mind
This song and Lets kick it up are some of my go toos when i need a pick me up! I put on the songs and am instantly transported back to first time i saw Omnimon kicking ass everytime! Transcendent sword!
Thank uou for doing this 😊 I'm still listening to it from time to time and the whole movie had a impact on me back then... still love it a lot (1st part only sry! 😅). All the best to you
Doesn't the song by Barenaked Ladies (One week) sound like the ending theme for season 1 (Hey Digimon.) I can't be the only one who thinks this right? When I was watching the movie and I first heard the song I legit thought it was a full version of Hey Digimon.
As a kid I would go to the movie rental place and rent that movie every time it was there for a dollar (I now own that same copy from when they closed) and I'd like to say that movie and soundtrack shaped my childhood. Thanks for this! I might watch it later
Not only was the movie my introduction to those songs and bands, but it was the first Digimon thing I had watched. I had handmedown toys and cards from my older brothers, but I didn't watch Adventure until much later *totally legally.* I watched Digimon: The Movie over and over and over and over again as a kid.
Man, I thought I was going crazy thinking I had completely made up seeing this video considering it was only posted 5 days ago until i read the description. Phew....I'm not as crazy as I thought, just the normal amount.
There’s this scene in HIMYM where they sing the song, and I was thinking so heavily to recall where I heard it from and then I realized it was from the Digimon movie
Jason Gochin and Jasan Radford though. Their contributions hit the nostalgia bone for me. I've heard Barenaked Ladies and Less than Jake so many places outside of the film.
I loved 1 week so much because of Digimon the movie I printed out the lyrics and learned the words and recited it to my family to much of their chagrin.
Mr. It's Been himself. Forever ago when I was a kid I was at King's Island? I think. Some theme park. We were eating in one of the restaurants and the Barenaked Ladies were performing there a capella, I don't think they even had microphones. I remember it only because they said the name and it was so strange that they'd be named that I never forgot it. Later when I heard One Week I of course recognized the name as those guys.
I can't believe this video is how I discovered The Barenaked Ladies did the theme song for The Big Bang Theory. I used to love both the band and the show. I'm pissed I never realized this.
Yeah! Maybe because the other guy, Ed, takes lead vocals on the track. You can hear Steven doing the harmonies in the final chorus but it's primarily an Ed song!
I was brought back because One Werk and Impression that I Get played back to back while in the work truck. Took me a minute with one of the hosts to realize why why these two songs seemed to go well together, I got it right before he did "Holy shit that's from the Digimon movie, That's one of those great shows that still exist but I haven't seen in 20 years.......dam I'm getting old 😂"
It was a awesome movie too it was my childhood that was my first ever anime tbh digimon was everything to me and still is and this movie is just top Notch the best.
I do think I was among one of those original 500 subscribers but, yeah, I never got to watch the old version XD Had been away from YT and man, you've come a long way, nice! Thanks for sharing this with us ^^
Yep! It's mostly the other guy singing lead vocals on the Big Bang Theory song, that's why you maybe didn't recognize them. There was Steven Page ("It's Been,") and Ed Robertson who were the two main vocalists until Steven left in 2009
hey! if I'm remembering right you could try digging through the old YTV archives (the Candian tv net work) i vaguely remember bare naked lady's doing quite a bit of press for the Digimon movie! however that might be easier said then done lol... or hek might be even remembering wrong, anyway that's my input! fun video! have a great day Diji
I asked Chris DeMakes of Less Than Jake about this on a fan Q&A, he said something to the effect of "Did Less than Jake help Digimon's popularity?" He was snarky, but definitely aware of what that movie did for his band.
Lol, can't imagine Steven Page wouldn't be down to watch Digimon. There's only that line in One Week about Sailor Moon having hot waifus. "Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon 'Cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes That make me think the wrong thing" That line hits me every time it plays through xD. I love it. That movie was filled with so many classics but One Week was definitely one of my favorites.

I wouldn’t even know what 2000’s ska is without Digimon: the movie ❤
Factual
Dude the bosstones
@@Pirategod23 Fr bro the bosstones are so goated
oh, you would. It was everywhere, hidden in everything. Theme songs, filler music, commercials, etc.
This movie is why I like Ska so much as an adult
"But you're driving" caught me off guard when I watched the movie and it is still one of my favourite moments about the movie
"Your total comes to one-million, one-hundred--HUH? Yeah, that's what it says. That must be really good chocolate! Paper or plastic?" has been one of my favorite lines, from any movie, for almost two decades.
@Default Sea Turtle yeah same here. She did not question it at all lol
Mines the Chocolate Bar costing like a Billion yen and the guy at the store is just in shocked disbelief
If you know about the work culture, it becomes an unintentional dark joke.
My older sister and I always quote random lines like this to this day.
That crunchy "It's been" will never cease to bring a smile to my face. Thank you digimon for bringing this joy into my life.
To this day, Kids in America is one of my favourite songs of all time, all thanks to this movie, clueless, and Jimmy Neutron
Love that track and every iteration of it!
I known that song for years and i didn't know the name of it.
One week is a classic! So are the song used in the dud. “Run Around” and “Here We Go” were good action songs!
Agreed this digimon movie is my childhood!
What an impact that digimon series did in western countries, especially to kids like us, who lived in 2000s. Man, good times back then.
I think the Pokemon movie was all pop, right? It was just what they did back then. Heck Dragonball Z got metal bands.
Digimon and Ska go together so well!
I remember watching this movie in theaters (as an 8yo) and jamming out to the music because it was what I was already listening to. Look over and see my mom also getting into the music. If nothing else, that made this movie awesome. She passed away in 2003, but ska will always remind me of her.

They seemed pretty stoked to hear another fan get added to the list of people that Digimon introduced to Ska. I even have a poster signed from the entire band from that night.
That's awesome! Yeah I feel like a lot of younger people (late 20s and younger) only know ska music IF they watched the digimon movie haha
I can't stress enough how good this soundtrack is. Regularly listen to it to this day. The movie, in general, is one of the strongest pieces of nostalgia for me. Really cool he replied.

Steven Page and the BNL went on tour with Hootie and the Blowfish in 2019. It was the best concert I've ever been to
He needs to see this video. He might even give you an actual interview :D
I LOVE this film!
Digimon The Movie & Yugioh The Movie (Pyramid of Light) soundtracks had NO BUSINESS going THAT HARD!
🎶 🔥
Early YGO music in general went so hard. I'm a pretty strong believer that the only reason people put up with the 4kids dub was the music.
@Atmatan
_Nice! You kno wassup! 💯_
BNL is my favorite band to this day. Whole discog up til Steve leaving. This is how I found them. Thank you for this video.
I still listen to this soundtrack today!
I couldn’t even begin to tell you how much this movie was for me as a child 😂 The soundtrack solidified my taste in music for years to come and I still never go a summer without blasting One Week on the open roads driving down the highway. Love this video. I would think the DigiKnow channel would be big enough at this point to get full interviews…. Maybe one day.
Hopefully! Steven Page! Chat Digimon with meeeee 😅
One of my favorite bands ever, and IMO the best use of this song in any media.
_"My dad can't be in things I like."_
Can relate. My dad never really supported my interests.
So Barenaked Ladies love Digimon that’s so cool
I've been waiting for years for the dub to drop for Digimon 2020 so I can re edit the series with music just like this into a feature length film
This soundtrack was a huge part of my childhood. I heard Mighty Mighty Bosstones in the grocery store recently and hummed along like a crazy person while purchasing baby food.
Neat! I figured he was too busy getting in tune with Sailor Moon.
I’ve had similar experiences interviewing folks who worked on the…other monster video game franchise. They’ve had some interesting interactions with their kids regarding it as well. I STILL listen to the CD in my car!!

This is one of the most wholesome things I have watched on TH-cam in a while. thanks!
I enjoyed this movie in theaters in the early 2000's when I was a kid
I didn’t know I needed this video until I found it and it adds to my love for this movie. Thank you.
I have no idea how this popped up on my suggested videos but I have been wondering the same thing for years. Glad to finally find out!
The Digimon Movie the gateway to great music 😅
4:00 I feel like Steven Page would love Sailor Moon season 5 in particular
This is a very underrated video and i appreciate you answering the question i didnt realise needed to be answered!
I knew most of the music before the movie but loved bare naked ladies. Also can’t forget the mighty mighty bostones part. I remember bowling for soup did a cover of “i ran” for knights of the zodiac/saint seiya
I still, to this day, cannot hear One Week without thinking of Digimon lol

Influential movie and soundtrack. Doing the lord's work here.
A question I never had but needed to know to complete my life has been answered

I did not know they did the Big Bang theory theme.

LOL! So cool that he responded back to you.
thank you for this. - From a Digimon the Movie 2000 fan.
I think he did it for his kids, because his kids love digimon. 🙂
"BUT YOUR DRIVING"

sorry about that!
There’s this scene in HIMYM where they sing the song, and I was thinking so heavily to recall where I heard it from and then I realized it was from the Digimon movie
The soundtracks for this movie are all awesome and bring good memories that and including the entire movie
This was my very first CD! It definitely shaped my music tastes
This fucking soundtrack was stupid amazing
we owned the VHS and my brother and I would watch it on repeat.
The digimon soundtrack is one of few I own, all those songs are special!
This movie helped make One Week my all time favorite song
Mr. It's Been himself. Forever ago when I was a kid I was at King's Island? I think. Some theme park. Yeah! Maybe because the other guy, Ed, takes lead vocals on the track. You can hear Steven doing the harmonies in the final chorus but it's primarily an Ed song!
Stephen page also voiced a character in Red vs Blue, so it’s no surprise to me that he’s a huge nerd
The thing with his son tells us for sure he wasn't just being nice when he said he remembered the movie, if he watched it with his kid.
Supposedly, the movie is getting a blu ray re-release but as far as I know, now new news has actually been released about it.
I was brought back because One Werk and Impression that I Get played back to back while in the work truck. I love this movie. I have it on VHS, I don't even have a VHS player anymore 😂
But I can look at it in my closet and have my own piece of my childhood.
Same! I have the VHS and no way to watch it
It was a awesome movie too it was my childhood that was my first ever anime tbh digimon was everything to me and still is and this movie is just top Notch the best.
I don't what to say. This movie is the best Digimon thing in the world.
I do think I was among one of those original 500 subscribers but, yeah, I never got to watch the old version XD Had been away from YT and man, you've come a long way, nice! Thanks for sharing this with us ^^
This is peak internet. Well done.

sorry about the brain pain! I love the video, hate the editing & VoiceOver in the original lol
@@thedigiknow no no, you're all good! I loved it the first time AND the second!

This is a bit of a late response, but I heard the news! Congrats on getting Billiam's seal of approval, DigiKnow!
Have you seen the Digirap cover by Alan Abulencia yet?
I unironically love and still listen to most of the western digimon music.
I asked Chris DeMakes of Less Than Jake about this on a fan Q&A, he said something to the effect of "Did Less than Jake help Digimon's popularity?" He was snarky, but definitely aware of what that movie did for his band.
Chris always seems snarky.
The animation blew my mind
Lol, can't imagine Steven Page wouldn't be down to watch Digimon. There's only that line in One Week about Sailor Moon having hot waifus.
"Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon
'Cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes
That make me think the wrong thing"
That line hits me every time it plays through xD. I love it. That movie was filled with so many classics but One Week was definitely one of my favorites.
As a huge BNL fan, this was pretty sweet!
This movie is when I became a BNL fan!
That sound track was one of my first CDs. It was Pokemon 2BA Master, Godzilla Soundtrack, and digimon.
You did gods work. I’ve blamed digimon the movie for my taste in music for years
It's been one week since you emailed me, asked if I knew what a monster was digitally
