The genuine shock and joy of having real fuctional pockets was so fun to watch 😂
Lol
@@AnthonysCustoms Neca Batman Returns Penguin also have functional cloth pockets btw
I had the same joy 😂
I don’t like soft goods on 6” figures but boy howdy, I LOVE functional pockets!
I’m for soft goods as long as there was good thought put into it. It needs to hit 3 criteria for me: looks good, doesn’t impede articulation, and decent quality.
It really needs to fit the scale. Mezco figures really suffer from bad proportioning due tk the clothing being too thick, although their Dr Strange looks really good.
The tank top and muscle showing underneath is really impressive
Y'know what other Sylvester Stallone property I think would work well in this format from Hiya? Rocky. like, they mostly don't have clothes in that, but soft goods boxing shorts, I think it'd be cool to see like Rocky Balboa, Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang, and Ivan Drago at least in this format, can give them ring entrance robes too.
Agreed. We haven’t had a good 6 inch Rocky line since around 2012 with the NECA figures. Boxing shorts would work for this scale because they’re baggy anyway.
Yeah, I'm a soft goods hater but boxing trunks are a perfect application. The way they are tailored makes the scale forgiving, and the typical material is hard to replicate in plastic to begin with. Based on this review I imagine they could do a really good job with it.
I need a 1/12 scale Rambo figure to complete my collection of 80s classics. I think Hiya has done a great job with this figure; the accessories are plentiful and the likeness to Stallone is spot on. My issue is with the body; I feel the rubber covering the torso might end up stretching. I would have preferred a traditional plastic body with butterfly joints. Great review, as always.
It's soft pvc on the torso. It's not too likely to be a problem
For me, the ball jointed waist which looks like it can go all the way forward makes up for the lack of torso articulation.
I highly recommend Rambo the movie as well. It still holds up to this day.
Just wait for a remake made "for modern audience" lol
@@AnthonysCustoms😂Bro you know that i mean they already trying to redo “The Princess Bride” ugh 😑
Hiya toys have released a Naruti line too btw.
I donot usually like soft goods too much but wheh it comes to capes I only ever prefer cloth capes.
I personally like Soft goods for things like capes, cloaks, small jackets etc.
Things like that where you can have the accuracy of the original design without the threat of the figure being weighed down by a hunk of solid PVC or not being able to articulate because the sculpt hinders it.
That’s why I love the concept of the Buzzmod demon slayer figures, while they aren’t executed perfectly the fact we can take the haoris off is awesome to me. Especially since the Figma and eventual SHF figures always look awkward sculptwise.
The Moment HIYA TOYS creates DUTCH from Predator.
I'm fine with the way they're typically used in marvel legends or the starwars lines, the occasional cloth jacket or trench coat, essentially an accessory clothing piece. In terms of capes I think they're a reasonable tradeoff for less restricted posing(and high end cloth+wire is the ideal). However at that ~$100 mezco price point I don't think the quality justifies the price, most of them can't shake that 70s action doll look.
Rambo was part of my childhood, so seeing such a good figure of him makes me very happy.
I do like soft goods but mainly prefer plastic since soft can be very fragile. I agree not a big fan of the mid section but that is still a very impressive figure and I'm not even a big Rambo/Stallone fan either
I like wired soft goods for the good of articulation like coats, capes, skirts, etc. I just don't like that fake leather that eventually flakes off.
I hope the hiya 1/12 Robocop still comes out
Got mine last week and I was very impressed with this figure. I mean where else are you going to get a 6-inch action Rambo action figure that at least looks somewhat like him. As for the soft goods, while not the biggest fan I am okay with it mainly because I am a huge Rambo fan and just overlook it, but I do agree with you that if they are going to do soft goods, do them right like you said about the functional pockets. The face sculpt is decent and look a hell of a lot better than the older toys.
I like soft goods if it's done right and doesn't hinder too much articulation.
Anthony i would definitely want to see you review the Rambo First blood 2 and 3 for sure 👍🏼
I will
I preordered one of these. The Rambo in all black mostly. Wouldnt mind seeing a review so I can know if I would cancel. Lol.
I dont like soft goods normally.
Not into soft goods unless they are wired clothed capes. But this looks like a really good figure. I might consider it. Good value considering all it comes with.
Starting video now. Prediction: The M-60 has slight to moderate QC issues like mine did and Kato's did and everything else is fine.
Yep. Worst so far. Kato's was bent, mine is bent slightly less and has some mismolding under the handle.
I like Soft Goods. I get if people don't like the Pajama look they can provide but they can be executed very well. And I have a couple of 1/12 figures that have working pockets but yea they're no very common.
I was tempted to buy this figure but I needed to see a review first, thank you for showing it off! Not very impressed with the soft goods, I think Hiya does a great job with sculpts and easily could have sculpted a figure with pants and tank top.
I was also against softgoods, but I have noticed lately that the tailoring has gotten to a very good point. This one with Rambo is decent, but I have seen some that are even better. My slight reservation is the potential staining the clothes might cause, but I think it should be ok even with that concern.
This company is quite amazing. They made good Godillza hard plastic figure taking on Neca. And now small scale soft cloth figure taking on Mexco. Both wins, good for toy collector.
I am down for soft goods like 4 flat tyres. Absolutely love that stuff. But I also like full plastic pieces. But I do prefer them with soft goods.
He also looks like he lacks a some lat size from the front.
Solid review as always sir.
Great review and love the figure. I have the other 2 on the way, love what Hiya are doing with these 1/12 scale figs
thanks. ill be reviewing those as well
Hey Anthony the stand has sections on it you can take apart and make it smaller.
Yeah but it's still ridiculously large when assembled. It's strange
I'm a bit hit-or-miss with 1/12 scale soft goods. Love the clothes on the Mezco One:12 Crow and a few others, kinda "meh" about it otherwise. Like you said: if done well and a figure I want, play ball. Very solid review, thanks! Gonna go give their Major from Ghost in the Shell a look now! 😎👍
Good review man. It was nice to see you enjoy a figure by surprise
Great review as always Anthony 🤘🏻
Looks really nice. Haven't been interested in any of their 1/12 line, but they look decent.
Soft goods/plastic - meh. Pros and cons to both, so whatever works best for the character
Well, for people who are afraid that the soft goods will hinder the articulation, I will say that they have never touched any Rumble Society figures of Mezco, which have really good body bucks. When it comes to the articulation, it's more about the original design (and how it is executed of course) than being plastic or soft goods.
Could go either way between soft goods or plastic. Depends on how well they implement it.
Figma has done a pretty good job before with some plastic capes and skirts but have also dropped the ball with them for some reason.
With cloth it might not match the figure in looks but it won’t hinder the articulation as much.
I think I might lean toward soft goods rn because the figure I have has both soft goods and plastic and the plastic one hinders the articulation, gets paint rub and is just not fun to pose with.
I'm confused at why what looks to be the best of the 3 costs the least price. They should have left the machine gun and ammo belts out to encourage you to get one of the others as well.
I like soft goods more if it’s a full suit that might cover the joint cuts. Trench coats usually look pretty good too. I don’t like spending more on action figure clothes than i do for my own clothes!!
I don't like the pants but the flexible plastic is really impressive.
The most impressive Rambo I've seen is the Threezero 1/6 scale that's on preorder now. And it's more impressive than Hot Toys 🔥 model with more firepower. Def better face sculpts than all the 6 inch versions too.
Stallone is only 5'10". They do camera tricks to make him look taller.
I like soft goods but I do hate how they limit articulation
I actually like soft goods for guys in suits.
I got the mezco 1:12 the shadow and it works great for him. I also have a maniple studios killer 47 (agent 47 but legally distinct lol) and a muff toys top agent (Daniel Craig 007) and they all look really good.
There’s a couple of cloth goods John wicks I’m eyeing right now.
I always thought plastic action figures of guys in suits could look really weird. I think it’s cause the fabric of the jacket doesn’t move the way it should when you post the figure 🤷🏻♂️
Hey anthony, ive seen a review on the toybiz spider sense spider man and noticed it had a hinge articulation set up for the hip and was wondering why more lines dont use this set up. To me it looks like it can consistently give more articulation than for example the hip balls hasbro use, the only thing with the toybiz spidey is the anatomy/ sculpting looks outdated, so would a properly sculpted hinge set up be better that a ball peg for the hip?
Because the hinge on the hip is outdated, there's no need for that when the figure is properly designed, which is Hasbro's issue: they have no idea how to make functional hips, lol.
Some older Marvel Select figures have that hinge like Venom or Carnage, then they updated that joint on some of their recent figures and the range is amazing.
Check their newest Captain America on Anthony's channel, that one has the same type of joints Hasbro figures have but it's actually funcional.
I have this and with the tarp he uses. You don't notice the waist
I didn’t notice the thick waist until you pointed it out, but overall he looks like a nice figure 👍🏻
Looking forward to the Dredd review 🤩
It is a very nice package ...what she said 😂
Soft goods are good for 1/6 scale.
Not a fan of softgoods; even if it’s a character I like, softgoods significantly drops a figure’s appeal for me personally.
But also, I loved the unexpected and slightly random, appreciation of Darwin’s headsculpt haha.
I generally dislike fabric clothing on my figures, gives them a barbie doll look. In my case with buzzmod, Giyu Tomioka's fabric kimono was gutter trash, inhibited his articulation completely. But I will admit when it is done well, like SHF's most recent Vader (comes to mind).
Definitely worth the wait.
I’m a take it or leave it kind of person when it comes to soft goods. The only soft goods I can’t stand are pleather because I know what happens over time, they flake off and become gummy.
Sylvester Stallone's most iconic role is Rambo from the Rambo franchise
Probably rocky...
I'm against soft goods, unless it's for wired capes, and skirts.
Then the articulation isn't hindered.
Just got this, and opened it. So far the only issue I have is the figures ability to stand strong without any wobble. I mean it will stand, but a little breeze, and topple. Anyone else?
I might have to pick this up now. 😅 thanks 😂😂😂
Sylvester Stallone hovers at 5 foot 9 at best
Soft goods work for capes, robes, trenchcoats and Karate Gi’s and that’s pretty much it. I can deal with it sometimes like Mezco Destro because I love the character and the other sculpting involved, or Mezco ghostbusters, but I usually pass. These look too big imo.
That is one massive flight stand so that John can jump up 6 meters and spray bullets through the enemy's entire army. 😄😄😄
you should also take a look at they're Cousin Frank figure
9:54 Well, actually, he is famous for using his boxing gloves in first blood where he........
oh no, wait, that's in second blood, never mind...............
Why can't more companies give us this much value for $80?
Nice
Soft goods make me feel like I'm playing with a Barbie doll, and I worry about damaging the clothes.
Why not just give them doll hair while we're at it?
Plastic is more durable and playable; it won't snag or unravel.
Wired capes are the only soft goods I like, personally.
Yeah, the stand opens up, and you put your weed in there~
The only time I think soft goods works well at this scale is with capes and some jackets.....Mafex uses soft goods well...for the most part....really I just hate traffic cone jackets and capes but for instance most Mezco 1/12 collective figure look like people cosplaying in onesies.....just my opinion but I think the only Mezco I liked was the Morbius figure from last year.....I know....I know.....Im an ass.....Im good with it
Hey Anthony, I forgot to ask this when you reviewed the McFarlane Supermen. Which one do you prefer, the beefy Jim Lee Hush Superman or the smiling "classic" Supes?
From mcf? Neither. No good ones yet
I have ordered one, as I own all of the previously released First Blood figures, HOWEVER, there are a few nitpicks.... First off, the biceps and triceps are far too big and disproportionate, for Stallone at the time....The belt and buckle is wrong...The sheath is also wrong in many aesthetic areas, being right handed is the main issue though...The face is good though, considering the scale...
Wont the rubber decolorize over time compared to the plastic?
Also rot?
There's no rubber on this figure
Well, to be clear, idk what the boots are made out of but i wouldn't worry about them
@@AnthonysCustoms is the neck and torso not rubber?
it is not. rubber is almost never used in action figures outside of O rings and stuff like that...even then, it's usually not rubber. I can count on one finger the number of times ive seen rubber connected to an action figure in any way.
@@AnthonysCustoms THANK GOD, Hiya did it with the skull crawler so I was worried when I saw the neck move that way. Thanks
was plottin on this huge fan of the first movie and book but omg he looks so WIDE in hips, too WIDE
10/10
Can you do a of Rambo 3 review
Yes
I don't like soft goods rather have sculpti work with a realistic paint job
Looks like Ryan Gosling
17:36 NOTHING IS OVER!!
😂😂😂
I respectfully want to point out that if this was done by Hasbro you would have taken issue with the different finishes of the arms. Yes you mentioned it but going off your average review I expected you to be much harsher.
If this was done by hasbro it would have been $200 dollars. Why do Marvel Legends apologists choose to ignore reality? Please don't speak for me.
@@AnthonysCustoms Dude, I’m on record in a lot of your videos saying how much I love it when you dunk on Hasbro… I was trying to be constructive.
Im not sure what happened here…
Stallone is 5'10
First Blood is a brilliant action film, but not in a brainless or schlocky way, and so you should def watch it if you haven't already.
I have
I'm definitely not a fan of cloth outfits on figures, even at 1/6 scale it's impossible to get the tailoring of a lot of garments to look right, so at 1/12 scale it's basically completely hopeless. My heart sank when I learned this was the approach Hiya would be taking for their 1/12 Judge Dredd figures, and indeed between the super thick material and comically oversized zippers they look absolutely ridiculous. Comparatively, this looks like a massive improvement! I think I'm pretty much with you, I don't typically mind soft goods for things like loose-fitting jackets, coats or capes, and in a case like this I can definitely live with it - but I'm definitely not "converted", even by an impressively well-made figure like this.
Great review as always!
Thanks
Hiya toys make very detailed tiny toys, but now also make 6in toys, BUT decides to use cloth goods? 🤔 Idk about that...
Sad, he will be taller than mafex terminator
He is not actually.
Wow, never thought I would be into Hiya! Make more bigger scale figures like these! I'll be buying this and Motoko in the future! Once again, another one better than Hasbro. 🤣
QotD. Soft goods accessory like a jacket or cape. Eh. Depends on the figure. Fully good clothes? Hard pass at this scale.
7:25 Oh no, he’s starting to praise Darwin!
Stockholm Syndrome??
I've always said he has a good head sculpt
I can’t stand Stallone the person. But yea this figure looks badass. Looks like a shrunken down Hot Toys
curious. why can you not stand him?
@@AnthonysCustoms I was an extra in the Rambo movie that came out in 08. I happened to see the guy throwing a bitchfit at some of the crew and others on set. Lost all respect for the guy since then.
ooo. are you easily findable on camera? thats cool
I have the Part III version on preorder stand-by!
I'll be reviewing all 3 of them
Soft goods is fun and nice when done right like mezco wolverine in jeans looks way better and more to the body unlike this Rambo figure looks like he has a diaper on lol
I like the idea of soft goods on figures, but most of the Mezco One:12 figures have terrible proportions and baggy clothes, making them look like brutes or gorillas. Some DAMToys have nice soft goods, like their SAS figures. But generally speaking, soft goods don't do it for me. It's gimmicky.
Mezco focuses too hard on making the outfit and fucks up the base body for it
Action figure Rambo looks cool with there weapons but it looks like he did a lode of doodoo in his pants. 😂😂 lol. I dont like the pants.😊
soft goods capes
everything else plastic
soft goods = the worst. makes them look like children wearing adult clothing.
That looks like a miniature hot toys. That makes current day SHF look like they are ripping people off.
«I come back to the site, and I see all those maggots in the comments, protestin' me, spittin', callin' me "Hasbro Killer!", and all kinds of vile crap! Who are they to protest me, huh?! Who are they, unless they been me and been collecting useless pinless joints, ball hinges that don't move, chests that wont bend and know what the Hell they're yellin' about?!«
In the meantime keep collecting 🪖
