So 23 years ago he went to Sylvester Stallone's house, he saw his academy awards and was little jealous and really longed to have one one-day. Dude, to even only mention Actor is an insult. Dude is an amazing director! The movies he has directed are pretty much the best martial arts movies in the world. The ones he only acts in (and someone else directs) and pretty meh by comparison.
+Bob Thomas Jackie gets more props in my book, Jackie had to live and maintain his life achievements whereas Bruce unfortunately passed and left his as a legend. I admire Jackie because as he lives, he still does right by his life (mostly haha) and has created what very few of his peers could still maintain and achieve in his years. I don't doubt either that Jackie has done things even Bruce might question twice haha, for Chan to have broken out from this legend's shadow was an achievement itself and that is honestly quite an understatement. Omg! I remember, from a long time ago, when he had gone on the Jay Leno show and proclaimed that he'd always wanted an Oscar. He'd felt neglected by Hollywood for all the martial arts, action films he'd done, so he wanted to venture into doing serious, melodramatic films to catch the Academy's eye. I'm reading his book "Never Grow Up" and it is really insane how that little kid in Hong Kong who got picked on in school by the rich kids because he had to climb hills to get home becomes a global screen legend and wins an Oscar in America.
Oh trust me I lived in Hong Kong for 6 years in a well to do area (Kowloon Tong) all thanks to my father who is my hero who lifted us to unachievable heights the amount of ppl who were shocked I was more willing to walk rather than take a taxi home was astonishing. From all the Chinese original movies, American movies, and one of my favorite cartoon shows, Jackie Chan adventures. Holding two Guinness World Records for most stunts by a living actor and most credits in a single film. Some are great action stars, some are great action filmmakers. But whether it be fights, chases, shootouts, explosions, or death-defying feats; Jackie Chan is both.

Action movies dont tend to do very well, unless there is some social justice/dramatic aspect to it. Action comedies in fact are frequently rated pretty low by professional critics

+Bob Thomas Jackie gets more props in my book, Jackie had to live and maintain his life achievements whereas Bruce unfortunately passed and left his as a legend.
I admire Jackie because as he lives, he still does right by his life (mostly haha) and has created what very few of his peers could still maintain and achieve in his years.
I don't doubt either that Jackie has done things even Bruce might question twice haha, for Chan to have broken out from this legend's shadow was an achievement itself and that is honestly quite an understatement. People will always recognise the break-through's but the most important part and often unnoticed are the maintenance of their status.
For me, Jackie surpassed Bruce a long time ago.

And Jackie Chan is first of all an actor then a martial artist, he breaks his bones for the movie, in fact in the movies of Jackie Chan he doesn't use martial arts that much, they are action movie but not necessarily martial arts movie like those of Bruce Lee.

They both do action films, yes, but Chan has never claimed to be any legit martial art's practitioner. He's a devote follower of filmography, in interviews he always cites people such as Buster Keaton or Charlie Chaplin as his film icons and though he speaks fondly of the few interactions between him and Bruce, he's never tried to pass off that he has any great capacity in Martial Arts (though he's probably downplaying himself).
Chan's a man of film and behind cameras he's a perfectionist, so much so that he's one of very few who has his own dedicated stunt teams.
I was only speaking from the perspective of them as people, I admire Jackie much more. He's humble even after all his stardom and incredibly generous with a good standing moral background that's mostly untainted (illegitimate daughter and questionable political views haha) spanning his lifetime.
He's definitely an example what most can call a great role model. One who i'd like to think even greater than Bruce.

when i was younger, jackie chan helped to shape my identity. he helped to make me feel proud of being chinese and showed how kindness and humour can heal. this speech always makes me so emotional, what an amazing guy.

Both territories are located in what is geographically Chine, so there's that too.

Omg! I remember, from a long time ago, when he had gone on the Jay Leno show and proclaimed that he'd always wanted an Oscar. He'd felt neglected by Hollywood for all the martial arts, action films he'd done, so he wanted to venture into doing serious, melodramatic films to catch the Academy's eye. He knew the chances of him obtaining one would be very difficult, but look at him now. I'm so happy for him. This was well deserved and long overdue. Congrats, Jackie Chan!!

Jackie Chan and Robin William are the only two celebrities than put a big smile on my face when I see them. Jackie has been through so much in his life, and had an impact to my childhood. From all the Chinese original movies, American movies, and one of my favorite cartoon shows, Jackie Chan adventures. I'm so proud to have grown up with his movies and the action and comedy he brought to them.
