    When you turn Rpt on in the menu it adds another set of RPT channels 15-22.
    Also. Cig lighters are rated for 15 amps but i know a bunch who have burnt them out! That spring center pin does not maintain contact very well! Might be ok on 5 watts but beyond that be careful!

    Thanks for the video, wanted to confirm this was the unit I wanted to upgrade to from my current MXT 275, love it but since I group lead in my offroad endeavors, I feel more wattage won't hurt. Especially with pushing through to the tail of the convoy.

    I just bought that model and plan to set it up as a base. I'm still waiting on parts for the antenna mast and the grounding. Great review!

    You don’t need to have the squelch open like that. Set the squelch at 3, that will be good for a good majority of your received signals. Plus, leaving the squelch open will not let you use the radio’s scan feature.

    Installed these MXT400 units on the farm base and in the Kubota RTV, they work super. The base unit in the house, I added their Midland speaker and it too is well worth the investment. We use the GTX1050 hand held radios when out of the vehicles. Only issue is the antenna system on the RTV, even with the coil spring, going through wood trails it does not take much to knock it off. Second, there is no optional AC power cord for base use, you have to get a converter. Super for farm use.

      I think Midland came out with new antenna solutions that may help. As for the AC power for base stations most radios don’t come with a built in power supply these days. It would just add expense and weight. Even the Ham Radios are like that. With the new Switching Power Supplies you can get a 20 amp unit for a pretty affordable price.

    You might look into Anderson connectors, they're extremely simple and have a lot of different accessories you can interchange with them. They look and feel better than just using crimp connectors.

    Mobile radios aren't allowed to transmit on channels 8-14, handheld radios only per FCC rule so that's why they are excluded. You may add them in to listen to with the software and cable.

      You need to go to into the menu and turn REP to on.

      You also need permission to use the repeater. They are privately owned, and must get permission to use it.

    I BOUGHT 4 of these radios and I cannot get them to work, for me and my kids who all live about 10-13 miles from me.

      The CB radio band can be a bit tricky. The most important part, especially for "ground wave" is a good antenna system which included a good ground plane if one is required. I run the Antron 99 which doesn't require a separate ground plane it's up about 20 feet. The performance is decent. I don't have any ground plane antennas for CB to compare it to.

    for the love of god can anyone tell me what the M on the left side of the radios screen means? and whats Nar in the middle of the screen? its not ANYWHERE in the manual or online.

    • @timtimeprojects3576
      @timtimeprojects3576  ปีที่แล้ว

      Check page 11 for the M. That is Memory for Scan list. Page 11 for Nar. That is Narrow Band.

    • @joeschnell5695
      @joeschnell5695 ปีที่แล้ว

      That M is for the rf power setting on the MXT400. H is for high power, M is for medium power and L is for low. The MXT400 can scan but doesn’t have a scan list like some other radios do @timtimeprojects .

      Thanks for your service. Because of the relationship between the radio, antenna and mounting options, it would be best to find someone close to you that could help with getting them up and running. The typical CB installation in a mobile would struggle with 10+ miles depending on where you live. Noise, atmosphere and obstructions will influence the performance.
