    They lost me a couple of years back, and it's going to take a huge change of direction (and mass firing of their SJW writers) to win me back again. They deserve this. They did it to themselves.

      Yeah, he put plenty of nods to his Islamist friends in his panels, but people on the Internet noticed (the editors didn't) and he was sacked. That's what you get when you live in a liberal bubble where all Muslims are 'moderate' and there's no problem with an ideology that is massively intolerant to just about everybody on the planet. Libs and Islam have a very dangerous partnership, and what happened in that comic book offers a wider window into the immigration problems that are wrecking Europe right now.

    If they want more LGBT characters they should just write new ones, nobody wants to see existing characters be changed just because they're the wrong sex or colour. And characters can't just be their identity, (outside Tumblr) that's not how real people work.

    • @kyotanaka920
      @kyotanaka920 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wokewell Dankington IMO, I can see real people becoming gay and vice versa. That sounds like a good idea to do, a character exploring their sexuality (or even asexuality, the lack of interest in either sex), that's something for me to read, ONLY if its written well though. If a character turns gay because it only meets the diversity quota, you bet your ass I'm not giving it a second chance, writing like that says a lot about the writing in said product in general, lazy and lame.

    • @ssjsmith8879
      @ssjsmith8879 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They changed them because they knew that NEW characters would be subbed by loyal Marvel fans outright. THAT's why all of these new characters they have made were introduced as "NOT-Sidekick" Side-kicks that could benefit from being woven into the story of the proven hero's snubb free. But REIII! REIIII! Williams will never be Iron Man, So there. Jane Foster...See? They hijacked Mjolnir from Thor so that they could reinvent it without having people snubb Jane, and THEREFORE Thor. It's not working for them is it?

      I'll never understand how writers can't comprehend that readers like an original story, that doesn't guilt trip the reader into social justice. Female thor for example (Jane Foster) has the background of an original character, but nope she became a female Thor, I mean any originality the superheroine could have had was shot, and it's sad to think that marvels excuse is " Evil woman haters".

    As far as Cap going Nazi, Cap was my Fathers favorite superhero. Cap was always fighting with X-23 for number 2 (nobody can overtake Wolverine) but i do like X-23 I could relate because a lot of her original stories were about her handling depression, but i digress. I joined the military right out of high school. I love this country. I love Cornball ass heros and Captain America defined what "Hero" meant, he was what we all aspire to. He did what was right BECAUSE it was right, and when he won he did so with his morals intact. And now he's Nazi. Me and my Father are Jewish, it's an open handed slap to the face. My dad being older and more removed from getting offended simply suggested that Disney must not be as far removed from their founder as they would like the public to be. Personally i will never forgive them for what they did. You cant fix that, and you cant obtain my readership agaim either.

    • @Sarah-zf1kp
      @Sarah-zf1kp 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Not to mention it’s not even an original plot. Cap was brainwashed by Red Skull and the actual Nazis of WWII for an issue back in the 60s, and sent to kill someone...drawing a blank on who though. However, we knew Cap was brainwashed, and we got to see Bucky struggle to try and get his friend back. And of course, Cap broke free of the brainwashing himself. So not only is Marvel full of pandering SJW crap, they’re taking preexisting stories but adding a crap spin to it.

      The funny part is that the SJWs hate Nazis. Really hate them. Because Communists cannot like Nazis. And SJWs are communists.
      I guess they want to equate America with Nazis. Which they are. America is predominately white, after all, and has never had a female president. That makes them Übernazis at least.

      The crazy thing is Marvel has a vault full of non-white characters from all the older comic series. Look how well received Black Panther and Luke Cage was when they brought those two black characters back. So if they want more "diversity" Marvel can easily pull from a line-up of well-established minority/women characters to reintroduce to a new generation of comic fans without changing white characters to non-white or a male to female characters.

      Look at Star Wars and their obsession with female leads:
      Force Awakens lead: Rey
      Rouge One lead: Jinn
      Battlefront II: female storm trooper commando...
      They have three opportunities to create new storylines and all the leads are females.
      I didn't have a problem in the beginning but now it's just suspicious...

    Even though Marvel is beating DC in live action movies, I've realized that DC is beating Marvel in everything else. DC has great animated movies and TV shows, DC is doing very well in live action television, and as far as I know DC is doing very well in their comics. Now why Marvel isn't doing well in TV or animation I couldn't say, but now I understand why their comics are failing. I really am sick of politics, especially leftist politics, ruining entertainment just to force political ideas down our throats. The only comics I collect right now from Marvel are Star Wars comics, and I've been wondering if I should start picking up any other series. Now I have my answer.

    Most Marvel comics have been garbage for years. There's no focus on quality stories, just desperate attempts to get readers attention with shock marketing. The whole Nazi Cap is the straw that broke the camel's back with many fans, along with the dysfunctional diversity agenda.
    Captain America as a Nazi is really a slap in the face to Jack Kirby and Stan Lee.

    Marvel's main problem isn't pushing social commentary, it has done so during its entire history. The main problem is that they have become so lazy about it. Instead of using subtlety they beat people over the head with it. Instead of creating new minority characters and spending years building up their rapport with fans like with Storm, Blade, Black Panther and Luke Cage they instead co-opt established big name characters and race/gender/religion swap em.
    This is where they are really mucking it up, people don't just overnight take to new characters, so while in the past they could introduce new characters and it not hurt business that is because they had their established big name hitters to carry the sales as the new upstarts slowly become profitable. But now they have gutted their big names and are suddenly surprised that the sales are slumping.
    Then there is the message itself, people can get behind the X-Men series being an allogory for the oppressed, they can talk about stories of mutants being chased down and beaten to death for being different. It's because the story was told from a place of genuineness and always the characters seemed honest and humble. Now that has changed with characters seeming didactic or smug and the stories involved are very poorly written.

    The love of God and country are the core values of Captain America. Cap's patriotic idealism is not extended by only that of the uniform he wears, but by his very heart & soul. In essence, Captain America is to Marvel what Superman is to DC. As with Superman, Cap represents the iconic tagline; "truth, justice, & the American way". In the ill-fated "Superman Returns" film, by Brian Singer, Perry White repeats that immortal tagline, out of context, by saying, "Truth, justice & "ALLTHAT STUFF". One tends to forget that these wonderful and immortal characters were creations of writers and artists who never took America for granted. The term; "PATRIOTISM" wasn't simply an empty word, but rather a beloved ideal related to a country which bred, first & foremost, individual freedoms to those blessed by living here in The United States. During WW2, men simply didn't choose to fight & die for their Government, but rather to keep America a safe & free nation for their families, and future generations. These mythological superheroes, such as Captain America, were created, first and foremost, for that reason alone. So for Marvel Comics to intentionally have Captain America join a fascist organization (*even if it is a fictional one*) like HYDRA, is nothing more than a slap in the face to Cap's creators, the readers, and the character itself. I've often defended this character by reminding people that his name isn't Captain North Korea. Nor is it Captain Russia. And no, it certainly isn't Captain Iran. His name is, now and forever, "CAPTAIN AMERICA". And this is the name which Cap's creators, Joe Simon & Jack Kirby (*may they both R.I.P.*), intended for him to be. Captain America is called "The Sentinel of Liberty" for good reason. And in my opinion he forever shall be. God Bless.

    I think one of the problems with diverse Marvel is that they're replacing existing characters. These new characters would be much better recieved if they were their own characters. @AceLM92 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Super Saiyan Goddess treating him right would involve letting him grow up (which they won't do, thinking that his appeal is souly from him being a younger character) and actually learn responsibility instead of just saying his power & responsibility quote while doing the opposite

    • @supersaiyangoddess4293
      @supersaiyangoddess4293 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +HeadBangerAust His best comics are still the ones where he's in high school and college days. It has nothing to do with him not growing up it just seems like they're tired of the character and they're trying to push him out to replicate his popularity with other charecters. They keep desperately trying to push Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen but Peter still obliterates both of them combined in sales pretty consistently.

    • @sm3sam97
      @sm3sam97 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      IMO, they should honestly kill him off or have him retire.
      You want a younger, witty appeal character swinging around?
      Two options Marvel:
      1. Go the old DC route and do a proper reboot. And I mean REBOOT. You start ALL OVER. You don't pull a New 52, you start from the very beginning. Peter being bit, Hulk gaining his powers, Iron Man making his armor and escaping captivity, all that jazz. There, now you have Spider-Man back to drag out for 10-20 years.
      2. The more mature route. You retire Peter...and make Miles the new Spider-Man. He's hella popular, appearing on Ultimate and in the new upcoming XD series. You have HIM be the one to put down Cap like in the all the visions(this would make Civil War II have at least some reason for existing) and become the main Spidey by saving the world. Peter retires after this stupid Goblin War thing and Miles becomes the world's only Spider-Man.
      Or you can keep dragging Peter down. That's nice too.

    • @AceLM92
      @AceLM92 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Super Saiyan Goddess don't entirely agree because Kraven's Last Hunt and the original symbiote costume/Venom arc were after college and both were awesome, but just examples. I'm not a fan of Miles Morales in particular because people act as if he is the only Ultimate Spider-Man, despite being the 2nd and coming out after Brian Michael Bendis stopped caring, but I at least understand why people like him. no idea why people go nuts for Gwen Stacy characters, she wasn't that interesting in the silver age, my theory is because of Emma Stone playing her in the last 2 flicks. gwenpool has no good reason to exist

    You nailed this… The political bullshit completely turned me off. I read comics to escape the everyday bull crap of societies failures and my escape started bashing me because of my political views. This couldn’t be any sweeter justice for me. I believe in capitalism and this only goes to show how well it works.
    As for Captain America. It’s freaking Captain AMERICA.. When you rip apart the character that completely represents the most amazing country on earth, what do you freaking expect..!!!
    Instead of creating new characters, God forbid, SJW’s have to take over ours.
    Iron man = Turned into a Woman Thor = Turned into a Woman
    Wolverine = Turned into a Woman Ice Man = Turned Gay
    And it continues on and on instead of celebrating the characters already made. Seriously, I want to Wolverine slice someone’s head off because they spilled his beer. I could care less that they now feel the need to show women can be just as bad ass. They’re called names like Rogue and Storm. If you want to make a superhero or villain a female, gay, or what the hell ever, then create one and leave the originals alone. It’s really that simple.
    Simply ask yourself this. They changed Nick Fury into a black man. Fine, I can live with it. But what would happen if Black Panther or Storm was casted and changed in comics into white person? Yea, you know the answer and that's the definition of hypocrisy.
    Oh well, I’ll step off my soap box now. They’re not getting my money anymore so that’s my justice. It was good while it lasted..

      But that is what those marxists, postmodernists lunatics do. In order to push their agenda, they first need to destroy everything in their path. It's the bitterness and resentment ot the core that drives them - and they want everyone to suffer as much as they do while obviously ignoring that other people do in fact suffer in their own unqiue ways. Psychological projection and a lack of compassion.

    I think the basic issue at hand: Marvel failed to understand what a comic book character means to the reader.
    Each character has a rich history, and the reader shares in that history. The reader bonds with the character, and likes each character for his or her flaws. So, the reader expects the character to grows with the reader.
    Watching that character die a horrible death, for some silly reason, with callous editors pushing the stories, means most readers revolt and now Marvel suffers for it.

Read MTMTE and the current series Lost Light. Want to see Transformers living on Cybertron? Read ExRiD Season 1/ and the current series Till All Are One. Want to see the Transformers on Earth? Read ExRiD Season 2/ and the current series Transformers: Optimus Prime. The IDWverse is rich with lore, even incorporating Transformers marriage, sounds dumb at first but it's handled very well and makes the characters more relatable. Also, Megatron is trying to find redemption, that story is also great. Lots of great art, MTMTE has the best art in Transformers comics ever.

    As a liberal, I cannot stand these new writers (and Spencer for he is the worst) and their hamfisted politics. No one wants to be preached at in a medium that is mainly popular for its escapism! It would not even be this bad if half of the new characters were even good. They had to give Jane cancer to make her interesting and it has not worked, Kamala went from an interesting character to a teen book dealing with INTERNET TROLLS and politics, Cho as Hulk has been boring, Sam as Nova was fun (but Nova has never been popular and that doomed the book from the start), Miles is just boring without him being in the Ultimate Universe, Vision's daughter turned off her emotions so now she is literally an emotionless robot and that is completely boring, Sam as Cap. could have been good in Spencer had any talent as a writer (but he doesn't so the book sucks), and Riri...oh god...is absolutely terrible and everything she does is the best thing ever! She beat the Techno Golem in one issue where Tony (one of the smartest men alive and Iron Man) and Rhodey (a trained soldier) could not beat her. Not to mention she has had to deal with zero ramifications for stealing from MIT and running from the cops. God Bendis has lost his touch.
    I hate most of what Marvel has done the past few years with the X-Men being what put me over the edge. Killing off Logan (he was finally having a good life at the school and with my girl Ororo), turning Scott into a poor man's Magneto (and then killing him off), activily trying to kill off the mutants to push the Inhumans (which has not worked at all), turning Bobby gay for no reason (why not just bring back Northstar if Bendis wanted a gay X-Man?), everything Bendis did with the X-Men, and now even with the current books with the racist artist on Gold (glad his ass is gone), Blue being shit because the time displaced team is terrible and have no reason to still be here, Bobby's first solo book is going to be about him being gay rather than anything to do with him being a superhero, the Jean book looking dull, and I honestly could go on. At least Weapon X's first issue was good and I have hope for Astonishing, but Marvel has killed most of my interest in their universe. At least DC apologized for DC You and the bad parts of the New 52 (there were a lot of books I enjoyed from the new 52, but god there was a lot of bad too) and turned the ship around with Rebirth (which has been kicking Marvel's ass).
    If Marvel wants to do a diverse character right, then they need to look at Jessica Cruz over at DC. A Latina, who has crippling anxiety, got the Power Ring from Earth 3 and nearly went crazy as a result. The Justice League took her in to try and train her and help her. She eventually defeated the ring and sacrificed her own life to save the League. She was brought back to life and rewarded as a Green Lantern. She is now in her own book with Simon Bazz, and just recently learned how to make her own constructs. She still has a lot to learn, but you can actually see the character growth happening and has actual flaws that make the character far better than little miss perfect Riri.

    It might help if they lowered their prices.
    $4.00 is a ridiculous price to pay for a single issue every month.
    A lot of teenagers can't afford to subscribe to very many titles at those prices.
    Also, in trying to monopolize distribution, by taking them off of shelves and racks in grocery stores and drug stores, they're insuring that children who don't live within walking distance of a comic book store, aren't going to get into comics on their own.
    And they wonder why it's so hard for them to get (and keep) new readers.

I turned to indies and foreign titles and never looked back. I've enjoyed the movies, but they're starting to go south. I need look no further than the entire X-Men movie franchise and the complete mess it became. It had such a huge potential. They could have done so much good with it. That's what everyone seems to be saying, that DC is better these days. I wouldn't really know, the last regular title I followed from DC was "The New Teen Titans" back in the late 80's until I got fed up with the soap opera it had become. I really liked "Preacher" and "Transmetropolitan" but they had to separate that stuff from their regular line onto Vertigo to keep their regular shit from being infected by the badassery of those titles, lol! So yeah, it's been awhile since I've followed anything from them.
      So it was Fox in charge of X-Men? That explains a lot. They're the same ones who cancel a popular TV series the instant it drops one fraction of a point in ratings. I guess I'll have to be content with the small part Colossus played in Deadpool. To me, it's the best representation of the classic comic character so far.

    Pretty concise and constructive for an unscripted piece.
    I'd like to hear your thoughts on Superior spiderman and if it contrasts with your opinion of current spiderman, I honestly liked the idea and thought it was a pretty bold direction to take with the series; I loved how it came full circle with Peter being the superior spiderman. I also found Octavius's character struggles to be very endearing, more so when Octavius is emulating the feeling of admiration and idolising peter not unlike how we ourselves as fans look up to our heroes and apply their ideals into our basic outlook.
    New writers now using superheroes as a platform to push an agenda and force it into relevancy is fucking disgusting, more so when they are literally killing off characters and wearing the mask of their ideals and what they represented to push a new standard.

    Years ago, Cecilia Reyes was introduced to the X-Men.
    She was a woman, she was black, she was Puerto Rican, she was a reluctant mutant hero. And she was strong. And yet I do not remember thinking Marvel had introduced her just to have a black, Puerto Rican, female hero.
    She did mention the fact that she faced discrimination. She worked in a field full of white, male doctors. But did she spend all her time complaining about this fact? No. She mentioned it in passing to explain the situation to someone when her status as a mutant made her lose her job , but then she spent all her time being a doctor (and a reluctant hero). She let her actions speak for her. She did not do these things for anyone else. She did not do them to further any feminist agenda. She did them because she was a great doctor who wants to do a good job.
    If writers today knew how to create characters (of any gender, race and nationality) that spent their time being strong (even though they have their weaknesses) and not only talking about how strong they are, people would enjoy them and receive them well.

    I would have ditched Nintendo if they went down this SJW path, hell now that the Nintendo Switch is region free, I would be better off importing games from Japan instead of suffering what Nintendo of America's Treehouse localisation team dished up.
    I feel that Disney needs to push all SJWs out of Marvel, unless if it was current Disney's fault for putting them in the first place.
    I would hate to see Disney Movies go down this SJW path and it is scary that some actors and actresses hired by Disney even have some of these SJW views.

      Nintendo will not allow this cancer to affect this. Even if Reggie himself has to do damage control because his guys were idiots, they will not allow it. Even if *Shiggy* has to get involved, it will be crushed. So many SJWs wanted Link to be female or have the option to be female in BotW, but Nintendo said "Link is a character, not your avatar. Screw off."

    During free comic book day. They gave away a secret empire book. I went back to my local comic shop today, and their are still stacks of that book sitting their (over 75 copies).
    Even if you give that shit away for free people won't take it.

    Marvel is currently the new 52 but i'm pretty confident that they will do a turn around just like dc did... Lot of the current marvel titles are actually pretty good imo.... I've heard that secret empire was actually pretty good.

      The no 52 was more like the Ultimate Universe. Just dumb ideas for the sake of trying something new. Current Marvel is just rehashing basic ideas over and over.

    I agree 100%. It blows my mind that there are those who argue there is no political agenda including Marvel itself. All you have to do is take 20 minutes and read Nick Spencer's Twitter. He point blank says he is doing it for political reasons. (By the way my favorite response to Nick Spencer was Ed Brubaker's Tweet. Classic.) I am a Captain America fan. He is my favorite and I collect comics about him. There has not been a bigger slap in the face then this Nick Spencer Hydra Cap as a Cap fan. And it isn't even well written. I have read bits and pieces online because I refuse to spend money on trash. And it is as bad as people say. It's for a political agenda and it craps on who Steve Rogers is and fans, many of whom aren't even that political, who love Captain America.

    Comics, or any fantasy media, shouldn't be based in any one political ideology. Certain characters can be shown to think a certain way, but the overall story should be unbiased as a whole. It's ok to acknowledge political veiws, but if you hold to one or the other, you alienate one side or the other.

    I also agree (sorry I keep posting) on the diversity thing you pointed out. I feel like they (the writers) are coming from a place of narcissism. They need to make the characters the character first, and their race/gender/religion second, if even that. But these days they shove the secondary thing in our face. They are so self-absorbed they can't stand the idea of relating to a character that isn't 100% like them.

    in 2004 I was talking with my local comic store owner. He made a profound statement to me, he said Marvel Comics are in trouble due to the fact that they no longer care about the comics. At this point in time he was told by a Marvel Rep that "their emphasis was not on the comics but on the movies."
    I think that Marvel is now dealing with the ramifications of this business model.
    The reader is the core of the MCU

    I love the X-Men. I've had to watch as marvel has crapped on them for years now. It's sucked. Reeree could have been cool if she were sort of an apprentice who seeks her own path she could have been interesting. The rest of the legacy character can just fade from existing because their timeline was destroyed or whatever. Honestly I don't care how you get rid of them just get rid of them. Maybe have them all riding a bus then the bus crashes or something, I'd be ok with that. As for secret empire- it was given away as a free comic on free comic book day- I could pick it up. IT WAS FREE, and I couldn't bring myself to pick up a free comic. Cap is best when he's conflicted with the modern world and the motives of it. He is not a hydra sleeper!

    As a comic-book fan and a football fan, I'd like to say "Come on, man." Comics & football are two things my dad and I can spend hours talking about.
    That said, I completely agree with your assessment on Marvel. Jason Aarons ruined Thor for me (my favorite) when he made him "unworthy" and I never picked up an issue with the female Thor. Of course, Aarons called all the Thor fans misogynists for not supporting the book anymore. I think early on, Disney was giving Marvel tons of money to go out and push "diversity" and political agendas, never thinking that it would backfire on them.

    Book sales are never going to climb to the levels of the past. HOW are they NOT producing animated movies?

    I'm with you on this. I too am happy Marvel comics is failing. I grew up reading Thor, Avengers, and Captain America. Those 3 were the comics I bought every single month out of my allowance, so what Marvel has done to my childhood favorites angers me. I don't really care if they end up wiping away all the stupidity and resetting their universe. They cared so little about Captain America and Thor that they were willing to completely rewrite/destroy them to suit their SJW agenda, so I'm done with Marvel.
