    it's 2017 and I see tons of Buick century 1984- 2008 and they still look great and drive great I know because I own a buick century and my family has always bought buicks. My point is here in illinois I never see Ford taurus anywhere and if i do it's beat to death and falling a part literally. the buick centuries/regal/ Lesabre,Etc.. all still running strong all over illinois/Chicago land area. The engine in these cars just run so well it's amazing imo.

      the century's a junky car the 3100 has the dexcool coolant otherwise known as dexkill.

    • @tyler2610
      @tyler2610 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@howtobebasic2122 All GM cars of this period used Dexcool. If you maintain it it won't destroy your gaskets. The 3.8 and to a lesser extent 3.1 motors are very food engines if properly maintained. I have an '04 Century with Limited package with 120,000 currently.

    Wouldn’t the Mercury Sable be a more direct competitor?

    • @ProtoAzula
      @ProtoAzula 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes and no, the taurus is in the same price range whereas the Sable is quite a bit more expensive without really improving much

    What’s the difference between the Century and Regal?

    • @Tuneman1984
      @Tuneman1984 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They were on the same wheelbase and platform in this generation, but Regal was marketed as a more "sporty" sedan, whereas the Century was more traditional and entry-level luxury. Also the Century only had the 3.1L V6 whereas the Regal came standard with the 3800 V6 and had the supercharged 3800 on the Regal GS.

      If you get the century, keep a close eye on the condition of the oil, that there is no sign of coolant getting into the oil which happens through the intake gaskets.

  • @dcapache

    Its a 2004 or 1998 car?

  • @supercharger_2596
    @supercharger_2596 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have an 04 Limited... It is so outdated compared to the competition. (I bought it used in 07) A 3.1L V6 with only 175hp? 4 cylinder Accords, Altimas, Camrys, etc made the same power or more. The interior is bland, the gauge cluster is outdated and lacks alot of motor indicators and does not have RPMs. The speakers are paper thin and sound terrible. The window motors are of poor quality and constantly need to be repaired. The car is still running with 138k miles (2019) with occasional transmisson jerks when shifting gears. The leather seats are the only good quality of the interior cause the rest is made of cheap plastic that easily breaks or cracks, especially the door panels. If I could go back, I would have bought a japanese competitor. This car virtually did not change when it first debuted this body style in 97 and lost options like sunroof, digital climate control, etc. It is no wonder why the century was discontinued in 05.

      the 3100 is known for blowing head gaskets very unreliable and poorly made.

      When compared to other budget luxury cars though, the competition couldn't compare in gas mileage, power, comfort, handling, or price. There simply wasn't anything that was really comparable. Plus they're really not that bad, I have an 05 custom and I honestly prefer it over a 2015 impala from personal experience. They hold up surprisingly well and you still see a lot of them on the roads compared to the cars it was competing against, and it's because nobody was trying to. And once they rolled around the 2000 model year, all came standard with 175 hp as opposed to the previous 160. I honestly wouldn't trade it for anything

    I have one as a back up car. As long as you don't care about handling, ride quality, acceleration, or gas mileage, it's great.
    In all seriousness it's probably fine. I'm just spoiled by modern sports cars at this point. It's reliable and gets the job done.

    El motor 3.1 es flojo,de aluminio y muy problemático,quema las juntas con el tiempo y permite la entrada del refrigerante del motor,padecen también del 'damper' del cigüeñal. El Mejor motor es el 3800 series II.

      De Verdad? Mi familia tenía uno de nuevo a 195,000 millas cuando se totalizó y en ese tiempo, aparte de los cambios de aceite y fluido trans, no tuvo ningún problema. Creo que puede confundirse con otro, especialmente porque el 3.1L era de hierro al menos para el bloque

    A shame they dropped the Century Limited trim after 2002, which was easily the best looking and most well-equipped of the entry level Buick. I wouldn't even consider any Century after 2002 because of that. The Taurus easily wins for 2004. Not to mention that you could also get a wagon. If you wanted a little luxury, you could get the 2004 Mercury Sable sedan or wagon.

    • @tyler2610
      @tyler2610 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could still get the "Limited package" from '03-05. Basically it included leather seats and the nice chrome wheel covers. The only real options that were dropped when they discontinued the Limited were the digital climate control and the sunroof (I am sure VERY few Centuries were ordered with sunroofs so it would reason to discontinue the option). However you could get the digital climate control on the "Special Edition" offered from '04-05. All the wheel options offered in 2002 were available from '03-05 so saying the Limited package made the car look a lot better makes no sense, from the outside you could option a Custom identically to a Limited.
