A few days ago, my T460 started to only power up for 1 or 2 seconds, even with the power cord connected, then turn itself off.
It did start up correctly one time after I put a different battery pack in, but now it it is back to turning off after 2 seconds, just the keyboard lighting up not the screen.
Do you know what causes this? A bad capacitor in the power supply? Any help welcome.

It looks like your charging control circuit is not working. Try charging the battery on another work laptop and plug it back into yours to confirm the theory.

in my video, I found a capacitor in the matrix control board, in your case, the cable connecting the matrix to the motherboard may be damaged. you need a comprehensive diagnosis and correct repair methods.

Same problem. Can I try this or may be something else? I wanna check the fuse and capacitors, any tip for that? A technician told me that: the bright chip must be failling, is that possible? Sory my bad english.

My video is not an instruction or a call to action. You need to have experience to determine which capacitor is closed. if you have a similar problem, then this is not always the reason for the capacitor

Mine is a T470 and it went out after I changed the ram. Is it likely I have the same problem?

    • @sdsetup2596

No, such a problem cannot arise during the process of replacing RAM. Try replacing the old memory and check if the laptop turns on

@sdsetup2596 I actually did that just a bit ago and it works with the old ram. This was new ram right out of the package too! Can they not handle 16gb?

Most likely you have a blown fuse on the motherboard power supply 19 V for the backlight
