This was a great video and very informative. You should get a windscreen attachment so your microphone doesn't pick up the wind noise. Very useful for those prairie winds. 😊
When I visited Desmet, I came in from the North & I remembered thinking that Laura & Almanzo’s first home should be along this road before I get to the town, and suddenly there was the marker! To think Almanzo drove his buggy from there, and all the way to the Ingall’s homestead to take Laura on a buggy ride every Sunday when they were courting.
That's interesting. Not many people come in from the north. Did you have trouble finding any of the sites north of 14 then? I think most of the signage is aimed at coming in from the east/west/south.
Went to De Smet for the first time this past spring. It was so surprising to me that everything seemed almost exactly as described in Laura's books even though nearly 140 years have passed. Yes, there were newer buildings and modernisations, but the prairie itself seemed timeless and unchanging.
Thank you so much for these videos ! I hope I could come to visit in 2024 !
Love how flat it is. I live in the mountains. Thanks for sharing I really enjoyed it.
