Otter trail June 2024

Believe it or not, this amazing adventure on the Otter Trail literally came out of nowhere! My daughter, Simone, told me she was going, and next thing I know, there's an opening for me to join her!
As a recently retired 59-year-old, I jumped at the chance. Let me tell you, this shot up to the top of my best experiences ever list! This video, edited on CapCut with some final music touches on Clipchamp, captures the fun, laughter, and the amazing scenery of the trail.
We weren't just hiking - we were conquering river crossings, mountains, and most of the trip was right next to the sea! (And yes, we did see three otters - apparently one sighting is considered lucky!)
There was a bit of a hiccup at the Bloukrans River crossing (you'll see the tide being far too strong in the video). Low tide wasn't low enough, and even then, it was too dangerous. Turns out, my attempt at a solo crossing wasn't the brightest idea (let's just say the professionals had to intervene to avoid a swimming disaster!). We had to take the escape route, but hey, that's part of the adventure, right?
This hike recharged everyone's soul, and if the chance ever arises to do it again, you bet I'll be there! (Pretty sure everyone else feels the same way!)
