I dont know ... There is something I dont like about that sound, to me that Strat or any of his Solars sounded way better ... there is some kind of "dryness" in the sound that I dont like ... But hey, I dont like the tone of JP himself and eve Dream Theater much, so I probably should not comment at all here :D
I'm going to have to completely disagree with you dude. This sound sounds weak and without enough saturation. Those guitars suck and are overpriced and overrated
@@iTz_FLAwL3zZ buddy have you ever tried Dimarzio d activators ? Or ever compared to illuminators set ? I wanna buy one of these sets for my Rgd and im not sure which one to buy , they are both awesome ..
The EBMM Petrucci models are expensive af but worth every Cent imho. Both the JP and the "Majesty" are loaded with cool features like ss-frets,Piezo,a non- locking floating trem that actually stays in tune, great pickups and the new models even have an onboard DB-boost function. But best of all,is the ergonomic design. Compound radius fingerboards, super upper fret access, light weight and look how great the control layout is. And these guitars aren´t "one trick ponies" like many sign.models. Joe Bonamassa used a JP on "The Ballad of John Henry" studio record and that guy´s genre couldn´t be more far away, from the Prog-Metal stuff that Petrucci plays.
They really are great. I just picked up a Majesty last week and it is in a class all it's own. However, I don't believe they have a compound radius fretboard. I believe they are a straight 17" (19"?), but I'd have to look it up to be sure. I seem to remember thinking that it was a little odd that it didn't have a compound radius. Either way, it feels and plays unbelievably well.
I used to be brand manager of Ernie Ball in My country. I was so excited when we received these, and i got to meet John Petrucci several times and make videos with him. But for some reason i never connected with the instrument. The steve morse Music Man though, is seriousely underrated.
I want to buy one and I can’t decide between a jpx or jp15. Can you tell me what’s the better of the 2 and which one will have a better resale value . Thanks
I have a year one EBMM Edward Van Halen signed in the neck pocket signature model. Cherry burst. Its 30 years old now and plays perfect. Its never needed any adjustments. Set in perfect intonation, string height and stays and perfect tune. You cant make it go out of tune. Its heavy by todays standards and it honks like a tele w/ humbuckers. l used to use it for years. lts been rained on in a gig, sweat on, left in hot vans etc and still works like new. Ive got Suhr's, T Anderson, a Heritage, Ibby Jems etc but that Eddie V is a great guitar if you get the right one. They were great for the about the first several hundred made and then like anything else they went to lighter cheaper woods and just arent the same IMHO. lve been looking at Solars lately too. Cool guitars. Good show.
The piezo distortion is because that pickup has a much wider dynamic range than the magnetic pickups. Your attack strength can clip the amp when hit harder. Piezos are usually run into an acoustic amp or into a preamp with compression then into the PA.
Great video Ola... I was looking forward to this one for awhile like you were... the Majesty guitars are different than the JP series but still very good. I am looking forward to you playing one in the near future.... cheers from Canada
I don't know what you did there, but this is your best sounding video.. I'm not talking just about the guitar tone etc.. overall the best sounding video of yours
Hi! Ola's I'm huge fan of you from Maraland, Northeastern India. # Your channel help me alot to discovered tons of some new & awesome Instruments & Tools with some of the instructional that will help us alot in our future! Glad you dig it. I’m a huge fan of both John Petrucci and of course...yours truly. Thanks for the video awesomeness (the Dime riffs were sweet too) and happy holidays!🤘🏻💯🤘🏻
John petrucci, he got the best signature shovels in the market. And ola, can you make a review of the harley benton fusion 2. i wanna hear your opinion on it.
The PLEKing also allows for near perfect intonation across the fretboard. I had my American Pro strat PLEK'd from Sweetwater when I bought it and it's awesome!
Nice tones here! I’ve never really liked the DiMarzios, but you managed to make them sound awesome, as always! I got the stealth black version of the JP6 as a 40th birthday gift (most expensive gift I EVER got by FAR!). That is the highest quality guitar I laid my hands on. The playability is out of this world, best neck ever, perfect intonation, flawless finish and build. Every aspect of that guitar has been thought out and optimized... but for John Petrucci ! I play way harder than he does, and I’m not half as proficient as a shredder, than he is. But that instrument is so well thought-out and crafted, I think it would be blasphemous to customize that one for my liking (pickups change, tremolo blocking) and I don’t really care for the piezo, and all that it comes with : extra cavities, extra switch, extra volume pot, extra 9V battery, extra input, extra wiring. All that makes me guess I’ll have to sell it, I can’t keep a guitar that expensive that I have no real use for. But I know I’ll always miss that neck...
Those DiMarzio Crunch Lab pickups are really good. I've got one in my Ibanez JS1000 and it sounds awesome. It's really versatile for a high output pickup. Definitely my favorite of all the pickups Ive tried.
Hello Ola: Just to clarify... a Plek machine scans the guitar to the mininum detail. The level of accuracy is almost microscopic , but it does not fix the guitar. Based on the findings, a human being has to correct the issues found. It could be walk in the park fix or a lot of work ( fix something, put it back on the machine, check again, then fix something else and so on until complete). BTW: the pickups on that guitar are DiMarzio Crunchlab (bridge) and Liquidfire (neck).
I really think you should try the Majesty. Glad you mention that at the end of the video. I didn't care for the JPM's but really like the Majesty's. I'm not a Petrucci or Dream Theater fan at all (sorry but I am an Ola fan), expected to hate the Majesty but saw a used one and picked it up just to see what it was like and was really impressed.
Same here. I remember my first time seeing them and thinking they seemed a little odd and how could thay possibly be THAT good? Then I picked one up and played it. Took me all of 10 seconds to realize that the Majesty (regardless of if you like the aesthetics or not) is a ridiculously good guitar.
I love mine. My EBMM JP 7 Desert Gold is from '08! The EBMM JP7 BFR XI is a bit different. Love both of them. The piezo feature is very useful to me. I like blending clean sounds and the Piezo out to PA. One is standard the other 1/2 step down. My main one is in standard, but I use the drop sometimes. I sometimes use my Eventide Pitch Factor to simulate 12 string. Blending in the piezo made it sound more convincing. So, it is like a virtual 14 string guitar double neck. Just without the weight of 2 necks.
Hey, looks exactly like the JP BFR I had years ago. I think it was around 2009 when I had it. I liked the guitar. It was something different. Great sounding neck pick (Air Norton), not so great sounding bridge (D Sonic). Can't really say I loved it though, as it had major problems with the g string not keeping tune. I took it to like 3 different people to set it up, and no luck. Luckily I sold it back to the guy I bought it from without taking a wash.
My Enchanted Forest Majesty broke 2 high E strings within days of getting it, and didn't hold tune as well as it should. I was about to send it in for warranty work, but then it settled down perfectly. I regularly bend the high strings 2 steps, and no more breakage or losing tune. Ya gotta let a new guitar acclimate to its new environment, and get broken in, before you say negative things about it. I have a vintage LP Custom, and a late 80's PRS Custom 24, and this guitar outshines them both. Best guitar I've ever played, and I haven't put it down since buying it about 4 months ago. Also, it was set up perfectly when it arrived. The action was lower than I could handle, meaning, when I bent strings, the adjacent string would slip under my finger. I considered raising the action, but didn't want to have to mess with the intonation, since it was also perfect. But once I got my callouses built up, no more problems with bending strings. And your touch has a lot to do with how in-tune it plays. You hit a couple chords out of tune, which was due to your touch, not the guitar. And those chord voicings in Metropolis are wrong, btw. lol
Thank you for following through from an ebmm fanboy. I have to say he changed the pickups as well. If from back then, it would have shipped with air nortons. That blade on the bridge gives away the liquifire/crunch lab.

I got super lucky and picked up Misha's old JP6 w/Bareknuckle Pain Killer in the Bridge(mystic dream) for under 1k on Reverb. I love the middle pickup position!!
Holy Shit Ola ! That amp and guitar together with you playing... sounds Epic man 👍 sooo happy you did it this way instead of putting it through a plug in 🤘Tubes for life✊
EBMM has a weird fascination for sigs. I notice half their guitars are sigs but multiple models of them. They dont feel like sigs imo though besides the JP shield inlay.
Can’t go wrong with Charvel Pro mod 24’s sound amazing/fast neck/graphite truss rod/ not expensive like signature guitars. It has a floyd rose but with a black box upgrade you can downtune/break a string without affecting the rest of the strings.
Hi Ola! In the Music-Store in Cologne they have a 7-String Majesty hanging in the custom-shop section. Maybe if you are on a tour through Germany workshop-wise or similar, you can give that shop a visit.
Hey Ola, there's a good chance that the small amount of distortion you're getting on your clean channel is cross talk from the gain channel. If that is the case you can make it go away by turning down all of the controls for the gain channel when using the clean channel. Obviously that does no good for a live situation, but I don't get the feeling you're taking that amp out of the road anyway. Lots of amps have this issue, hope this helps.
If this is a 200X model, then the PUs will be different to what he's using now. I believe he was using a Crunch Lab in the bridge, and a LiquiFire in the neck (both DiMarzio of course) back then for those models. Now I believe he's using his new custom PUs called the Illuminators.
Have a great friday everyone! Remember to SMASH that friday and also subscribe to my Saturday while you're at it!

Obviously that does no good for a live situation, but I don't get the feeling you're taking that amp out of the road anyway.
Lots of amps have this issue, hope this helps.
Love the crunchlab, one of the best bridge pickups I've played
Incredible. About time 👍
Playing was killer on this one, Ola!
If this is a 200X model, then the PUs will be different to what he's using now. I believe he was using a Crunch Lab in the bridge, and a LiquiFire in the neck (both DiMarzio of course) back then for those models. Now I believe he's using his new custom PUs called the Illuminators.
The Mesa sounds huge, the dimarzios encase it all in a smooth suit of iron.
I love my EBMM's, fantastic guitars. Great video, Ola. :) \m/
Sounds so good bro.... You need to play a Majesty they are amazing to.
One of the best pantera tunes ever ola

Heartfelt acoustic guitar playing with Ola
I love you Ola Englund🖤 You inspired me like crazy hell 🤘🤘🤘
This is the best tone you’ve ever had. Thick, juicy with balls. Makes me want a M2C+
What a tone!
Happy for you to get one finally to play.
Just dig the video because of that small Liquid Tension Experiment lick
Man...u surely can play DT songs 👍
I always love Musicman for the headstock, great design and great strings alignment 👍👍👍
