Anna Griffin, as you know, recommends cutting into the Empress magnetic mat. Her mats are really prone to getting paper embedded into the magnetic mat and it’s nearly impossible to dig them clean. In desperation, I experimented with just putting COSTCO parchment paper on the magnetic mat directly and then cut into the mat with her most intricate dies. Wow. It works amazingly. Mat seemed untouched but cut and embossed perfectly. No mat cleanup needed. This one only magnetic mat on this Walmart machine might be preserved with the parchment paper. Now I take the box of 14” wide parchment paper, line it up against my long Cricut paper trimmer and cut stacks easily of parchment paper for all the mat sizes on the Empress system. Ever ready and ever easy.

I have the die cutting machine. I got in out of the clearance section. I didn't need another die cutting machine so I had the cashier scan it first and it scanned for $20. I could not leave it in the store for that price. I like it. I have had to do some plate juggling but for the price it fine with me.

It's a decent machine, for sure! I hope they bring out replacement plats, but so far...they are holing up really well.
I just bought this Hello Hobby machine today, so this video was very helpful. The comments about parchment paper and Dollar Tree mats were also helpful. I subscribed and will be watching your other videos. It took me a bit to get used to the cadence of your voice, but I just turned down the volume and backtracked if I missed something. Thanks for your splendid review; I think this machine will work fine for my journals.😊
Glad it was helpful! I am actually releasing a video at 4 o'clock where I found that the WRMK Revolution plates work well in this machine (I believe they are made in the same factory/same manufacturer).
This was a fun video. I have been camping so have to catch up on videos. Hubby is going to paint a couple rooms including my craft room so everything is packed away. 😢 I hope he gets done soon. I hate not having my craft room

Any idea for replacement for the retired cuttlebug?
That gray holy base piece is very similar to the evolution with the dial that I have. Since mine has the dial, I just changed the pressure, and started cutting into Sizzix plates instead of the self healing one that came with the machine. Though the sides are more matte, and the platform is a lot longer (mine is more like the extended mats.
I know for that machine I thought about getting the iCrafter system when it is time to replace the plates.. though to be honest, I haven't really used that machine that much any more I pretty much switched to the Tangerine for most of my die cutting. Maybe if I try 3D embossing folders, I'll go back to the evolution machine... though that would probably mean having to learn that machine again for anything other than die cutting.
You can put the magnetic mat above the die and paper, pointing into the metal bottom to cut, saving your magnetic mat.
Vianney I think you can rig it up by replacing the Matt with a DP folder with top plate on top 👍🏻👍🏻

Interesting to see your video and see how t(e machine works. I have a Stampin Up Big Shot by Sizzix, and a Spellbinders Platinum for the bog stuff. If I ever get a new machine, it will either be the Empress or the Gemini II. But, I don’t have room for it. Maybe when I win the lottery and get a bigger house…….oh yea, I don’t play the lottery, guess it’s not happening.
That group of plates look like ones that come with the Bira Craft machine.

I'm in Rural central Minnesota and go into Walmart craft section frequently. They have NOT had this die cutting machine, or the dies. I have seen the box of glue dots in same color box but haven't thought to check the brand. The twine here, is packaged like your packages are...ln a clothespin type core. There are no nearby craft stores. The usual big 3 are each in a different town with the closest one being 20 miles away. This was interesting to watch. Thanks for the video. I have seen the stamp press you showed here. Like you I check to see if replacement cutting pads and platforms are available. If they're NOT it would be a big deterrent to me.
My WalMart out here in a suburb of San Diego proper hardly ever has anything good in the craft section, either!! I totally agree with you...where are replacement plates? It's kind of crazy they aren't available, even looked online and nothing.

Thank you for this! I've ALWAYS wondered🤔🧐 what the quality of their crafting supplies are [or is it "is" vs "are"??!] like! As for the die cutting/ embossing plate dil÷re, usually [not always] take "universal" size plates... just fyi! That's what I did - I bought a no-name brand machine & then bought some REALLY good plates! & They REALLY, TRULY make ALLLLLLL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD! The between the plates it came with vs. the really good, brand name ones are DEF. NIGHT &DAY!![& OBVIOUSLY the "aftermarket" plates were MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE - like half of the cost of the machine itself!!]

Hi, Charlotte! Thanks for the question...so, with machines that don't really have a die embossing mat...I run my paper through with a pice of craft foam. So, the craft foam, the paper, then the die facing down. It goes through easily and gives the embossed effect. I just didn't think to do it today!!
Its always fun to see “new” brands of things. But don’t think I’d pay $80 for a Walmart die cutting machine when for a little bit more, you can buy a basic Big Shot, that of course, has proven its reliability over many years. Sounds like Walmart is jumping on the paper-crafting bandwagon, but in typical Walmart style, they don’t seem to have thoroughly thought through everything…like even providing info on replacement mats. I would not be surprised if these machines don’t sell all that well and will be on clearance within in a few months for like $25. But thanks for sharing it with us. 😊
I do walk thru the crafting aisle about once a month and last month is the first I saw the die cutting machine. Our Walmart just rearranged recently and that area was left pretty empty for awhile. Maybe they are bringing them in as stores are restructured.

I agree that all acrylic stamps are not equal. Diamond Press stamps work every time, super crisp. Crafters Companion, not as much, I find I have to condition them more.
So odd, I have gotten Diamond Press stamps that were incomplete, no matter how many times you inked them, you couldn’t get a decent print. I guess any company’s product inspection can miss defects. I do find it hard to buy DP again….
Can you use the green embossing mats from Anna Griffin for embossing.?

I don't know, it's not just about fitting but if it can take the heat. I wouldn't try it with my precious Glimmer, but maybe some other brave soul will do so! (:

Hi ! I was wondering if you knew if the marquee cutting folders will also fit the Gemini midi machine. I wanted to order some items from Diamond Press and would like to think that the folders would be compatible. I don’t have the marquee machine. I was hoping you might know. Thank you for sharing!❤
I have the Gemini Mini-the folders are much thicker than the Diamond press folders.

Hi the Gemini midi will only work with the DP folders only with the purple embossing plate with it I have tested it and put it on the bottom of the D folder with out it it doesn’t give you the pressure u need

The green dollar tree mat doesn't work like before, the material has been changed. I was able to cut my dies with the Mar but now they have new ones and it won't work
So......I said to the Hubs-- Vianney (he knows who I mean) showed some Wal-Mart crafting items. Can we go? He said sure. What is it you want but won't find because our stores in Jersey suck? I said a Quilling kit. It has some useful items plus Zelma-- our sister-in-law that we live with- makes beautiful items by quilling, and it's a great price. Ah woe is me. He was right. They did not have ONE ITEM you showed here. I still hold out hope though 😉

Don’t waste your money on anything that Walmart markets under their logo or even name brands sold by them. You get what you pay for, if it seems to good to be true 99% of the time it is. Even name brands sold at their stores…beware. An example fruit of the loom” underwear. Many brands are “seconds” or similar to the name brands but lesser quality. I admire you for giving these items a try out in order to evaluate them, just beware.

I don’t know that people “speak” in sentences. That would be odd. Good grammar and punctuation in writing is a must, speech is generally more fluid. I get this criticism of my cadence often, it’s not just you. No worries, I’m okay with it!!
