Does anyone know why auxins inhibit growth in the roots but promote it in the shoot?
Or why auxins settle on the shaded side?
In a stem, the shaded side contains more auxin and grows longer, which causes the stem to grow towards the light. The plant does NOT bend towards the light. It grows because the auxin causes the cells to elongate on the shaded side, so this side grows more. ... Auxins have the opposite effect on root cells

Why doesn’t the auxin stop the root tip growing when it is pointed straight down?

I don't understand why when the auxins accumulate on shaded part in root it doesn't grow up toward the bulb
Auxin works oppositely in roots compared to shoots/stems, so auxin inhibits growth in roots on the shaded parts pushing the root back down because the lighted side has less auxin, growing faster.
@@emeco8678 Remember geotropism. So in the case of the roots, it isn’t light induced, it’s gravity induced. Therefore roots grow downwardly.

So auxin causes the upper side of a root to grow, but inhibits growth on the lower side of the root?
auxins inhibit growth to the side of the root that's further from the light. The shoots do the opposite.
