    Running both a959b and a979b and have no issues controlling. Definitely not for beginners but anyone with some experience will appreciate the power. Remember you don't have to go flat out all the time. For price and parts availability I love the wltoys. Yes I do have expensive RCs to. I've run Losi and Traxxas for years.

  • @larrydommer9109

    OK - so you obviously don't like the WLToys truck, but what do you expect for $60.
    I bought mine knowing that I was probably going to have to rebuild it, and I ordered the aluminum upgrade kit, and used about half of the kit, since Flex is better for endurance than rigid. I put the 12mm drive nuts on, and mounted buggy wheels (no foam) but hold shape way better than the stock wheels. The other big thing (not really big, just a little time consuming), I pulled the diffs apart, cleaned out whatever that stuff they call grease , and packed them with Red sticky grease. The diffs are as smooth or smoother than that Dromida looked on your review. One last thing (that I admit not everyone can do)I did, was I had my son print a battery tray that mounts between the shock posts. It does two things. It makes the chassis a little more rigid, and I can put just about any size battery I want in it.
    I haven't clocked the speed yet, but it runs straight as an arrow, and runs faster than any RC car I own. I probably put at least twenty hours into this mod, but it was a fun build, and I know every nut and bolt on it, and would do it again, probably in less than five hours the next time.

    • @Xionmass
      @Xionmass 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      hybrid32494 yes, I have 540 motor. I might be getting more like 15 min but that's alot of speed runs aswell, and fun drifting. I have the a959b tho. It's the buggy, maybe it's the larger tires on yours that draws more from battery, mine came with 7.4 and says 1500mah.. but looks more like the 1100 size. I just looked at my stock battery and yes it says 7.4 1500mah

    My experience of the 979b out the box it needs work as you mention the diffs are too tight but it's easily fixed by loosening the screws on the diff gear until it runs free easy

    You can pick up a complete metal upgrade kit for the wltoys for $80 to $100 bucks, and i mean COMPLETE metal upgrade. Everything, from chassis to the links, to arms, knuckles, just everything, diffs an all. Just get that, and u have a complete amazing monster. Seriiously. Get the kit, ebay has em, amazon as well

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, you're right. Although it has been my experience a full metal upgrade will mostly ruin this RC. It would become significantly heavier and prone to breaking remaining plastic pieces or just twisting the upgraded aluminum. In my opinion some upgrades would be helpful, but not the full kit.

    • @JPSkriP
      @JPSkriP 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      But there wont be any remaining plastic pieces to break :). I have a fully metal upgraded A959 (the buggy version,.. same everything as the truck, just body and wheels) Only plastic is the servo, rx and shell in the end.. I can post the link for the fully metal up.. And weight??? NONE,.. It's Anodized Aluminum and solid steel gears. including chassis optional steel ones, or anodized aluminum. But also.,. Im running a brushless system with the original 390 can sized 2460 platform rather than the 540 size system.,,. which the 540 motor alone adds weight compared to the 390, mand brushless is way lighter in that size. Im currently working on a A979B,. just picked it up last week,. and done hand full of immediate upgrades, but before i go all metal, im gonna swap out my brushless in the A959 and toss in the 540 in it once the motor mount arrives,. and swap the wheels and see how it runs. I'll follow up.

      hey buddy, thanks for watching!!!. I gotta tell you I really have come to hate the A979-B. Its totally uncontrollable because of the tight diffs, no other brand name RC has such tight diffs. That s the actually reason why it steers so poorly, not to mention the terrible turning radius. Also mind has began glitching and sometime doesn't turn on at all. While the Dromida is still running well, worth the extra money.

    If you only want the A979B 100% stock and dont care then ignore this
    Most of these people thinks "oh, its only $60ish, SOLD" and then they put almost $200 into it in upgrades when they could just get a better RC, a 1/10th at that lol. To do a full metal upgrade on banggood, my cart was at $180 not counting the car for each part i felt i would want counting all metal gears, diff case and bulkheads, A-arms shocks, cheap rebrand ESC/brushless motor and some other metal body upgrades and yet i had room for more... If you want small, get a Savage flux XS if you're wanting 65+mph and being a 1/12th or w/e it is stock on 3s. Sure its $324 and instock now but its not much more then what you will do with this A979B if you go all out to get 50-60mph and still wont do what the Savage flux XS can do.

    The diffs are locked in the wl toys that’s why the motors spinning

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hello, thanks for watching. The diffs are not locked, they are just very tight. A locked diff would not be useful with this type of RC at all.

    • @kadenyoung5614
      @kadenyoung5614 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hybrid32494 ok iv never had this car but because the motor was spinning I thought it was locked thanks for the reply 👍

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you're on point!! that was a valid observation. Unfortunately they are just extremely tight for such a light car. In a heavier car it would not be as bad as it is here. That's also one reason why the turning radius is terrible in this, since the diffs need to be more open for a turn when the outside tire covers more distance than the inside tires.

  • @joetheman74
    @joetheman74 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    You are a liar. I've seen both these trucks on other channels and the WL toys is so fast it's uncontrollable. It is not slow at all. You are also a liar about the run time. Other channels are saying 8 to 10. As far as the rest of your comparison well lets see. Gee why is the $60.00 truck not the same quality as the $160.00 truck. What do you expect? You can spend $25.00 for some tire inserts and some new shocks and you've got a great truck and still have not hit $100.00. There are also complete metal upgrade kits for these. Diff, entire front end, everything. I own a WL Toys 12428 1/12 scale with same motor and I get over 10 min runtime. They are nice trucks FOR THE MONEY! HOW MUCH ARE THEY PAYING YOU TO SELL THE DROMIDA?

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well Im not a lier, and I told it as it truly is. Don't be mislead by all these other positive reviews, its not as great as the marketing makes it look. In reality run time is crap bc a 540 motor drains the 1500 Mahh pack very quickly, ofcourse I don't run it all the way down either. Id never get metal upgrades for a cheap Chinese RC such as this, you will just wind up breaking other elements. You should get one and give it a try. then let me know from your own experience.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      here is another video, watch the last 3 three min, I show you how it actually runs.

    • @joetheman74
      @joetheman74 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Like I said I already own a WL Toys 12428 with the same 540 motor and it's 1/12 scale. larger and heavier and I get at least 10 minutes before low voltage cut off. The 12428 comes with the same battery too. You are trying to compare it to something way above it's price point. You are misrepresenting it's speed, runtime and pricing. The A979-B can be had for between 50.00 to 62.00. YOU may not want to upgrade a "cheap" chinese rc but 100's of people on TH-cam have and almost all are raving about their WL Toys trucks. They are not all sponsored. Real owners. You should check out the 12428 too. You seem like one of those haters that is upset that the Chinese are bringing HUGE competition to the market. Especially hobby shop owners. Too Bad. The Dromida is a nicer truck but not $100.00 nicer. Dromeda also starts with cheap plastic parts and makes you upgrade if you want metal. Fully upgraded WL toys under $300.00. Fully upgraded Dromida almost 500.00. Sure the Dromida is nicer but the WL Toys is a great truck for it's price point.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the 12428, that was my first WL toys product. Great chassis for the price. Drivable at least, with good loose diffs. I was merely comparing the scale and chassis layouts. The torque steer and very tight diffs make the a979 undriveable to me. Ofcourse its more obvious on pavement. Im telling you, the dromida handles amazing compared to any WL toys model. You're right, its incomparable only bc it is so much better.

    • @jasonsheeley7097
      @jasonsheeley7097 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I own both models and I can say bashing wise the dromida holds up better I've busted way more pieces on the wltoys then the dromida although they both offer plenty of aftermarket parts although I feel the wltoys aftermarket parts could be beefed up a little more and it would make a pretty damn good truck but the wltoys is too fast for its own good for the quality of the parts that it's built on

    • @jasonsheeley7097

      I swapped my wltoys to a 2050 KV brushless on 3s and the front tires don't stay on the ground but also had to change every single link on the truck over to aluminum but it doesn't take jump very well but it's pretty badass for Speed runs or just cranking wheeleez across the parking lot

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, I also agree on this completely. Getting these low quality Chinese made aftermarket aluminum parts for the WLtoys is mostly pointless, they are brittle and flexible and really just for looks.
