That’s outstanding craftsmanship and design. I can imagine a tea session here would be like sitting on the edge of a forest, gazing into a just discovered mountain lake. I think Marek will be busy!
You got superpowers Don. Saw the thumbnail and thought, well that's just another 'instagram-resin-river' c̶o̶f̶f̶e̶e̶ tea table. Then I started watching the video and, lo and behold, I grew a liking for it. The unbelievable craftsmanship, the mad attention to details. Your passionate, geeky and contagious way of describing it really got me. Superpower ;)
Such a beautiful work of art! Congratulations, Don and Marek, for overcoming all the obstacles; that self-healing finish looks just perfect. I can well see how this would become the centrepiece of a living room. - Please, if at all possible, could you share this magnificent view in your videos from time to time? That would be lovely!
Hi Don, would you please think about finding a way to make a cheaper version of this table in the future? Say a few hundred pounds? The design with the built in reservoir is amazing. However the cost is prohibitively expensive to most. Doesn’t have to look super flashy, or custom - but a fairly generic, bulk produced, low cost table with a similar design would be something I’d really want to buy. Thanks!
So nice to see you enjoying this so much. I laughed out loud when you said about a kettle table🙂 very “extra” … but why not! It looks fantastic and no doubt be a family heirloom in years to come.
That's a wonderfull unique tea table! Great match of colours, attention to every detail relevant for gong fu sessions. Not to mention that the table shows so much natural variations in the wood that every tea session is a unique sensation. Great artwork!
Fun watching this. Don’t know why anyone would go to the trouble of throwing a dislike on this. Just move on and watch some thing else. Anyhow, Congratulations! Beautiful!
OMG, you probably see us Americans with our tea bags dipping in plastic/metal/foam/paper cups & think, "how barbaric!" I've always been amazed with tea ceremonies but this elevates tea preparation, brewing & even the drinking to amazing heights. After watching your videos I'm starting to "get it". WOW!
wow, i can definitely believe that this table has transformed your life already. the glow of the ash is so warm and inviting. having something so customized and brought in from some beautiful tree and partnership with marek, it's like a dream. it's not a possibility for me right now, but it has definitely inspired what will probably be an obsession for my perfect tea table haha. i'm so happy for you! i cannot imagine all the wonderful experiences you will have around that table! just wow.
Amazing to see your passion and Marek equal passion for his own trade coming together!! Thank you so much for your presence in london and your excellent, unparalleled service, much love ❤️
I love your passion for tea and all stuff around. Long time effort turned to work of art. There is something satisfying to make your ideas real. Enjoy your life time sitting with friends by the table...
I’m so excited to see this, I’ve been watching and looking at these options for a tea table, even contemplated making one myself!! Hahahaha but this is the absolute solution! In every way. Thankyou for sharing, I’d love to have one of these. This is the most aesthetically pleasing table I’ve ever seen, water reservoir discreetly hidden. You’ve done an amazing job with the builder.
The emotion you have when tea is around, made me regained my love for tea. Now I have again my little tea station. I am waiting for my Yellow duanni clay tea pot. I am dying to taste my Puerh 10 years in it.
Bravo! I'll look forward to seeing this table in future videos. I have a similarly sized/themed tea table and, just as you with yours, it is something I will treasure for the rest of my days. Cheers!
any chance you would be willing to share the name of the finishing product? been looking for years now for a proper finishing solution for a gong fu table but havent found it yet
Saw the tittle and expected a new entry into the gung fu Code series, boy was this a surprise! See these river tables all the time at art fairs and never liked them to much, but with how yours looks so much like lakes and the good wood and shape choice its defiantly exquisite. And I've always had a hard time finding a good table too, they tend to be to big, to dark, to fancy.
This was such a satisfying video! The table is pure art, a perfect marriage of form and function. It was Wonderful to hear the artisan process of having it built. Sort of like a car enthusiast finally having their dream car built ❤️
Amazing table! Will certainly be looking at them more. I’d love to see a “wider view” video of how you integrate the table into your room, etc. Dedicated tea space, integrated into existing family gathering space, storage and decoration, that sort of thing. Maybe a TH-cam Live or similarly less-formal video. Thanks for all you do!
DON I HAVE A PRODUCT REQUEST. Did you and Marek consider urushi lacquer? It's an amazing material and craft that, like tea itself, has been overlooked and had its reputation tarnished in the West by the poor-quality imitations available in our markets. It has been traditionally used in many products including teaware because it combines the best qualities of glass, gold, and wood: it's thin, shockingly lightweight, practically impervious to heat/water/alcohol, very tough (hardness comparable to glass), and beautiful. If you've seen examples of pottery repaired with gold along the cracks (kintsugi), you've seen one of the uses of urushi. I know this is super luxurious but I would LOVE a "Satellite"-style tea tray with urushi from Mei Leaf. Any chance this could be in our future?
Wow that's great! I like the drain. I wonder if anyone ever just connects it to plumbing so you never have to drain anything? I kind of like seeing my empty tea water though. I would love something like this a little bigger*edit mistake* but instead of having a resin finish just made out of stone or jade or marble or something. I would love to have what you have where your tools can be hung up on the hooks etc. I don't go for modern as much, but I have to applaud this table. My table would look more appropriate in a Lord of the Rings movie haha Awesome turnout, and congratulations finding the right resin Don... well done love your passion
As a Norwegian, I heartily approve. Wood is in a way "our" material, and this is the kind of thing that makes sense in a Norwegian home with proper wood aesthetics.
May I ask, what do you think are the classic defining rules for furniture aesthetics in Norway vs say Sweden or Germany? Dark or light stains, raw or angular cuts, which generalized shapes?
@@judok1426 this will be just my impression, but I have a feeling the Swedes and Germans are more "civilized" than us, and prefer more processed cuts, whereas the Norwegian aesthetic is more geared towards unprocessed and raw cuts. The same for wood treatment, in that we are --or at least have been-- more prone to go for the naturally light wood rather than varnished wood. But brown IS popular too, and it does of course (as always) change with time.
@@SveinOlavGlesaaenNyberg Interesting, interesting. I get the feeling by that perhaps Norway has something of the "woodsmen" appeal to Scandinavians. I was a farmer in Iceland, I found when I was there that Scandinavian influence was a little deeper than Ikea furniture and white paint.
Table looks amazing. Defenitley the kind of thing I would get. And am still looking forward to trying Day Drinking Diva. (Order still has not came in yet, hopefully it does soon. Been waiting for a week now.)
Absolutely great looking table. And the hidden water tank is perfect. But it worries me that after spending so much time, effort and money, you still have hot teaware leaving marks. This means the surface is constantly changing and I really wonder about long-term effects.
I'm surprised and delighted that a craftsman from my home country has created this masterpiece. As someone that's looking into possibly making crafts myself, how did you come across Marek?
Love your enthusiasm for this beautifully "crafted" table. Personally im on a hunt for an hand sanded raw edges wood table. But so far only found one... in a tea house in Jongno-gu South Korea.
I am creating all hand crafted tea table. I’m on the next step of carving out a drainage system, then coating it’s all natural. I used No electric tools

With the insane amount of hard work he does, he definitely deserves it.
The table is stunning and the process to make it happen is equally amazing. Master craftsmen are really made of something special
