That means it is going to take more 3 years after applying citizenship Which means after PR you need to stay for 3 years in Canada and then file for citizenship , 3 yrs after applying you are actually going to get Canadian citizenship
If you stayed as a temporary resident prior to becoming a PR then up to a year can be counted towards your time. So you need to live only 2 years as a PR before applying for citizenship
