Yes, you're right, this song was a hit, at least here in México. There was many great bands by the time, La Union, from Spain were part of the "Rock en tu idioma" (Rock in your language, wich was a spanish language rock music difussion campaign wich many spanish, argentinian and mexican bands became famous from).
Another great spanish band i'd like you to react (and you should) is Radio Futura, they have many good songs but "Escuela de Calor" and "A cara o cruz" are 2 hits of them. Cheers!

Rafa Sánchez and his band made this song their greatest success thanks to an effective music video and a romantic literary history. Launched in 1984, Wolf man in Paris was inspired by the story "The Wolf Man", by the French writer Boris Vian, which at that time was widely read and which fell to the vocalist in the book Dogs, desire and death Once read, the story seemed so great that they thought it was a perfect song to turn it into a song.

Lots of your followers already told you that this band is from Spain. This song was their top hit of all times in that country and Latin America. In the early 80s, Spain was the spanish language rock spearhead all over the world. After them, Latin-American bands were born or consolidated. At that time spanish bands like La Unión, Radio Futura, Nacha Pop, Duncan Dhu, Hombres G, etc. started to spread the spanish rock language everywhere in Spain and Latin America. I sincerely recommend you to react to Radio Futura songs, for me they were the best spanish band in the 80s. Try Escuela de Calor, Cara o Cruz, Veneno en la Piel, Semilla Negra, etc. These guys were awesome.

This single was included in the album Mil Siluetas, his first album produced by wea Records, now Warner Music. There were many singles that achieved success, but none like Wolf Man in Paris, who reached number 1 on the popularity charts, where he remained for nine consecutive weeks. This song - which was inserted in the full boom of the movement that became known as the "Madrid Movement"

The story of "The Wolf-Man" continues. Denis travels mutated in man to a dark and nocturnal Paris. Meet and go to bed with a prostitute, face his pimps. Tired of the ruin of men, distressed by the imminence of his return to the wolf's body, he runs into a policeman who stops him and prevents him from returning to the forest.
There explodes the meaning that Vian gives to the story: the confrontation of naivety with authority, fight that becomes an open end: Denis, again in his wolf condition, feels anger, the restlessness of what is presumed to be a feeling of revenge of the animal against the evil of man.

Thus begins the story "The Wolf-Man", by the French playwright and musician Boris Vian (1920 - 1959), perhaps best known for his bestselling black novel, signed under the pseudonym Vernon Sullivan ("I will spit on your grave", for example) that for his story work.
In this story of "The Wolf-Man", Vian breaks with the literary tradition of lycanthropy (people who transform into wolves on full moon nights) and takes a twist to the popular myth.

The interesting thing about the video is that in the eighties there wasn’t a lot of good quality video clips in Spain, but in 1984 started a tv program for children and teens called “La Bola de Cristal” (The Crystal Ball). It was a very experimental program broadcasted on Saturday’s mornings and with clear segments for every age.
Lolo Rico, the creator of the program, summoned a lot of pop-rock-alternative-punk bands, the bands created songs for the children’s sections, she recorded a lot of video clips for the bands with a higher standard that the ones that were made then by the music companies for the teens’ sections.

Pure Spanish 80's Pop. La Union was not the best band for me but this was a hit and their best song by far. Other groups very influence by new wave as you said and also very melodic: Duncan Dhu ,my favourite song: a un minuto de ti. Or later in the 2000's la oreja de van Gogh with the hit song: 20 de enero. When I was a kid my prejudices, labelled these bands as commercial Pop music, I used to hate them based on these prejudices. I enjoy this music now. -ENANITOS VERDES (Argentina) : "La Muralla Verde", "Te ví en un tren", "Lamento Boliviano", "Tus Viejas Cartas", etc.
-MIGUEL MATEOS (Argentina): "Cuando Seas Grande", "Bailo con mi sombra", "Atado a un sentumiento", "Es tan Fácil romper un Corazón", "Llámame, si Me Necesitas", "Y Sin Pensar", "Lola", " Beso Francés", "Si tuvieramos Alas", "Solos en América", "Desnúdame", "Tirar los Muros Abajo".
-OCEANO (Panamá): " El Derramó Su amor por tí).
-NEON (México): " Juegos de Amor".
    - TIJUANA NO! (México): "Pobre De Tí".
    - LOS PRISIONEROS (Chile): "Tren Al Sur", "Corazones Rojos", "Amiga Mía", "Estrechez de Corazón"
    - LA CASTAÑEDA (México) "Noches De Tu Piel", "Cautivo de la Calle".
    - TOREROS MUERTOS (Spain): "Yo no me llamo Javier", "Mi Agüita Amarilla".

Great 80s hit. It seems you really liked it; I am sure you'll enjoy the version from The Mills.
You might as well listen to some other songs from them like Babel or Amor depredador.

I love that you reacted to this song it's been so long since I heard it. Yes I remember be this being part of the rock been turned idoma (rock in your language). I heard it in High school. When I played it my mom asked "who's this again? They sound familiar" I said the name, played it again. Then it was like a time wrap mom became 80s mom.😂 I was born in 93 and but I still have the image of her perm in my head. Which stopped in 1990.

"Rock en tu idioma" was Hispanoamerica's answer to new wave. It is very interesting what spanish speaking artists came up with, specially from the places that had just escaped from the dictators installed by the CIA during the 70's, it was a real challenge. Bands like Los Prisioneros were politically persecuted. You have already listened to -El Baile de los que sobran- so you can take from it part of the context.

This is a classic 80s Spanish rock song, group is from Spain. I have this video on my channel where I corrected a lip syncing issue on the official video in the first verse. 80s Spanish rock is awesome Frank, I think Mecano has better songs like "El Amante de Fuego" or "No Pintamos Nada". Still hoping you'll cover Danza Invisible "Sin Aliento" awesome song.

It is a band Spaniard band. It was a big hit in the eighties but it became in a classic in Sapain and Latin America; and we continue listening to it in the radio today. Please, Let's check it out a song of Alaska y los pegamoides or her new group Fangoria. It is a Spaniard band too, althought she got born Mexican. Greets!

Of course this spanish band was very famous in Mexico, Central America and South America, it was one of the many good bands of Spain, I recommend you a funny song of a spanish band "Los toreros muertos" and the name of the song is "Mi aguita amarilla" and the lyrics is about the urine.
