What’s funny is Britney tied her shirt up for practical reasons. She didn’t even thought of it making a big deal. Initially the shirt was tucked into their skirts and you can see it in some of the wide shots but halfway into the shoot Britney complained that the shirt was restricting her am movements and she was getting hot. The shirt also kept getting untucked so she just told the stylist if they can just tie it up as she always done that back in the south. All the dancers tied theirs to match Britney too. It was a good thing they were doing close ups and medium shots next as the wide shots were shot with the shirt tucked. She didn’t even think about it going to be iconic or scandalous
Sae Chan they were going to put her in jeans and shirt but she rejected it and suggested the uniform so they had to rush to Kmart to get it.

Such an epic video. And did you know it was her idea. She wanted the whole Catholic school girl look and with friends dancing in the gym. All her idea. And she was only 16. True genius right there. And the high school is the same school they shot the movie grease. Her director wanted her to dress up as a power ranger and Britney wasnt having that. So she had this idea and the rest is history. EPIC!!

She has had the idea for concepts for so many videos even her movie was her concept and they got Shonda Rhimes to write the script.
@@JOTennisVid yup. And she never got credit for it. She codirected all her videos. I been saying this for years. I was just stating she did this video and it was all her idea and she was only 16. Og course I know she did all her videos and she also came up with the idea for crossroads. She even used her real life sister Jamie Lynn Spears to play little version of her. How she had those three best friends like she has in real life. She didn't want the movie to be about her real life. She wanted to venture on make new script. She wanted the audience to make sure they can relate to the subjects and hard stuff in the movie. I'm a huge Britney fan. Still to this day.

In the late 90s, I was still a little kid so I really had no idea people back then found this video too "sexual" for a 16 yo. I've learned that quite recently and I find it funny how you guys are saying now that she actually was dressed like a normal high school girl, as that has always been the impression I had about Britney in this video. Like, yeah, she's showing her belly and a bit of legs and thighs, but like, srsly? It's not like they're sex toys or like she's doing kama sutra positions. That's literally how any *normal* kid would dress. That's literally just a freaking kid in her *high school uniform* that they say is too sexualized. And I feel that says way more about the people who are criticizing Britney than about herself: that they're fucking pedo who'll literally sexualize anything they see then blame the others for their own sexual deviances.

The thing about Britney is everyone stays trying to play her as this cookie cutter factory made pop princess that just did what she was called a lot of people don’t realize this video was shot when Brittiany was 16 years old like a month away from 17 I think an her first single every she goes to meet the Director for the music video and they had planned it out to have the Mv as ( some kinda power rangers super hero thing ) so Britney all of 16 goes to this big has famed director an the her label an says or if we are trying to target kids sure but people my age the teens won’t get down with that, they asked what she thought an she said ( im in class dreaming about getting out hanging with my friends an my dude blah blah but ) step by step she told them what would reach the youth not kids ... she was responsible for the iconic school girl outfit!! She got it that tied that shirt up ha showed that banging ass stomach just a whole bunch of stuff ( I’m sure she had a choreographer for the dancing but creatively the music video was 100% from her... most of vids are out of her mind ... again at 16 ... when I was 16 I had pimples all over an couldn’t talk to people I didn’t know she went up to the executives and told them how the shit should be.... she’s amazing I wish more people knew how much was actually her an how much she put into everything
