Some back story: Brits label didn’t like her real voice (what you hear in this vid, low & powerful) because they felt that she couldn’t be marketed well, so they forced her to do the iconic baby voice. You can hear her real voice in some earlier songs & even unreleased songs like let go & baby boy.

Well they did like her voice initially, she got signed by her rendition of Whitney's I've got nothing in her deep natural voice and where gonna promote her as a younger Sheryl Crowe. Because of the rise of pop and with the success of the Backstreet boys, they switched gears especially since she can dance. She spent a year with Eric White to train her voice to sound pop because she had the look of an innocent girl that shouldn't have a mature voice like she did, didn't fit their image of the idea American girl that they were trying to appeal to.
